Let the fun begin in La Quinta

Today, after a few delays we got our Stonescapes Carribean Blue mini pebble. Thanks for all the help along the way and the great info from @onBalance for what to look out for during the process. Bicarb start up tomorrow after the acid wash. I was happy with the install, spent some time tarping...

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

Alright @onBalance I will be doing a bicarb start up. The plaster guy has heard of the process but has never performed one. Surprisingly he is willing to stand by his warranty and wants to be a part of the process. I have my drum all set up and will stop by costco for some baking soda tonight so...

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

Just tested my tap water and here are the results - FC - 0 TC - 0 CH - 250 TA - 110 PH - 7.8 I plan on using Startup Tec during the fill. Is there anything I should have on hand to adjust the fill water during or immediately after the fill? Thanks

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

Well it has been a while since I have posted the progress of my build, so I figure it is about time for an update. As it seems with so many pool builds, delays are bound to happen at one phase or another... Ours was with concrete. We have a raised patio behind the pool and cantilever concrete...

New OB build in La Quinta California - first time pool owner

Oh my, that does get hot. I will go for the cooler one for sure. Sounds like increasing the amount of shade is going to be key as well. Thanks for this info

Might be cheaper than a new line set for the a/c compressor though... Thanks again

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

I was worried that might be the case. The plan was for the mini split ac condenser to be turned 90 degrees and basically go where the trash can is. Two options. Option 1 - Have the compressor moved to the other side of the doorway (just out of the picture) and place the pool controller in...

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

Well plumbing is coming to an end so now on to getting rid of some of this dirt, and getting to work on the concrete coping and patio. I have a question regarding the equipment pad. I have a limited amount of space for the pad, it will end up being about 3' x 10', and I need to get the following...

New OB build in La Quinta California - first time pool owner

I was just checking out the Purchase Green site. Since you commented about the temperature of the turf I was looking at the "cool yarn" options. Did you go with one of those options and it is still super hot? They suggest that the cool yarn products are 10% - 20% cooler than regular artificial...

New OB build in La Quinta California - first time pool owner

OGSW - Yeah it looks like our pools are very similar. The completion of my pool is a bit further out than yours but hopefully it keeps moving along at a good pace. Hope everything works out and you get that 4th of July party you are hoping for.

New OB build in La Quinta California - first time pool owner

York - Man what an ordeal you went through, but it looks like in the end with a lot of work on your side you have a great looking back yard. Thanks for all the helpful pointers. I am sure that I will be hitting you up for help along the way. Our coping is 18" and based on your suggestions and...

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

Thanks again for everyone's feedback. I think we finally have the pool surface, tile, and stone all picked out. Waiting for some samples that needed to be ordered before we know for sure but I think we got it. I will post some pictures when the samples come in next week. The build is...

New OB build in La Quinta California - first time pool owner

York - Thanks for all this great information. Plumbers are trenching for all the plumbing tomorrow so great timing on some of this stuff. I was around for the dig, steel, and gunite and like you said I am glad I was. There were plenty of questions and corrections made those days.... I was...

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

HAHA on the gunite envy, it is a real thing. I felt the same way before we started the dig. Yeah it is starting to warm up so I have been spending a bunch of time with the shell. Hand watering 3 times a day and sprinkler/soaker on a timer watering a couple more while I am at work during the hot...

And then there was gunite... Everything went smoothly today. The guys got here at 6am and left around 2pm. I guess we really need to start selecting tile and pool surfaces now .

Thanks. Design is all my wife, she really got into it. Dimensions are all looking good, I have been measuring pretty much everything while my little one is tucking down all of the wire twist ties holding the rebar together. Family project for sure!
