    Do you still brush

The robot definitely spoiled me. I will periodically brush the tan shelves during dustier/windier periods but otherwise it might be weeks in between brushing

    Robot cleaner "collecting" salt?

Will do. I think I've been targeting 7.2 each time I adjust higher pH, so I will target 7.8 for now and see how this fairs. Still have to see what's up with the dropping salt readings, but we can deal with that once I get a more accurate testing method tomorrow. Since it's a string of long...

    Robot cleaner "collecting" salt?

Hm.. curious indeed. Even adjusting for water temp of 92, it’s still at approximately-0.46 so I definitely have a low margin of error. I did a water exchange last year to drop CYA. If i recall correctly, CH was around 375-400 prior to that My TA has been consistently at 50ish for the last 8-9...

    Robot cleaner "collecting" salt?

I believe winter the pH stayed pretty consistent around 7.8 with no major intervention required. There is quite a bit of scale at the waterline though on the tile layer. Pool is at least 10-13 years old and was pool route maintained before so the history of the water chemistry beyond the 1 year...

    Robot cleaner "collecting" salt?

Thank you @mknauss ! It was a long shot :) i tried some muriatic acid over dried up residue and it did fizz. So this means this is calcium dissolving ? I am hoping that with a good CSI this is not the plaster but just the lime scale. i have ordered a K1766 for an accurate measurement of salt...

    Robot cleaner "collecting" salt?

Hi folks, Not quite sure what to make of this and it's somewhat of a wild guess but here goes. I converted to a SWCG last summer and have head pretty steady salt readouts through the seasons and beyond. I got my Pentair Warrior SE (S200 clone) end of December and around February when water...

Thanks folks for the sage advice! Will go the dedicated chemical method.

    Finally need to add CYA

Hi all, A year ago when I first switched to the TFP method, I took over a pool with a CYA ~ 140, constantly dropping FC levels and a weekly pool service bill. Today, I am a happy owner of a never-cloudy pool that I enjoy maintaining. I decided to re-test my CYA since after my last attempted...

Thanks @mknauss ! Email sent and will report back my experience with this.

    Diverter valve replacement parts

Hi folks, I have two diverter valves for solar isolation installed way back when with an unknown origin/manufacturer. One of them is definitely not sealing as it should but given the age I would like to refresh both of them. I am trying to understand if generic Jandy or CMP parts will fit (one...

    Abandoning booster pump return line

I love it! I think that will be the first thing I will attempt - beats screwing in and out the cap. Thank you very much for the advice.

    Abandoning booster pump return line

Picture of the plumbing from the install thread where my "oopsie" is shown: https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/sanity-check-before-swg-and-new-pump-install.187152/#post-1659063 Basically once the solar at the top closes to redirect all water to the roof, due to an "opening" available at...

    Abandoning booster pump return line

Thank you all! I am already spoiled with a autofill valve. The reason for the abandonbent is due to a little fluke i did when replumbing for swg. I have a solar heater and if i have the solar on, i would loose quite a bit of pressure due to the cleaner T being before the solar valve and not...

    Abandoning booster pump return line

Hi all, Recently my booster pump finally died and i happily became a new owner of a Pentair Warrior SE from Marina's Pool and Spa (basically Pentair branded S200) I want to abandon the return line to the pool and remove the pump but am a bit unsure of the best way to proceed. I could cap off...

Ph Drops when pump is on low speed, why? (Hayward pro-logic, 13,000gal SWpool w/chlorine generator)

Is it at all possible that the low speed does not create enough flow for proper dissolving and most acidic water is at the top layer(s) where the sample is taken from?

Sanity check before SWG and new pump install

Hi all, Wanted to post an updated with what I've done. 1) Definitely do not regret this decision at all - ended up going with an IntelliFlo 3HP instead of the 1.5 HP SuperFlo. After doing a lot of excel math, I figured that the 3HP would actually have a lower ROI period due to being able to...

Sanity check before SWG and new pump install

I should add - if installing the aquarite before the booster pump is an option, I would go all in on that! Would save me getting a new length of reinforced pentair hose as well as remove mucking around at the bottom of that pipe run.

Sanity check before SWG and new pump install

Hi all, I decided to bite the bullet and get an Aquarite T15 SWG system and a new Superflo VS 1.5 HP pump to replace my old 3/4 single speed Hayward northstar pump. As with many things, in cost savings attempt I am very seriously debating doing this as a DYI as far as replumbing. Since I...

    Pump noise on lower PSI

Hi all, I have two 3/4 Northstar pumps and decided to swap them around since the falls pump is barely used and has less wear on it. The primary was starting to show signs of wear (lower PSI, higher noise). The swap went successful. The PSI went from 4 to 8 on non-solar loop and from 12 to ~ 15...

    New member - getting started

~ 1 month update. So far it's been an easy and enjoyable journey. The chlorine consumption is indeed on the higher end (4-5 ppm/day) but we do get 3/4 sun exposure every day + I run the solar loop for ~ 5 hours or so (I am not sure if UV exposure penetrates the rubber tubing there). OCLT shows...
