    we have jets on a bench like yours and when they built pool they just added a "T" in the line before the Jet and ran 1/2" pvc up above the water line that exits in the Bullnose of the deck.     Is your backwash connected to a hose or pipe that dumps the water elsewhere? Even though the valve is in the filter position it could be leaking out the backwash port ....

    If you put down a layer of weed block or filter cloth it will discourage weed growth and also help prevent the gravel from slowly sinking down in the sand...

    long story but basically plugged off the two skimmers and let main drain serve as only return to the pump ... when I plugged the skimmers the water dropped to the bottom of the tile and everything has been good for about 6-8 weeks ....but now suddenly loosing water again. now that fall is here...
