How to fix return pulling away from pipe

Hi HeatherH I had the same issue with my pool returns. I had to cut up my pool deck, dig down to the pipes and fit new returns. I filled in the hole with material to reduce the settling. Multiple attempts to seal the gaps from poolside failed.

Two Q's re: correct sealant use when replacing FG pool skimmer faceplate

Hey Chuck I replaced my Skimmer Escutcheon not long after I bought my place as it was cracked and not flush against the Fiberglass wall. I didn't us the supplied gasket/seal but instead used the following product...

    Waterco vs Astral Pool Filter

Do you have a particular type in mind? sand, cartridge or DE? I have a Hayward cartridge my Dad has a Waterco Sand and my Brother has a Astral Sand. I'd be happy with any one but I would pick a Cartidge over a sand for my setup and location under trees. To me it's a decision on how fine you...

Does our pool/spa return plumbing make sense?

CA The life of a cell is reduced by the time it is on and producing FC not from the flow past the cell. Bad chemistry can also be a reason for a reduced life due to calcium build-up and using acid to clean it.

How to clean the pump strainer basket

Hard to tell from the picture of your pump pad but A,B and C might be the suction and discharge ports for your roof solar system. Two ports for suction and one for the return of the heated water. That's how mine is setup.

How to clean the pump strainer basket

also to reduce the amount of debris getting into your pump suction basket you can use Skimmer socks. Put the skimmer sock in you pool skimmer basket to capture the fine stuff that normally gets past the skimmer basket . You can pick them up from your local Bunnings. No need to go to the Pool...

How to clean the pump strainer basket

Hi Aung As Texas said you can switch off the power at the GPO to stop the pump from starting while cleaning the strainer. If your timers have reset after switching off the power to the chlorinator then the battery in the Zodiac has probably gone. (common issue with the zodiac). You will have to...

    Is my pump dead

Sam Looks like the pump is Cactus. If your chlorinator works your power will be fine. All the GPOs will most likely be on the same circuit in your pool area. While you are sorting out your pump don't forget to add liquid chlorine to the pool daily and mix.

Is this considered primed for a variable speed pump?

What was the normal before it started to only fill to 80%? Looks like a suction side air leak. Have you tried to clean and lubricate the oring on the pump basket lid yet?

How to add pressure gauge to PVC pipe?

Have a look at the Faucet Tee pvc pressure fittings. You can get them in bsp or npt thread. This will have to be cut in to your pipework.

    Pool Leaking!!!!

I had a leak in my fiberglass pool for two years and traced it to the returns (eyeballs) not sealing against the wall of the pool. I found that the pipes had moved and had pulled the fitting away from the pool wall. To find this and ensure it was the only leak I plugged all pipes entering and...

Hi Sal Sorry to hear about your illness and I hope all is well now. I'm sure you'll get some expert advise soon but I thought you maybe able to try a few things in the meantime. Looks like you have a some issues and it may be best to attack them one at a time. Can you confirm the pressure...

    Help pls

G'day Tom Can you take a pic of your pool showing the skimmer and returns and any other pipes that are associated with it. Are there anymore pipes coming out of your filter? As mentioned above the pipes that are visible in your picture are a pump suction (possibly from the skimmer) and the...

    Small VS pump

James The link below is to the Hayward Max Flo VS and this pump is close to what I have and my pools not much bigger than yours. I have my set for 1250rpm for the majority of the pump run and that is sufficient for skimming and the SWCG. Im not sure what performance your existing pump has but...

Confused about new liquid-filled pressure gauge

The Glycerine inside the Pressure gauges main purpose is for dampening of the needle in a fluctuating pressure procces. As Brett s also noted it's to prevent moisture corrosion on the internal gears and bourbon tube. The gauge internals should be vented when in service and closed for...

Variable speed pump slow speed is this the way to go, from a total pool newby

Fiesta The run times are also dependant on how you chlorinate (LC or SWCG). This time of year in Aus I find 2hr is more than enough to skim and replenish the small amount of CL lost in 24hrs. Your pools location(in sun, trees over the pool) and number of Bathers will effect the FC loss during...

Variable speed pump slow speed is this the way to go, from a total pool newby

Hi Fiesta Pool water turnover is not really required. The pump only needs to be running enough to mix your Chemicals, reach you FC target and to skim and or clean you pool.

    Repair or replace pool filter

The pieces missing on the top manifold are allowing unfiltered water to return to the pool so this will have to be replaced. The air relief tube is easy replaced, Not sure why there is a bolt in it?? If the bottom manifold is craked then this should also be replaced.

    Hayward Filter Lock Ring

My experience with leaks on the swimclear is from, the Bottom collector( manifold that holds the cartridges) has slightly twisted and is not sitting square. The top closure plate is not fully pushed into the cartridges. The clamp could need to be wire brushed out if there is too much corrosion...

Protecting booster pump from running without inlet pressure

A: Get a Robot instead (Sorry I couldn't help add that) B: You may have issues with the Pressure Switch setting with a VS pump. The chances of running the Booster pump while the VS pump is at a low rpm is as likely as a micro switch failure.

No Flow light on Zodiac LM3

Moldy The manual mentions a "Chlorine Output light" is this ON during the fault condition? Is the "No flow"light ON during the fault condition? How old is the salt cell? It could be that the Cell has problems detecting the flow at times or the Chlorinator circuitry is not picking up the flow...
