    The Numbers Are IN!

Hello friends, been adding CYA over the last week. had a nasty storm blow through on Monday night so clean up was a mess. My pool is flanked by 3 huge oak trees. anyway, so I added 2.5 gallons of 12% CL yesterday to go from greenish to clear (plus I had not added any in a couple days, and...

My Current Setup> I have a pair of Proficient 605 outdoor speakers. I ran 14 guage, through the eves and dropped in the wall behind the A/V equipment (happens to be on the same outside wall as the speakers). Right now I have them powered by the surround back amp of my old Harman Kardon AVR...

Another getting "Pool Stored"... poor people

Sorry Waterbear, I meant no offense to you personally. It sounds like your store may be the exception to the rule, but I think you realize that. Thank you for being honest and helpful to shmucks like me both on this site, and in your store. I wish more pool stores were ran like yours. :)

Another getting "Pool Stored"... poor people

but don't feel TOO bad, they do (for the most part) cover their bottom line by selling unsuspecting pool owners a lot of chems they don't REALLY need! I got the free test, but I've also purchased skimmer socks, a pressure gauge, and 12% CL from them so far...because I needed the stuff...not...

good thing I did it the easy way. will test again next week. yesterdays CYA test was to low to read, the water clouded up a little but I could still see the dot after using the entire solution.

Best way to add granulated CYA?

I put some in the skimmer, but I know some of it goes through the skimmer basket to the filter basket. Should I be putting this stuff in something? or is it cool for it to go through the pump?

Lets hear your pool critter stories.

I got two ducks that are crapping, all over the place. Every time I see them I run out like a crazy person and scare 'em away, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm the only one in my family that does this. So from 7am to 5pm, the pool is all there's.

    Can't Wait!!!

I think your right, just back in...the depth as of right now is 3ft 9in. Measuring across, the width was close to 15ft 6in. so, I'm pretty sure we can call that 15 and assume the length is 33. So according to the pool calculator, with an oval pool, that comes up to 13,400.

Crud. you must have posted at the same time as me. OK, I'll get the pucks out. So, what is a better way to add CYA? I'm going to get a measuring tape and a flash light!

    Can't Wait!!!

I just added 2 pucks to the skimmer instead of adding liquid Cl tonight. I figured they can't hurt. If they add CYA great! Should I bring up the CYA in another way as well?

Right on. Got my kit. I went to the PS to get some Liquid Cl, and get my water tested there out of curiosity. Their results: T/A = 142 pH = 8.14 Calcium Increaser? = 120 TC = some # I can't read, looks like 013 or 0/3. FC = .22? Chlorine Stabilizer (CYA?) = 10 My results: (not guaranteed...

The PSI on my filter gauge has been below zero since I turned it on, I last checked it about an hour and a half ago, and it had not changed. It's a sand filter, not sure about the size...I'll post up some pics later...I'm on the deck with a laptop, so when I get on the desktop, I'll put up some...

Dave! Man you've been great. So much help. I'm really glad I ordered the kit from you, the support has been priceless. So, the extra gallon of 6%, that should go in tomorrow night? Or one in the morning and one more at night? I did brush the sides and bottom a bit after adding the first...

Got to the pool store around 5:30, they closed at 4. So no test until Monday. Per duraleigh's suggestion, I added 2 gallons of 6% bleach a few minutes ago, and I'll at 2 more after dark. (if I was thinking right, I would have added them all after dark.) I don't know anything about the pump...
