    Buried Above-Ground Pools!

Florida, don't you just love the simplicity of a buried above-ground? Update: So last summer, we had all the top plates replaced and the pool man attempted to pull the liner back into place as he replaced the coping. While it hasn't held completely where the liner had fallen quite a bit, it...

    Climbing Rings

Hi Marty. We didn't want to do that until we heard back from anyone who has done it and to make sure it won't mess anything up with the cleaner. We may go ahead and try it this weekend. Thanks!

Rotted coping releasing overlap liner into pool

Kimkats, an acquaintance did the repair this week and was able to save the liner for now. He drained below the return, removed the return and had to patch it because it had torn/stretched about 2" below the return. It's not a pretty job, but will hold up. He got the wrinkle out easily enough...

    Climbing Rings

We recently bought a Dolphin Proteus DX4 for our buried Doughboy. Since I sweep fairly regularly, we don't want the cleaner wasting time climbing the vinyl walls. Not to mention, the guy who replaced our liner (after the 2016 hail storm) apparently used the old coping, because in no time, the...

    Buried Above-Ground Pools!

Thanks again, kimkats! We hope you're enjoying your pool today! We've made contact with two installers as of right now and will get on inyopool to find the parts. Have a great weekend!

Rotted coping releasing overlap liner into pool

Thank you, kimkats. Yes, the sun is always on the pool and with the 100+ temps, the water should be pretty warm. We are trying to find a pool installer to just come out and replace all the rusted endcaps, the crumbling coping and will go ahead and install new stabilizer bars as well. They are...

    Just had new liner installed

Hi Joe. Have you read through the Pool School section yet? I see that you just now signed up. That's the first "classroom" you should report to. It will teach you everything you need to know about your water! It's hot as blazes in Texas again today!

    Buried Above-Ground Pools!

Hello pool lovers! It's blazing hot in Texas!! After reading through an old thread about burying above-ground pools, I decided it might be fun and informative to check with everyone to see how their buried above-ground pools are doing. Our Doughboy was eight years old when we had the 4/11/2016...

Rotted coping releasing overlap liner into pool

Hello all. We had our liner replaced in 2016 after the grapefruit-sized hail punched a hole in it. We're now wondering if the installer used the old coping. After just six years, it is breaking off in pieces and the overlap liner has fallen to the inside, above our return. It started out...

Keeping ducks out of the pool

Well, I know this is an old thread, but we have ducks for the first time ever (13 years) and THEY ARE NASTY - poop all on the bottom of the pool. I was just checking to see what everyone else did. I saw some floaty crocodile heads (blow-up) that supposedly will scare them off and just read...

Looks just like ours, especially the bowing. Did your friend do a 7' deep end?

    Buried Doughboy - Frozen!

Thank you, CR. I'm not a snowbird, so didn't relish going back out into several inches of snow! There is only a small amount of water still in the skimmer, maybe 1/4" above the pipe hole, but it was already freezing. The thin layer of ice I broke up was out from the return, toward the middle...

    Buried Doughboy - Frozen!

OK, so we're in Texas, where it (almost) NEVER gets cold enough to worry about winterizing our pool. About 13 years ago, we installed a 32x16 Doughboy with 7' deep end, buried with about one foot remaining above ground, and a large deck/railing surrounding the pool. We never close it for...

To Bury or Not to Bury an Above Ground Pool!

UPDATE: Well, it's been eleven years since we had our Doughboy installed. Scott and I designed and built our deck around the pool a year or so after the pool install. It turned out beautiful with the large deck and paver walkway from the house to the pool. I think I put links on this site on...

    Pool Blaster Max

I see this thread is not quite two years old. We purchased our first Pool Blaster Max some years ago, used it twice and got hooked on the simplicity. But the light on the charger never changed from red to green. So I just unplugged it after four hours, used it the next time (each cleaning...

    New Pool Installed...

Very nice, Tara! I'm surprised Nevada let you fill it. We can't even run our bird bath/fountain. We drove by a portion of Ray Hubbard and Lake Lavon they've been dry for so long that they are now just big green fields. Watering the lawn is twice monthly. So when will you start the deck?

New AG install in Texas today!

I just love getting back on the site to peek in on all the new installs! Unfortunately, I can only see one picture - that of the finished install. Love it, love it! If you want/need another of those umbrellas (less the fabric part), you are welcome to ours. We're about to take it down because...

    Pump went dry overnight

http://www.poolsupplyworld.com/Pentair- ... 340206.htm Pentair Dynamo #340206. We have a 16x32 buried Doughboy with 7' deep end. We installed this pump four years ago and it's been running 24/7 (on low) since. It only gets turned off to backwash, which isn't very often since I use the skimmer...

    Doughboy pool advice

Danielle, I believe the instructions that came with your pool lay out the specifics, such as how far out and how deep the slurry should be, which is what you need in order to figure out how much slurry. I can try to find ours, since we're 16x32 also, but you could also google it.

New Pool Build because of Big Green Egg - FINAL INSPECTION

Re: New Pool Build in Central Texas because of Big Green Egg WOW, VERY nice! I love the tree in the hole too. No chance of the tree roots eventually messing with the deck or pool, is there?

New Pool Build because of Big Green Egg - FINAL INSPECTION

Re: New Pool Build in Central Texas because of Big Green Egg LOL, Skylar, the description of your no-name city sounds just like Wylie, until I saw the white rock, which is more like Richardson. The men that installed our fence in Richardson in 1994 hated us by the time they finished! None of...

pour bleach in skimmer or directly in pool?

Update on our pool. We've been adding the chlorine through the skimmer for five years now and the liner is holding up wonderfully. I don't pour the MA into the skimmer, but rather, at the strongest return flow and as I slowly pour it in, I stir the water a little and watch it disperse even...

    Doughboy pool advice

Hi. We buried our 32x16 Doughboy and have a 7' deep end. We didn't put the slurry around it, wish we had. But we haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. We hard-plumbed it and added a 2nd return and switched out the single-speed pump with a dual-speed (best decision EVER) after the...

    Automatic Pool Cleaners and AGP

Jim, we have a buried (12-18" above ground) Doughboy and use an Aquabot Turbo. We just plug it into the electrical outlet, drop it into the pool, turn it on and walk away. It's an in-ground cleaner. The lady we bought it from a few years ago got it from her grandfather, who'd used it for...

Far North Dallas options for Chlorine sources

I noticed the change in sodium hyphochlorite from 6% to 8.25% last week at Walmart. The question is, with the price increase and volume decrease, are we actually on the losing end, even though it requires LESS now that the SH is at 8.25%? My brain is too tired to think this one through.

Hello all...new pool owner-step 1 How many gallons?

Once you get your actual numbers, if your CYA is really zero, or almost non-existant, you could use the pucks to bring up your CYA. Each opening season, we use the pucks for a little while until our CYA is where we want it. Or if it gets low from splash out or heavy rains (lol, like it ever...
