    Plumbing Question

Thanks @ajw22. I was able to confirm with the PB exactly what you said. Since we have a heat pump and not a gas heater the bypass in not necessary. The instructions provided just say heater. It doesn't specify heat pump vs gas heater. It would be nice if they put a note in there about not a...

    Plumbing Question

I should note the only bypass is the one in that first picture I posted. So nothing between filter, heater or salt chlorinator

    Plumbing Question

Maybe this will help. Yellow= filter to heater Blue = heater to salt chlorinator Red = salt chlorinator to returns (this is the line that has that random valve I highlighted above.

    Plumbing Question

We are waiting on plaster after nearly 12 months since we started the build. PB sent startup/care instructions to get us prepared. It mentions keeping the heater bypass valve closed for the first 30 days. Problem is…I don’t believe they installed a heater bypass valve after looking at the...

New Gunite Build in SE PA (Plumbing Question)

Plumbing was done about a week or so ago and there is one thing that I'm concerned about. I was hoping some of the experts could weigh in and let me know if I should be concerned with how they plumbed one of the returns. 1. Wouldn't the flow be reduced due to the size decrease in the line. 2...

New Gunite Build in SE PA (Plumbing Question)

@SecoSteve I appreciate your positive thinking but unfortunately there is a lot left to go. The PB won’t commit to any dates because various backorders. I know backorders are an issue with some stuff but I also think they took on way more work than they can handle in a reasonable amount of time...

New Gunite Build in SE PA (Plumbing Question)

Pool builder has agreed to redo the stairs. How long it’s going to take to get the gunite crew back out remains to be seen. It’s unfortunate that their poor communication with their sub is going to cause not only a delay but money out of their pocket. I’m starting to accept the fact that it is...

New Gunite Build in SE PA (Plumbing Question)

Forgot to note this is not an A&S pool. It's a local builder who gets great reviews. We actually know several people who have used them and have nothing but good things to say. I'm confident they will fix it but the concern is how long that is going to take to fix. Was hoping to get thoughts on...

New Gunite Build in SE PA (Plumbing Question)

The original plan had complete half circles about 2 feet over to the right. We didn't want dead space between the stairs and wall so we asked them to extend the stairs all the way to the wall from their original position in the drawing. We were told that's how they usually do it so it's not a...

New Gunite Build in SE PA (Plumbing Question)

After waiting nearly 6 weeks to get gunite it was finally completed yesterday. Everything looks pretty good with one exception. They made the steps off the sun shelf really small and jammed them in the corner. There is only 18in from the side of the pool to the edge first step. I think this is...

New Gunite Build in SE PA (Plumbing Question)

The build has finally kicked off after signing a contract last fall. We started about a month and half later than originally estimated but not surprised due to all the delays the pool industry has been seeing lately. I know nothing about pools so this site has been extremely helpful. In the...

    Jandy/Nature 2 SWG recommendation?

Thanks all for the replies. You’ve been very helpful as I was having a difficult time trying to decide which to go with. Builder is hoping he can get us to a shell before the weather turns bad. Otherwise we’ll start in the spring. I’ve learned a ton from this website! @Dave1096 - it’s not A&S...

    Jandy/Nature 2 SWG recommendation?

The pool builder we decided to go with uses Jandy equipment. I'm looking for recommendations on which SWG I should go with. I don't have all the final numbers but I believe it'll be somewhere in the range of 20-23k gallons (Gunite freeform.) Builder is offering True Clear or Nature 2 Fusion. I...

New Build in SE PA (contract phase)

Thanks, Yippee! Any particular robot cleaner that you would recommend. The amount the PBs mark up the suction cleaner I can likely get a top robot for the same price if I buy on my own.

New Build in SE PA (contract phase)

Hi All, I am brand new to the pool game and looking for all the help I can get. I stumbled across this site and have already learned more about pools than I ever thought I needed to know. My wife and I have never built or owned a pool. In laws built a liner pool (north central pa) after my wife...
