Thanks, will go add acid, then test again to see how much bleach to add. I added 3 more jugs about an hour ago.

    Just Opened and...

Just tested CYA and filled entire view tube with dot still completely visible. I was concerned about increasing CYA with the constant backwashing, should I be concerned with that at this stage or is it better to get it increased? Not sure how much I should be using, but since Tuesday I have...

    Just Opened and...

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping I was on the right track. When I uncovered Tuesday night it was really really dark green (maybe brownish in spots). Been keeping CL levels high and brushing, shallow end is no longer green, deep end still is. Water is very cloudy. At mid-day my test...

    Just Opened and...

Just opened pool and have an issue I need to run by the experts... I am noticing the strength of water coming out of the returns is drastically reduced. If I switch my multi-port valve to recirculate it is back to full force. After a full wash of the grids in my DE filter and re-stocking with...

    New liner and new fill

I believe the TA was 30 so it will need to be raised.

    Liner Replacement

The new liner is in and the pool is filled. Overall the job was well done, some bumps along the way, but it is done and looks good.

    New liner and new fill

I just had a new liner put in on Friday which means a whole new fill. We had 29,000 gallons trucked in and topped the rest off via garden hose from our well. Testing today showed essentially no FC, pH of 7.5 and no CYA (may not have let the sample reach room temperature fully though). All I...

    Liner Replacement

Unfortunately I believed all of the good reviews about this company and went with them. The install is re-scheduled for today so hopefully everything goes smoothly and we are all done. Next time I am coming here first, no idea why I didn't think of that a month ago... :hammer:

    Liner Replacement

Scott: Thanks for the reply. Our pool is pretty high so I am not overly worried about the water table, would you add bead lock in more than the corners (it is another add-on we can do to do all the way around as opposed to the corners which is included). Thanks!

    Liner Replacement

Mainly extremely poor customer service - they have never followed up once, I have needed to call them for updates, they scheduled measuring 4 times and never showed up, when I called each night after they were supposed to be there I got some story about something else came up or whatever. Then...

    Liner Replacement

Has anyone used Forchetti Pools & Spas out of Morrisville PA before? I am under contract with them to replace my liner and have had nothing but issues :hammer: since the contract was signed. Thanks in advance.

    New Liner vs Gunite

We have an L shaped vinyl liner pool in need of a new liner. When thinking about doing the replacement a few thoughts came to mind. - One thought that came up was to reduce the size of the pool (we don't need all that space). - Then another thought was to possibly change to...

solar b lanket was ripped off the pool by wind and detached

In the past we have used either 3/4" or 1" PVC pipe filled with water and capped on both ends in long sections placed on the cover to hold it down when away for the weekend so we knew it wouldn't blow away.

To cover or not to cover...that is the qustion

I am by no means an expert, but I always was able to heat a pool to a higher temperature with the sun when covered as opposed to uncovered. We used to have one of the blue bubble-wrap style covers in the past (now it is too hard for my wife to roll and unroll with 2 small kids out there) and we...

    1st Test Results

Thanks Jason, I just noticed the typo on TC...guess my brain is not in pool mode yet. If I filled out the fields correctly, it looks like from the pool calculator I need roughly 10lbs of baking soda (edited to use TFP values on pool calculator) to raise the TA. How much will that change the pH?

Still pretty cool in NJ so not swimming season yet. I however needed to get my pump running since I am having my solar installed this coming week off came the cover and the season begins. Besides lots of worms and some leaves and dirt, the pool looked good; the water was clear and no visible...

Newbie wants to open pool by herself

Matt, I am in NJ also, and have paid much more than $350 for my pool to be opened when I had a service do it. Our pool is slightly larger with a DE filter, but still was a complete rip-off which is why they were dumped in favor of doing it ourselves and saving tons of money. Would be nice to...

Spring is near...time to make some changes

Hopefully everyone had a good winter, I have been away from pool mode for a few months since it is still pretty cold in NJ and we just had 10" of snow earlier this week, though it is supposed to warm up this weekend. With spring drawing near it is time to get back into pool mode and do some...

    Solar Heat Decision...

John, thanks for the reply. I actually had read your other post which is what made me wonder if I should be doing a DIY as opposed to spending so much :) The system we were quoted was roughly 60%, so more middle of the road, but probably still a little more than we need. Hopefully some...
