    Swim jet recommendations.

My swim jet setup is not an 'off the shelf' type. I did not want to spend Riverflow sort of money and was happy with the idea of aerated water stream. I looked at the Badu system and found that unless you went for their largest triple jet setup, the width of stream would be difficult to use...

Advice on improving flow / pump placement

A picture of the layout would help. I may be misinterpreting your description, but it seems your 1/8hp circulation pump is pulling water through the inactive 1hp jet pump. This would be a major load on that little 1/8 hp pump and would reduce flow significantly.

    Waterfall

On a mild night (when it gets down to 75) I run waterfall for 3 hrs from 3am. I can drop 3-4 degrees of pool temp. You really feel the difference between 90 and 87.

    Waterfall

No sure what part of Oz you are in, but without any water feature, you lose the ability to cool your water by running it in the we hours of the morning. I understand you are done with the waterfall, but what about putting in laminar flow jets? These would not interfere with the in-pool bench...

    please vet this plumbing flow

Absolutely use a purpose build backflow preventer. Mains pressure is fine while it is there. If the city water has a problem (pressure loss or even suction) you must prevent any water being drawn back into the city system. That is the reason sprinkler systems have them.

    Pipe connection

Did you get a valve or valve handle? It was a bit better than a 50/50 guess on those two. The bigger pipe tended me towards that being drain. With that knowledge, did you find that this valve was set to skimmer only? So when you turn valve to 'real' drain it loses it's prime by drawing air. How...

    Pipe connection

Good work on the filter! I would suggest doing all your vacuuming and pool cleanup, (SLAM) prior to replacing filter cartridge. If that valve over the Skimmer line is a 3 way and not just a shutoff for the skimmer line, yes. I would imagine that valve is in a state of allowing partial pool...

Where to place my pump and filter

20-25' from the deep end seems a little excessive, there is not may pools that would meet this 'recommendation'. 75' is not excessive, with the pipe diameters you are installing. Elevation (head) is another consideration. If the pump has to overcome an elevated pool relative to its own location...

    Pipe connection

You labelled correctly. You could install a non-return valve and it would be placed below the crossover pipe on the Spa return. Because of the pipes either side of it you may need to cut not only that pipe, but the Pool return too. That way you could flex the pipes up enough to fit the valve...

    Pipe connection

Welcome to TFP and pool ownership. You have made an important 1st step, realizing you need help and finding it. We'll try to set you on a good path. Ok, need some info. This pool has an attached Spa and has one skimmer. Correct? The 1st photo is the input to the pump. Seems to indicate the left...

Changing DE filter to catridge filter.

My previous pool had a DE filter and the one I have in my current pool is a cartridge filter. Yes, DE is the finest filtration. Is it noticeable in a well maintained pool, maybe to the discerning eye, but hardly. I find the cartridge easier and quicker to clean which means I do it more...

Help going TFPC for next season

Jay, I have a 40k pool and am planning to integrate a Stenner setup. The biggest improvement I have made to the effort involved in bleaching is finding a bulk bleach supplier. I bought two 7 gallon containers with spigots on Amazon. I get them filled for about $23 every few of weeks. So much...

Need Expert Advice on Replacing Water Feature Pump in Brand New Build

Sorry your designer made a bonehead mistake that you are on the hook for. Two essentially independent water features, one that has very specific flow needs. That should have told them that either a VS pump or two separate pumps; driving each feature independently, was required. Not sure if you...
