Take Down in Winter or Spring (need to re-level ground)

The pool has been there since 2006 (according to previous owners). Honestly that's the biggest reason I want to take it down now, instead of the spring, so I don't have to think about it all winter! If there is a bunch of rust, then out it goes no decision required. Because we aren't sure if we...

Take Down in Winter or Spring (need to re-level ground)

Hey TFP! We are debating whether or not to keep our pool or take it down indefinitely. Regardless of that decision, we need to take it down because if we decide to keep it, the ground definitely needs to be re-levelled and a piece of the wall needs to be hammered to be flat again. Just...

Consensus on solar blanket during slam? (+ a preventative question)

Hi TFP community! Unfortunately, my pool has succumbed to algae. I suspect it was due to a heavy rainfall washing gross looking crud off my solar cover into the pool and because of my work shift I couldn't address the water level and FC right away. Regardless, I'm currently 2 days into a slam...

Advice on plumbing for someone who has never done it before!

That seems like the most obvious solution, duh.... thank you!! Also, in my search for rigid pvc, is this one I found ok? It says sched 40 dwv, pressure rated for 330 psi.

Advice on plumbing for someone who has never done it before!

Great tips, I did read the pvc repair page but it's always good to have extra info and reminders! Thank you!! I didn't actually know there was a difference. I assume you are talking about the jandy one magitek just linked above ^ If so, this is what I was looking for but couldn't actually...

Advice on plumbing for someone who has never done it before!

This is exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately it does not seem to be for sale on the websites I have been looking at. Being in Canada sucks sometimes lol... do you happen to know if these can be found at common pool supply stores? I am actually going to visit family in NY state this week...

Advice on plumbing for someone who has never done it before!

If I leave it alone it will continue leaking and I don't want that! Honestly the flex tube hasn't given me any significant issues, it's the stupid fittings they've used. I am probably going to use hard pvc for what I add but keep the flex for the main line because it has worked for me. Do you...

Advice on plumbing for someone who has never done it before!

So you dont recommend any ball valve in between the filter and pump?? When I clean out the pump basket the water rushes back through the line and spills all over my feet. And no only 1 pump! That's why I wrote "or" cause I have 2 options!

Advice on plumbing for someone who has never done it before!

Hi TFP! I'm very excited to open my pool for the second time, however I do want to fix up some of my plumbing (that was inherited when we bought the house.) We have the tiger flex tubing (sched 40) and I am aware this should be glued as normal pvc, however the previous owners used all barbed...

When to fix skimmer leak (AGP)

Everyone has great suggestions and thats what I was going to do, but at the end of the season! I'm hoping to get an idea of epoxy or sealant for the inside under the face plate just as a temporary fix for the next few months to prevent the water loss

When to fix skimmer leak (AGP)

Any other opinions? Has anyone had any luck with a sealant on the inside of the pool at the skimmer plate? Like a marine epoxy

When to fix skimmer leak (AGP)

I had a feeling..... according to the old home owners, the pool was originally purchased in 2006 and liner was replaced in 2015

When to fix skimmer leak (AGP)

Sorry, it's not a great picture but it's hard because it's under the deck! You can see the drippy marks though

When to fix skimmer leak (AGP)

Hey everyone! I discovered a small leak under my skimmer, on the outside of the pool wall... I'm assuming the gasket is done. I ordered a new skimmer (Hayward Dyna Skim 1091WM) because it was on sale, and then of course I started to read up on it and the process seems more difficult than what I...

Week 1 of first time pool owner & opener

Oh, also is my pool math app hooked up to my account? I can't see my logs on the webpage, but I did buy the premium version. Also can my fiance get the app on his phone and we share the same pool data?

Week 1 of first time pool owner & opener

I will bring the sample in just to make sure for the metals I suppose, just in case! The old owners of the house used pucks, and our fill/rain water is less than 7 so upon opening it was quite low (originally 6.5 after I filled for the first time.) I was worried about my heater, so I obviously...

Good call! It's hard when you're a perfectionist!! I had my fiance vacuum the pool and he said it would be easier if he just got in to do it... and I said ok fine 🤣 then when he was done, I jumped in too! A nice 72 without the heater or solar cover set up! I am still interested in the answers...

Update: around 4 I added 2 lbs of borax to raise pH to 7.6.... just tested now FC 7.5 ppm PH 7.8 TA 110 Sad. I know they are still in range but still! I assume my 8000 gal estimate is off? I added the amount of LC pool math said to do and it was perfect! Should I continue my calculations...

Hey everyone! I've posted a multitude of questions lately and I am so thankful for everyone who has taken the time to answer my endless list of questions!
