Sand in pool, no broken laterals

Thanks for the tips. I'll try putting a sock or something over the return jets and see if they catch anything. Hopefully I don't have to remove the sand from the filter again :).

Sand in pool, no broken laterals

It is a side mount and unfortunately one where I can't easily remove the standpipe to take a look at it. I think it's probably not a issue with the plumbing being backward though since I've been running it without issue for about 8 years.

Sand in pool, no broken laterals

I have a Hayward S244S sand filter and after opening my pool last week I noticed that my pool cleaner was picking up quite a bit of sand. I had a broken lateral several years ago that I replaced so I assumed another one had broken. I took out all of the sand and have checked the laterals, none...

Hayward HeatPro Heat Pump Negative Temperature

I wasn't 100% sure so I ordered another temp probe this time with the HPX2169 part number from the manual rather than a random temperature sensor. It turns out even with this correct temperature sensor it's still reading a negative temperature on the heat pump itself. The temperature on the...

Hayward HeatPro Heat Pump Negative Temperature

I have a Hayward HeatProd heat pump that I've had for several years. This winter an animal decided to chew through the wires that connect the water temperature gauge to the heater. As a result I had an error code P indicating that the water temperature circuit was shorted and the temperature on...

    Pool temperature reading is wrong

I thought they both sourced their temperature from the same sensor but I guess I'll find out.

    Pool temperature reading is wrong

I have a "control panel" that is fairly similar to EasyTouch Control Systems. I don't use it to control the temperature though I think in theory I could and it does display the temperature. I do control the temperature directly on the heat pump itself. I have a thermometer on order so I'll...

    Pool temperature reading is wrong

My pool temperature reading has been accurate since we've had the pool for the past two years. Last night I turned the heater on and it showed 76 degrees which seemed low but I thought might be correct and I let the heater run over night. This morning it was still reading 76 degrees both on...

SWG not properly detecting salt level

Crazy. I guess I've just been lucky then since we bought this house 2 years ago and I think the SWG has had this problem the whole time. I honestly hadn't even realized that there was a separate flow detector, I had been assuming that was part of the salt cell functionality to detect flow. In...

SWG not properly detecting salt level

Awesome, this is extremely helpful. I'll let you know how it goes.

SWG not properly detecting salt level

I just played around with this a bit and it looks like it isn't correctly switching on "No Flow" when the pump stops. If I wiggle the wire that goes to the flow detector then it does flip to "No Flow" and then when I turn the pump back on it correct detects there is flow again and the light...

SWG not properly detecting salt level

Interesting. Since we bought the house the SWG control panel has never shutoff when the pump is off, I guess maybe that is the problem. I have a Pentair SuperFlo pump.

SWG not properly detecting salt level

Yep, the instant salinity is right now after I manually set the salt water level following the process that you outlined. The problem is though that if I turn the pump off for 12 hours and then turn it back on that instant salt level will read 0 until I manually set the salt level again. The...

SWG not properly detecting salt level

    Pool Temperature - 74 Voltage - 25.2 Amps - 4.48 Desired Output - 100 Instant Salt Level - -3800 (This reads 0 after the pump is off for 12 hours and started up again) Program Code - AL-0 Version - 1.58 Cell - E-9 I purchased Amazon.com: Blueworks BLT9 Cell | T-Cell-9 Compatible with Hayward...

SWG not properly detecting salt level

I've updated my signature and it's a Hayward Aqua Rite T-9. Thanks.

SWG not properly detecting salt level

I have a Hayward Aqua Rite salt water generator that doesn't seem to detect the salt level correctly. I have a salt level in the pool at ~3300 PPM after adding salt earlier this year and testing the level with test strips. Whenever the SWG starts up though it gets a reading closer to 2200 PPM...

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

I got the Cyclone today and just finished up blowing out the lines for a second time. It didn't get a ton more water out but a bit, certainly enough to help me sleep over the winter and I'm sure it will make the whole process faster next year. The only lingering question is me trying to...

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

I did order a 6' hose to put on the Cyclone. The only thing I won't have is the modified pump lid like you've described and like the guys who closed my pool last year had. I think I'll be able to do all the blowouts through the skimmers and other pipe disconnects at the pad.

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

Thanks for the quick response! I ended up just ordering a Cyclone so I can blow out the lines again for some peace of mind. On booster pump my question wasn't so much how to drain the pump itself but rather if I need to blow out the line between the booster pump and the pool in addition to the...

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

First of all thanks for all of the help, I've been using your writeup as a guide and spent the majority of my day today working on closing the pool :) I have 2 outstanding questions that I don't think were answered directly in other posts that I've read. 1) I blew out the return lines and...

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

I hadn't seen your post but I just started reading it, good stuff! What are your thoughts about using a pancake compressor (https://www.whiteheadindustrial.com/p-35732-150-psi-6-gl-oil-free-pancake-compressor-no-c2002.aspx?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqK2BjM_13QIV0sDICh1-MADXEAQYBCABEgIwz_D_BwE) vs. the...

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

I haven't actually blown out any lines yet, I'm just trying to get my game plan ready. Once I do close it though I was planning to set the MPV to close, I don't think that mine has a winterize setting. Thanks for the advice on getting antifreeze into the line and good call on removing the...

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

I'm attaching a few pictures of the equipment pad. I'm fairly certain they added the antifreeze after the returns had been capped with winter plugs. What I remember fairly clearly was that they popped off the winter plugs briefly to ensure that they could see the antifreeze coming through and...

Thanks. That said I'd still like recommendations on how to get antifreeze into the return lines.

    Adding Antifreeze to return lines

I had a company come out and close my pool last winter. I took notes while they were doing it so I could do it myself this year and ongoing. In my notes I see that they had somehow added antifreeze to the return lines and verified that antifreeze was coming out of the return lines before...
