Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

Permitting City Pool Permit is in hand! City will need to perform a PVC inspection, bonding inspection, and pre-pour concrete/bonding inspection. It sounds like all of the rebar is going to be removed, and plumbing will be exposed for the PVC inspection. I've gotten commitment that the PB will...

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

Thanks Dirk. This site and the users have been invaluable. I'll consider this my build thread going forward. If the mods want to move it, I'm all for it. Auto-Fill: Not currently in scope. Hosebibs are ~50 feet away in each direction. PB never brought it up and I hadn't planned on pursuing it...

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

The plot thickens. After contacting the city to inquire about hiring out their inspection services, I've found that the city actually has a "development agreement" with our subdivision (even though we are outside of the city limits in an "ETJ") and a Pool Permit is required. This was never...

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

Agreed. They will not be pouring as-is. I've contacted the nearest city as well as the Pool Manufacturer to ask for on-site inspections (responses pending from both). At a minimum, I am going to require that they 1) Remove the re-bar 2) Trench and cover the existing flex tubing 3) Prep the...

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

I witnessed the original backfill and gravel was used and tamped down pretty extensively. Then a few inches of roadbase were placed on top (this is why none is visible). The trench was then dug out by hand. I suspect they ended up using common fill for a part of the re-fill here (again, I...

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

Not many inspections as we are outside of the city limits. Only the electrical run and the bonding are scheduled to be inspected as far as I am aware. That said, I would absolutely value a third party inspector. Do you have any recommendations on how to track one down? Some quick googling...

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

Background on the voids under the pool: Pool was "hand set" set (slid into the hole by a group of 5 men - see photo below), backfilled with gravel (I insisted on gravel vs. sand) and the gravel was fairly well compacted. Once the pool was filled, I walked the floor and noted a large area...

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

Thanks for the quick help. Cut corners and strange decisions seem to be a regular occurrence with this build. I’ll push back on trenching the plumbing. I doubt I would have much success in convincing them to re-plumb with rigid plumbing, so I will let that be.

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

As it stands right now, I believe they intend to simply pour concrete right over the plumbing. This gave me pause, as I would have assumed the plumbing should be buried before concrete. Is this something we should push back on? No idea if it is a problem, or normal.

Should plumbing be completely buried before concrete?

We are approaching the concrete pour on our small FG build. Project was delayed by a month as the PB had to dig down to help fill in hollow voids under the pool floor (they decided to “hand set” and slide the pool into the hole rather than using a crane, resulting in a very uneven base). Before...

    Precautions to manage stormwater runoff

We are having a small 10’x16’ in ground fiberglass pool installed, and I have some concerns about stormwater management. Our backyard has a large swale which handles storm runoff during heavy rains. The pool will be adjacent to this swale and water will likely flow directly onto one corner. In...

Heat/Cool pump for a tiny pool in Central Texas - terrible idea?

To clarify our most pressing questions: How effective would a Heat/Cool pump (of 120k - 140k BTU) be at heating a small pool during a Texas Winter (lows in the 40's typically) Are there any heat pumps TFP would recommend for year-round utility? The Icebreaker line seems to heavily promote their...

Heat/Cool pump for a tiny pool in Central Texas - terrible idea?

Thanks for the resources. I'm actually trying to iron out exactly which model HP they will be using, the bid only says "Hayward Heat/Cool Pump." I'm assuming it is the HP31204T (120,000 BTU), as this appears to be the only model Hayward offers with cooling capability.

Heat/Cool pump for a tiny pool in Central Texas - terrible idea?

Background and Vision We are looking to build a very small in-ground fiberglass pool with year-round utility. Unfortunately we have very limited space due to drainage running through our back yard and the HOA will not allow hot tubs (greenbelt view). The specific pool we are looking at, the...
