    Taylor kit without calcium test

Hey folks, Is there a Taylor test kit similar to the 2006-c but doesn't include the calcium/hardness test? We have a vinyl pool and our CA measures off the chart right out of the tap. I don't need the chemicals so thought I might save some money if there was a kit that didn't include them. Thanks.

    Pool Math App

I'm not one for the latest apps on my phone, but I love the pool math app. I don't have to jot the test results down and go the PC and figure out what to do now. I can just plug it into the app and bingo, done deal. Thanks to all who had a hand in that little gem! Now if I could figure out how...

    Second return...

I was just reading a thread where a second return on an AGP was mentioned. I'm all for that! Where exactly would be the ideal place? Do you isolate the two for any reason? Is there a maximum depth? I would love to get better bottom circulation. Can I just add it a foot or so below the existing...

    Hey @leebo

Since we're probably close enough for my bees to visit your yard, I was wondering when you start up your pool in the spring. I usually wait until the first full week of May, but would like to get an earlier start this year.

    Anyone a motorcycle rider?

I love my Harley. Winter is such a depressing season for me. I once told my wife that winter hurts so bad because two of my favorite things are covered at the same time: my pool and my bike. Spring is just around the corner...FINALLY!!! I considered getting the bike out tomorrow and going for a...

Ugh. Winter cover is in the pool

Well, this isn't good. I haven't been able to monitor the pool for awhile and went out this morning to discover that the winter cover filled with water and pulled off the sides and is now in the pool. It hasn't sank completely, but is still iced in somewhat. With temps expected to hit near 60°F...

    Closed the new pool :(

I hate this time of year...you know, the time of year between when the pool is closed until it's open again. I pulled the pump, drained below the return, drained the solar heaters, treated and covered it up. It's so depressing.

    Post SLAM pH question

I just completed a SLAM and am letting the FC drift back to normal range. I generally keep the Ph at 7.4 due to my astronomical CH. This mornings test results: pH 8.0 TA 90 FC 10.5 CC 0.0 CYA 40 CH 1100 (I hate my city water) Pre SLAM pH was 7.4. Is this elevated level still a result of a...

Lack of brushing = SLAM time :(

I had to work 10 days straight. The pool was always covered when I got home (always pretty late), but I tested and treated every evening. I had no idea nobody was using the pool during that entire time! Well, I uncovered the pool to find patches of algae on the floor. Drat. So, I vacuumed it...

    Test kit and chlorine stotage.

Our pool is some distance from the house. I would really like to keep the test kit and chemicals near the pool. If I were to buy a large Rubbermaid type storage closet for the pool patio, could I keep everything there? Would anything degrade if not kept in a conditioned space?

    Stupid high calcium

I filled our new pool a little over a month ago. I am loving the TFP system! It is some easy pool maintenance. Since my pool is 24' AGP I wasn't worried about calcium. Just for giggles, I checked it the other day. It's 1100! Thinking I messed it up, I tested it again, same 1100. So, I tested the...

    New pool first fill

I just finished setting up our 24' AGP. Initial test results yesterday were: pH: <7 FC: 0 CC: 0 TA: 70 CYA: 0 Following pool math my numbers today are: pH: 7.0 (added more washing soda this afternoon, but have not re-tested) FC: 4.4 CC: 0 TA: 90 CYA: 33 I'm thinking I should boost the CYA a...

    New AGP self build

We tore down our old 18' AGP last year. We are finally putting up a new 24' AGP in a different location. Not much to see yet. There will be a patio on the south end with (4) 2 x 20 solar panels on the roof. I dug everything by hand (which was a lot easier when I was in my 30's than it is in my...

    Pump and solar question

Hi folks, On my phone at work so must be brief. I had an 18 round AGO for 15 years. Tore it down last year and am installing a new 24 round. Solar was on a rack on the ground before. I am building a patio beside the new pool with a South facing roof and am putting the solar (4 - 2 x 20') panels...
