    Filter blowing dirty water

I've had the pool for 7 or 8 years, was going great until April this year, couldn't keep the water clear. It was clean, just cloudy. Talked to a few pool people and they said it was time to change the sand. I did, it was great, nice clear and beautiful, well for 4 months, now here we are in...

Time to change filter sand, thinking of going glass.

I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I'm thinking of switching out my sand for crushed glass. I used to be in the media blasting business and have access to crushed glass in a variety of screen sizes, 10/20, 20/40, 40/70. 1. would you recommend switching to glass as a filter? 2. would...

    Chlorine Injector, Pucks vs Liquid

I currently have a Hasa Liquid Chlorine injector, but see that the inline puck injectors have really come down in price. So I'm just wondering which is cheaper, pucks vs liquid, and the pros vs cons for each.

Moving from Cartridge to DE, what system to use?

We have an AG 18' Doughboy pool, that we are looking at moving up to DE filtration. I've been looking at the Hayward Perflex Extended-Cycle, EC50AC. Anyone have any experience with this system, any thoughts or ideas? Is there any drawbacks to moving up to DE?

    Picture Pefect, almost..

I opened my AG this weekend. It was crystal clear and beautiful. I've had it covered all winter, but still ran it every two weeks for about 4 hours and put some liquid chlorine in it each run. Opened it up, the PH is perfect, the Chlorine needs to come up a bit, but its perfectly clear. Ran...

AG running pump with cover on?

I have an 18' AG. Here in Texas it may get below 30 just a few days out of the year, so I don't close the pool, I just trim back how long the pump runs and make sure it runs during the freezing temps. However, I always get junk in the pool, and still always having to clean it. So I was...

Algae growing in AG pool ladder

I pulled my ladder out today to scrub the pool real good and noticed algae growing all in the back side of the ladder. Its a plastic type of ladder, and has a bunch of areas on the backside for junk to grow. I just recently had an algae bloom in the pool and used yellow out to get rid of it...

    Liquid Chlorine and TDS

I've been using the HAAS liquid Chlorine injector, works great. Been getting my liquid chlorine from the pool warehouse. However today I didn't feel like going that far so I went back to my pool stealer (dealer) and bought some there. He informed me that liquid chlorine is high in TDS and...

    Filling A Hasa Chlorine Injector

I've installed the 4Gallon Hasa Chlorine Injector, upgraded to the 3/8" kit, works great. The issue that I've come across is how to add the chlorine in. Do you put in one gallon and wait a few days, then put in another one? I find that when it gets low, the only way to add the 4 Gallons is to...

    Cleaning the cover

I can clean the cover, condition it, and yet two days later it looks like a car from a junk yard. I have so much pollen and gunk on it. Whats your thoughts on using a car wax, maybe one that you mix in the water? Or any other thoughts on cleaning and protecting my cover?

    Thanks for saving me money.

I just wanted to say thanks for helping me save. In this economy, every little bit helps. I started using the BBB method about a month ago and I cant beleive the results. I now have a Hasa Chlorine Injector, pushing the liquid chlorine and I've been using the muratic acid to drop the PH. I...

    water evaporation vs leak

What should I expect to see in evaporation here in SE Texas? Right now I'm losing about 1" of water per week. I've crawled all around the plumbing, checked everything and cant find any leaks. We are in a drought right now, so I'm not sure how much the weather is affecting the loss of water.

    Cleaning The Filters

Our Dealer told us to take the filters out twice a month and rise them out with a water hose real good, then every 3 months or so, when we drain to clean, to put the filters in the dishwasher with no soap. Whats your thoughts on putting the filters in the dishwasher? Would it tear up the filter?

    Scum Line

What's the best way to clean the scum line once I drain the hot tub, what cleaner works best. Also, while full and running, what should I be putting in to help prevent the scum line. I'm currently running bromine, and shocking once a week.

    AG Doughboy - Salt Question

We were told by the dealer to never run salt in an above ground pool, as it will rust out the metal frame, screws, etc. Yet I see here on this forum that quite a few are running salt in their AG's. For those that are running salt, do you find it an issue with the metal frame? Thanks, Richard

    Aeration to raise PH

I've read and trust that this works, but can someone explain why or how aerating raises the PH?

    Aeration

I was thinking of putting a T into my return line, coming up with 3/4" pvc, and putting a water spicket on it. Then using a short hose connected to a cheap plastic sprinkler, sitting on top of my deck which is level with the top of my pool, to use as an aerator. When the pump is running, I...

    Alkalinity vs. PH

My alkalinity is off the charts, but my PH is in range. When talking to the pool store, they tell me to put in 10 lbs of PH Minus, so I did, dropped my PH way low, but brought the alkalinity down some. Though it still was not in range. So now the pool store tells me I need to add 8 lbs of PH...
