I use a 2 speed/1.5 hp pump on high to move water through my 2 - 2' x 20' panels works just fine. Can you post a diagram of how you piped in your panels?
I was running mine with a dedicated return for my solar, until yesterday when I twinned it to the normal return giving me the option of running my swg while running my solar heat.
I have also at times ran an auxillary pump to the panels, now with a 1.5hp pump I find it is not needed, even with...
I run the Hayward Powerflo Matrix, along with the Pentair version of your solar controller, both work great.
I did add a DPDT relay and rewired my motor so I can use the booster pump 'on' relay in the solar controller to switch my pump from lo to high for heating purposes.
I had a 19" sand filter with a 1hp pump on my 12' Intex bubble top pool, the water still got cloudy.
I found TFP, did a ton of reading and rereading, got a test kit, now my water is picture perfect, almost boring to maintain.
The loop may be to allow for expansion/contraction and also vibration isolation to ajoining equipment.
Also a long "swing" joint to make it fit when 45 degree bend won't let it happen.
I have the 1.5 hp version. I use the high speed for solar and low speed for swg generator. Only thing I had to do was upgrade from 14/2 wire to 12/2 as recommended, it runs ok with smaller guage wire just warmer which will cause troubles later on.
I did buy my sand filter new years ago, but...
Upgrading my pump was one of the first moves I made on my pool journey.
10$ more for the 2500 gph would be the way to go.
Sand filter is also very nice, another of my early upgrades, but is another 100$.
My motor died long ago but I still use the same sand filter today that I bought 10 years...
Sweeps for better flow if you have room and access to them.
If you cannot support it off of the ground, you are right next to a wood wall, a simple angle bracket would suffice.
#1 is the solar cover, no use making it if you cannot keep it.
Solar is nice added a lot more swim days to my pool over the last few years.
If you decide to go that route definitely look into getting a solar controller.
3 weeks old, warranty issue. If you touch the housing front and back and either or both ends are heating up on high it is a bearing problem.
It may also be caused by a suction side leak, pump skimmer basket being the prime culprit most of the time. Is the o-ring/gasket in place and lubed...
I wouldn't be adverse to giving it a good two to three doses of FC.
One before the Deep Clean see pool school
One during the deep clean perhaps two
then one after
Grats on the kit ;)
I have yet to meet a fellow TFPer up here, everyone I talk to uses pucks.
I can show them my pool and explain how it takes ten minutes a day to maintain.
I can show them how to test with an oto or taylor kit.
I can take half an hour and explain the cya/fc relationship to them.
I advise them to...
This is what my 6-way valve looks like, in filter mode.
I looked at yours on uTube, it looks similar to mine.
Have you removed the bonnet to lube the spider gasket at one point? If you did you may have put it back together a quarter turn out.
Note if I turn the valve on my filter to where...
Yes a friend of mine did this a few years ago after the filter/pump/skimmer unit died.
Your new pump should come with two hoses, just run one from the bottom of your skimmer/pump to the inlet of your new pump and the outlet gets plumbed to the return jet you have now.
If you need to adapt once...
