Thanks for the help. I am not finding very many 1hp variable speed pumps so I plan to go with a 1.5. I’m assuming since I can reduce the speed this should not be a problem. I also assume that it will not necessarily cost more to run since I control the speed as well. Am I correct?

So my primary question before I look at repairing or replacing the motor is: do I need to do something to isolate this issue to the motor (as opposed to the impeller side) or is that most certainly the problem? If I do, what do you recommend? Thanks!

This morning I worked the multi port back and forth to different settings, reprimed, backwashed and then fires it back up. Problem seems to be gone. I can shut it off and back on without losing prime. I’m assuming it’s an issue with the multi port.
