    1st year keeping pool open

Pump lid is full of water and moving. I have a whole house generator that the pool is connected to, and it has been tested and works. Need to see if I have any pool noodles hanging around ;-)

    1st year keeping pool open

This year I got a SWCG and VSP, and decided to keep pool open. Have pump running at 1000rpm. We have frigid temps from this arctic blast, and 2 days ago, pool looked good. Didn't get out yesterday, but today, there is a good bit of ice over entire surface. Don't know thickness but not cracking...

    too much chlorine

What a first world problem... my Core 55 has been doing great. Last evening, my FC was 11 and I turned the unit off. Checked this morning and I'm sure there was a little error, as FC was 8.5. I left SWCG off all day, and at 7pm tonight, FC was still 9.5. I just keep my VSP on 1000 all the...

    air bubbles in SWCG

So I angled the Core 55 about 10-15 degrees to the back of the unit so the sensors on that side were covered, and I am back down to 1000RPM on my VSP and the No flow light has not come on again :-)

    air bubbles in SWCG

I read somewhere that the "air pocket" could affect the salinity sensor which is on the opposite side of cell from flow switch. So it was recommended to angle the unit towards the back to keep the salinity sensor covered. Will try that also

    air bubbles in SWCG

I'm seeing how long I can dial down RPM until it happens again. had it at 1200prm and this morning no flow light was on. With the pressures, I meant it was the typical pressure for the speed pump was set at, there hasn't been any deviations in pressure. And actually, it has been about 2 months...

    air bubbles in SWCG

Just saw your post Marty. Pressures stay the same at different speeds, but will clean it again and see what happens.

    air bubbles in SWCG

It's weird how in 1 month of no problems and no changes, it suddenly shows no flow light even though I see flow and the flow switch is deviated a good bit (but I don't know if it would deflect more (or max.) at higher speeds.

    air bubbles in SWCG

I have read several older threads about air bubbles trapped in SWCG, especially at low pump speeds. I have had my Core 55 since beginning of June. For the whole month of July, up until about a week ago, I have been running my VSP at 1000rpm, with 2 15 min sessions of 2500, just to flush out any...

    thank you TFP

Thanks to the member who had a thread about supporting sections of PVC! I needed something for my SWCG and used a 4-hole cross connector with 3in on 2 sides and 2in on other 2. I just cut it in half and the 2in side went on left over PVC and the 3 inch side supported the underneath of the...

Makes sense. My anal-retentive self can really go down a rabbit hole on possible what ifs

    SWCG safeties

I have someone check on my pets when we are gone so I could just have them jlcheck the pump also lol

    SWCG safeties

If it gives the "voltage sag" error, it stays off until you unplug it and plug it back in. Maybe I just got to accept flow switch as a backup if that happens again as new dude mentioned. Just wondered if SWCG was wired directly to pump if that is doable and if it would help

    SWCG safeties

I have read multiple posts through the years about not relying on SWCG flow switch as primary safety. I have a Core 55 and a Circupool Smartflo 1.5hp VSP. I plan on running them 24/7 and saw that this can help negate the need for a timer or anything. Problem I have is that last time power went...

    Corrosion from metal on steps

It looks like it from outside, but there's an inner lip on bottom part I have the zip ties running through.

    Corrosion from metal on steps

So I got the screws and metal plates off, but the plastic is stained...at least it's in the pool and not as noticeable, and used zip ties as was suggested. Hopefully, they will stand the test of time ;-) Chemistries are looking good though, and I've had the Core 55 at 25%.

    Corrosion from metal on steps

Thank you for your replies. Kinda figured iron oxide wouldn't be good building up in the pool. Had some larger people and kids hanging and pulling on rails that it broke down. Was trying to avoid buying a whole new set of stairs. will check into the zip tie suggestion. Will let you know how it...

    Corrosion from metal on steps

So the stairs I have are screwed together and the top and middle pieces were breaking apart at the screws. I got these galvanized "plates" that I was told wouldn't rust and SS screws, but looks like it is rusting due to SWCG. I know we worry about the metal walls of the pool rusting out, but...

    question about reading TA

So, what color red is the endpoint for TA levels? I do a drop at a time, and it seems like it turns kinda purple and then progressively more red, so that can be b/w 100 and 120 depending on the redness of red... which is still above ideal for SWCG as per TFP. Still being pt on that but...

    New CORE55

Got poolmath to show my logs. Everything looks ok, but salinity went down, it was at 3500 (500 change seems like a big decrease from putting salt in 3 weeks ago)... and of course, it tells me TA is out of rec range.

    New CORE55

I just signed up for premium pool math so haven't done it with CSI yet, but will post it when I get it. So with premium, can I post all my test results under my name so I don't have to type everything out?

    New CORE55

2 quick questions. 1) TA: Pool school mentions 60-80 TA as ideal with SWCG. After reading a lot of posts through the years, I've seen "just let it come down or balance out" (mine has been around 120-130), but then others say you need TA down along with CSI to prevent scaling on the cell. I have...
