    New pool waterline cleaning

Hi! We have a new concrete pool with some 1x2 glass tile around the waterline. I understand that it is more susceptible to scum and scale buildup than ceramic tile. Everything looks good now and I religiously keep the water chemicals in line. My question is what technique or chemicals are...

Low levels of Combined Clorine - problem?

Thank you Jim, that makes me feel better! Yes, I understand. I was experimenting with the Heat Pump because it doesn't run efficiently early in the morning and works best at 65gpm. So that's why I was messing around with the "pool, pool high, pool low" settings. I learned something now. :-)

Low levels of Combined Clorine - problem?

I had been playing with my pump schedule times this past week to be more efficient and didn't realize the SWG only works during the main "Pool" schedule. :-/ My Chlorine level dropped to about 1.0 before I figured it out and adjusted the pool run times back. It's now raising back and currently...

Question about new pool & CA

Ok, thank you both! Just trying to get a grip on proper adjustment technique and balance. So it's not necessarily precise chemical ranges, it's the CSI that is most important. Correct?

Question about new pool & CA

Ok thank you, I don't know much about pool chemicals so I will take your word for it. I am a pretty precise guy so when I see values I try to stick to them. Do the rest of the chemical ranges have some "extra latitude" in them as well?

Question about new pool & CA

The TFP guidelines say between 350--450 for a plaster pool with SWG. Am I confused?

Question about new pool & CA

Pool w/diamond brite was filled Dec 19th so the plaster is approx 4 months old. Everything looks crystal clear and keeping an eye on the PH and adding acid every day or two. The question I have is about the calcium hardness, should I add a little to bring it in range? Or leave it alone right now...

Crystal clear pool but lots surface dust

Thank you all for the quick responses! I will get the skimmer socks and start using the gauge for backwashing from now on instead of a schedule.

Crystal clear pool but lots surface dust

YippeeSkippy- Haha I am hoping you are correct and that makes so much sense. The pollen isn't as bad as it was 2 weeks ago but I'm sure it's still coming down somewhat. Do the pool circulation settings look ok? I will try skimmer socks also!

Crystal clear pool but lots surface dust

Hey guys, thank you for replying so quickly. Yes, we had bad pollen about 2 weeks ago, it was terrible! I was wondering if the skimmer settings looked good, I was hoping that may be the issue. Texas Splash- Test results yesterday were - FC 5.0 , CC 0 , PH 7.8 , TA 70 , CH 330 , CYA 70 , SALT...

Crystal clear pool but lots surface dust

So glad I found this forum. My pool has been so awesome and crystal clear since the builders turned it over. Maybe too good. Now I can see what looks like dust motes in sunlight, just on the very surface. Its way too small for the net. Is this something that just happens since it’s outdoor w/...

    New Pool - PH Question

Thank you Allen and Marty. I will try the Ph test to narrow it down. I was thinking smaller also but they said no. I wasn’t aware that the MA reacts so fast to get a good reading in 30 min. I was waiting 24 hours between tests. Maybe that’s what confused me if the Ph went up again in that time.?

    New Pool - PH Question

I will test the ph of the fill water this afternoon, but I don’t have a automatic filler. Just a hose, I haven’t needed it yet. Hi Marty, yes I am using pool math. My size calculations maybe off? I was told 23000 gallons. 17x32 4’ shallow to 5’ deep end 17x6 tanning ledge 8” deep That doesn’t...

    New Pool - PH Question

I will check on the fill water and see. I put acid yesterday morning to bring it down to 7.8 and this morning it tests pink a little above 8 again. Is this normal? It’s crazy fast. Thank you

    New Pool - PH Question

Hi Allen I have waterfalls but they are on a timer and only turn on Saturday-Sunday. No spa. I read that the waterfalls will bump up the PH. However not sure how much is too much. It seems to be a fine art that I’m trying to learn as best I can. Marty, I’m going to keep a close eye on it and...

    New Pool - PH Question

Hello all. is it normal for PH to rise to 8+ every 2 days or so on a new gunite pool(2 months old)? I have to add between 30-40oz of 20 baum acid every couple days. They turned it over to me 2 weeks ago and I am struggling to keep the PH below 8. I think I may be overtesting right now(every...
