Thanks Durk! Last Monday, I tapped it with a hammer and it started turning. It's been working ever since. I know I'm coming due for a new one. I'm hoping this one will last me until after my Disney trip next week. :)

So this morning I turned on the timer and now the pump is just humming, nothing is turning. I'm thinking it had stopped during the storm and probably overheated, causing it to trip the outlet. So what do I check now? Could it be the capacitor again?

Mine says 88-106 MFD. Can I replace it with one that says 88-108 MFD? Also, what's the difference in a 110 VAC, 115 VAC and 125 VAC?

Hi Bama, Yes I can manually turn the shaft and it did trip out also. I unplugged it and let it sit. Once it cooled a bit I heard it click so I plugged it back in, turned it on and it started humming again. It's currently unplugged.

Today when I turned the system back on after backwashing I noticed the cover over the basket chamber tighted up but immediately lost suction. I could see the cover suck in then loosen. It still seems tight, and doesn't leak when system is off. Could this be that the gasket needs replacing?

Did you consider changing your pressure guage and seeing if it does the same thing? Is everything fine inside your filter: laterals and all?

So the waterproof grease is okay? I got it from HD in the plumbing isle. My neighbor is currently borrowing it so I can't look to see what it is right now. I know it's labeled as waterproof grease.
