    Another cloudy thread✌️

Thank you for the detailed response. No pressure rise. I backflush every sunday just to keep things tidy, is too often bad? Noted on ph tests. Your A and B assumptions are accurate. Is there anything else i should be testing for or doing besides filter on 24 hours and keep fc at slam level...

    Why do they shock weekly?

Got a friend with an above ground pool that uses tablets, relies on pool store advice/testing and shocks his pool weekly by way of pool store advice. Whatever, that is his deal. Why do they recommend shocking weekly?

Ill take a stab at this as i was in the same situation this year. We bought our first pool this year, 18’ x 48” intex. Came with cheap low powered cartridge filter. When we filled with well water we had an orange iron swamp. Found a used 10” intex 1200 sand filter and used both filters to...

    Chlorine smell

I have kept a well balanced pool using TFP. I notice that there is little to no chlorine smell while in the water or on the skin when getting out. I actually keep my chlorine at the high side using the cya/fc chart. Why do some pools wreak of chlorine smell and mine doesnt?

    Complete green algae

I will add that if you choose to go with the TFP SLAM method, you have to trust the process and stick with it by the book. If you deviate too far from the SLAM process and given advice it may not work. You have a mess, it will take time to fix. Build confidence and info by reading other...

    Intex Pump leaking

Had same issue with mine when new. I lubed them and didnt help. I ended up wrapping a couple layers of teflon tape around them and very carefully installed. This stopped my leak. My next step was gonna be to find thicker orings or rtv. new orings may help, be sure to lubricate them. Try not...

    Best use of solar cover

Bought the cheap Doheny blue solar cover. Our pool gets full 100% sun. To get the most heat into the water should i take the cover off during the day and back on at night or leave it on full time when the pool is not in use? Bubbles facing up or in the water?

    Cya clarification

I get the concept of one way to reduce cya is to drain water and replace. Drain can occur by physically letting water out, splash out, filter backwash, vacuum to waste etc. ive seen posts saying that filling due to evaporation will reduce cya. Is this accurate? I thought cya stays in the...
