No/low return pressure, no suction, non-functional Polaris

Ok thank you. Also, after I backwash and there happens to still be no/limited skimmer suction, how would I get the DE back into the filter?

No/low return pressure, no suction, non-functional Polaris

Is it worth me back washing? Thanks!

No/low return pressure, no suction, non-functional Polaris

Yea to multi valve. Since recirculate bypasses the filter, can all the algae in the filter destroy the hard work of SLAM once I get the water back through the filter? Thanks.

No/low return pressure, no suction, non-functional Polaris

Oh darn it. Would back washing be sufficient or would I need to take it apart again? Is there any point running the pump until I can clean the filter?

No/low return pressure, no suction, non-functional Polaris

Last cleaned it 3 weeks ago, full dismantle and washing of filter grids. Filter pressure is now around 40 and clean was 20.

No/low return pressure, no suction, non-functional Polaris

Ok, so I’m getting ready to SLAM today and ran some chemistry tests for baseline numbers. Went to add some MA to balance pH and saw that there was no vortex of water from the return jets. One jet has no flow or pressure to be felt with my hand and the other two have minimal return flow felt...

No to the skimmer sock. This is the first time I’ve heard of one!

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

Hey TFP, I wanted to give an update on the resurrection of my pool. So I haven’t had a chance to SLAM it as are in Oak tree shedding season in Texas and every spare second is trying to get on top of the leaf situation. Anyway, I tried tackled the leaves today and it’s beyond insane. The water...

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

I have two more items to clarify: 1. A few members recommended not adding stabilizer. Therefore, will adding chlorine as per the SLAM method help with the ammonia issue? Once FC is at the desired level and not dropping significantly with subsequent tests during the process, should I then add...

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

Sorry, I read your post as you were recommending I add more ammonia. My apologies.

How much ammonia do I add?

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

Great, thank you all. I won’t have time this week to try again but next weekend I’ll tackle it. So to clarify: Should I leave CYA alone despite it likely being really low? Drop ph to 7.2? Add bleach to shock level and test after 10 minutes? Thank you! On a side note, my wife called a pool...

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

4 - Can you give us an idea why the green so early when the water is still probably chilly (unless you heat)? Just so we have an idea of how it got to this point. The green is from lack of maintenance. No heat. 5 - Have you added anything else to the water recently other than bleach or...

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

Target shock FC is 12 and I never got above 1 with testing every 30 minutes despite adding the required bleach from the pool calc.

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

Thank you for all those pointers. Wish I had posted before I began as I feel what I did today is a waste of money. I’ll update answers to all your questions shortly.

Should I buy another 10 bottles and add more than what the calculator tells me?

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

Thank you. The problem is I’m at 1ppm and my calculated shock FC level is 11. I cannot even get close. I’d need to buy out the store of bleach.

Using a lot of bleach for SLAM

Hi all, I’ve begun tackling my green pool today. I cleaned out the filter and began slamming this morning. I’ve been testing every 30 minutes and each time my free chlorine is at 1ppm. I am adding well over a bottle of 121oz 8.25% bleach every 30 minutes and I’ve already gone through 10 bottles...
