    Opening and Converting to SWG

Hello! We have decided to simplify life this year by purchasing a robot cleaner and converting to salt. I'm planning to order the RJ60 from Discount Salt Pool. I am thinking that we will install it before opening pool, open with normal SLAM method and get balanced and clear, then try to figure...

Sand in pool after deep cleaning

Well. New sand in and everything up and running. The laterals seemed fine so no repairs needed. We did have a dirtier than usual pool this year due to holes in the mesh safety cover ( ordering new one as soon as I figure that out). So we were going to replace sand at end of season or...

Sand in pool after deep cleaning

Well darn it does not really feel like sand, it kind of disperses. But why would it be right at thr return jet?

Sand in pool after deep cleaning

I assume it's sand because it is near the return jets. I went ahead and vacuumed the sand out of the filter just now (how fun is that). The laterals are all attached, no visible damage. 🤔 but difficult to inspect because it cannot be removed from filter. I assume I could remove the laterals...

Sand in pool after deep cleaning

Thanks for the idea! Any advice on parts to have on hand before beginning? I don't want to get into the process and not have what I need. Not sure whether to get a lateral assembly or just a few of the individual laterals. I'll have to call around when stores open to see what's available. Thanks!

Sand in pool after deep cleaning

Hello! We did a deep.clean of the sand on Thursday, and then yesterday (Saturday) i noticed sand in the pool especially near return jets. It was probably there before yesterday, I just couldn't see it due to water clarity. I vacuumed it up and this morning it looks just as bad. I'm worried...

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

I do appreciate this. It has probably kept me as well as many others from jumping on the floc train without proper understanding and consideration. Still undecided. But thanks for the info!

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

Thank you for the feedback. Would polyquat kill the "hidden" algae?

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

I understand why floc is not recommended in general. But if I do it properly, I feel like we will not be wasting so many days of swimming. I know how long my pool takes to go from cloudy to clear and we are looking at weeks IF it starts clearing up now. That would put me minimum 4 weeks of...

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

Okay, I just removed the light. There was a tiny bit of algae on the inner rim of the light. The place it attaches to looks clean as far as I can tell. I ran the brush over it.

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

And yes on the light, I will remove and inspect. That can really be a cause of cloudy pool? I had no idea!

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

Clarifier brand was Utikem, something my husband picked up locally. Used about 12 oz per instruction. When you say examine the drain, you mean dive down and feel it out? There's probably no seeing it thru the clouds. Oh good lordy that water is cold lol. 🥶 I know the drain is not clogged...

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

Sure, thanks for responding! FC 12 CYA 30 PH 7.2 TA 100 We do have a drain, how do you go about inspecting it? It's in the 8 ft deep end. We have a light that i have scrubbed the exterior of with the pool brush. No recessed steps or anything else. Ladder has not been installed for the season...

How do you know when your filter is the problem?

Hello, This is my 3rd or 4th year using the troublefreepool.com method on my 33k gal in ground vinyl pool and I've been very successful at maintaining a crystal clear pool. This year, however, I have been slamming for 11 days now and still can't see the bottom of the shallow. The pool is blue...

Will honeybees be a problem with saltwater?

Will honeybees be a problem with saltwater?

Hi, Well I was about to convince my husband to install a SWCG system, then today he came home and said NO saltwater. He.had been to visit a neighbor who is a beekeeper (maybe 1 or 2 miles from us...that's 'neighbor ' around here!) The beekeeper told us that another family on the other side of...

    Thinking of converting

Running the pump 12 hours is fine. I haven't calculated how long it needs to run. Where is the best place to get a deal on the RJ60? A quick search shows it is around $1500. A bit higher than I was thinking. Is this a good investment as far as cost savings or is it more for convenience? Thanks...

    Thinking of converting

Hello! We have a 30k gal vinyl liner pool in southern indiana. Currently we do not have a timer on our pump and it ends up running 24/7. My husband has agreed to add a timer this season. We are open and nearing the end of SLAM, just waiting for water to clear. This is my 2nd season of using TFP...
