Well some how it went up over night. FC was 22 at about 10pm last night and it had been about an hour and a half since last chemical addition. This morning at 6:30 it was 24. So I'm not sure what's going on here. I tested it twice this morning and got the same number both times.

3-5 overnight. But that was a few days ago. I can try again tonight.

Testing depends on if my wife is home during the day. If not once in the morning and then not till about 4pm. After that it's every 2 hours till I go to bed. The weekends are much more often. - - - Updated - - -

So how long should this slam actually take. The residue seems to be almost gone but I'm more then a week into this thing. Feel like it is taking way longer then it should.

Still wondering if I should drain more water out of my pool. Looking at the shock levels for mustard algae it shows that it may be impractical at a CYA level of 50-60. What are your thoughts?

Bleach I got says 8.25% sodium hypochlorite. But then under it says that it yeilds 7.86% available chlorine. Do I enter 8.25 or 7.86 into the calculator???

Yep. I do that on a regular basis. I backwash and then rinse and the repeate both steps again.

yes. Well sometimes it is. Sometimes it more of a gray color and sometimes it is brown. It is only visible when the pump is running.

I have and can't tell. I vacuum it out and it just returns. If filter is not running it is not there. If filter runs it shows back up again. I set filter to waste and get it all out and then a day or 2 later it's back.
