    Chasing down a leak

We have a 25'x40'x3'6" 25,000 gallon gunite pool which is at least 20 years old. The previous owner had done DIY repairs over the years. Basically draining and patching it every 2-3 years. We knew it was leaking but had never quantified it until I converted it to salt water a few weeks ago...

Hot tub leaking - how to remove sides

I have a 2 year-old Hot Spring Sovereign about 3 months out of warranty. It has started losing water. About 1/2 an inch per week. Not enough to be obvious. Any ideas how to remove the sides without damaging them so I can look for the leak? I don't see any obvious screws or fasteners.

    What is a 'smart' pool?

My neighbor mentioned to me they were looking at getting a pool installed. I told him to make sure he got a salt-water pool. He said he had initially wanted a salt water pool but their PB talked them out of it saying they were expensive in the long run and a 'smart pool' was the way to go. ...

Recommendations for a wireless pool thermometer.

I have an Ambient Weather WS-14 floating wireless pool thermometer which I like when it works. Unfortunately, the second floating sensor has now failed in little over a year. Currently, the display on the sensor just flashes on/off. I bought the current sensor in December after the previous one...

Polaris Booster pump - why use flex pipe

So, I got home last night to discover my pool level below the skimmers (after several days of rain). My first suspicion was the spider gasket but after removal, inspection and re-installing, discovered the flexible pipe had blown off the booster pump outlet at the quick-connect. It was late now...

Hayward AquaRite flow switch bad. Which switch?

Noticed today no chlorine generating. Display is showing no flow. Checked the switch with a multimeter and it's open circuit with or without the pump running. Ergo... bad switch. Searching online for a replacement, there seem to be 2 different types (with the same part number). Are these 2...

    GFCI Best practice

I just purchased a home with an in-ground pool and trying to assess the electrical. The cleaner booster pump had a broken bonding wire (which I replaced). I have added a Hayward SWG. Nowhere in the system can I find any GFCI protection. My main concern is there are several 120V outlets...

Aquarite: How does "Desired output" regulate chlorine?

We just bought a house in Florida with an inground pool. Previously had a 24' above ground Intex with SWG for several years so decided to convert this one to SW. Bought and installed the AquaRite with T15 cell two weeks ago. Initially put too much salt in and had to drain a third of the water...
