    HELP - need new pump.

Basically my old pump recently died. Been looking at the Hayward MaxFlo VS 1.65HP vs the Pentair SuperFlo VS Been a long time since my last post. Will try to find my signature with my equipment. But basically I have a ~16,000 gal salt water in ground pool. Any help/recommendations would be...

Hayward heat pump - right for me?

15500gal With prior one we’d keep it at a decent temp and then warm it up for weekends. Just a pool, no spa. Basically this is replacing what we had before (albeit likely a better brand and model). I think propane might be an option

Hayward heat pump - right for me?

Hayward W3HP21404T HeatPro 140,000 BTU Pool Heat Pump for In-Ground Pools Is this right for me? Do I need all those BTU? Or should I go with the 110K BTU? Live in warm climate. Likely to use it about 4-5 months per year.

Sorry. What’s the difference? I have the Aquacal… pretty sure it’s a heat pump. Turn it on 24hrs before use and it heats the pool to the desired temp.

Been a while since on this site. 15,500 gal salt water pool. The heater that we had when bought the house just went. Would love a few recommendations for good pool heaters. Just starting my research, so I’d really appreciate any advice on what to look for in a new heater, good features to...

    Heater issues! Please help

So... Update - the guy came out. The error code was FLO. Apparently there is a little tube that water doesn't flow through, but just provides pressure and it was clogged which he cleared out. Then the heater still wasn't working and it needed a new Relay. The tube is cleared, new relay is in...

    Heater issues! Please help

Thanks for the info, how long do these systems typically last? I don't have a video, but basically it turns on and quickly goes to the error message seen above in the photo. Hard to tell if it says "FLO", or "CFO" due to the screen panel issue.

First time replacing filter - does brand matter (much)?

I was told to replace the filters about every 1-2 years. I try to rinse them with a hose about every 3-4 months. How do you know when a replacement is needed?

First time replacing filter - does brand matter (much)?

I completely agree, but I know in life there are some things that you need good quality items and it's worth every penny and some places you can save a couple bucks with similar outcomes.

First time replacing filter - does brand matter (much)?

First time replacing my filter. The one in there is a Unicel C-8412. When I search online to purchase a new one, I see other cheaper brands. The unicel one goes for about $70. Is this normal/good price? Pleatco seems to be almost half.

    Safe to swim?

I know based on the CYA/FC chart I don't need to shock my pool. But is it safe to swim? Any other restrictions with a high FC? Here are my levels FC: 10.5 CC: 0.5 pH: 8.0 (2 drops brought it to 7.6 - added 25oz of 31% muriatic acid) TA: 90 CH: 325 (need to buy more - any recs for good...

    App vs website: different recs?!

So I'm relatively new but getting the hang of this. I'm trying to follow your recs for my chem levels and I realized that I get different recommendations on how much _____ to add to correct my chemical levels depending on if I'm using the Pool Math app vs the Pool Math website! Can anyone...

    Questions about using the TF-100

Glad I asked. I had been doing it poolside, going 18 inches with the comparator tube for each test

    Questions about using the TF-100

    1) how do you clean it? Simply rinse in the pool water? Tap water? Use a brush? 2) after a test, do you spill contents into pool and rinse the comparator between tests in pool water? Do you spill test contents elsewhere? (I usually do on the grass - is this bad?)

Drained pool - new results. Help

This is all thanks to you guys. This is hysterical, the thought literally crossed my mind about an hour ago to buy the app. With the new house and pool (aka money pits), we have been trying to be a bit more frugal. But given how much I'm saving not paying my pool guy... I'm sure I'll be a...

Drained pool - new results. Help

UPDATE! I rechecked the numbers, based on decreasing pH from 8.0 to 7.4, I added 23oz of 31% Muriatic Acid and you told me two 40lb bags to get to 2,500, so I purchased four 40lb bags. When I got home and checked the SWG they recommend 3000 and based on previous reading on TFP I added 200, so...

Drained pool - new results. Help

Can someone just review the amounts of each chemical to add. Don't want to mess it up. Also based on TFP I read the recommended chemicals. The Salt that is recommended is $35 vs $5 at Home Depot. Is that because it's not as pure there?

Drained pool - new results. Help

Pool appears crystal clear. How does this sound? 1) add 13 oz of 31% muriatic acid 2) Increase the run time of the SWG 3) how much salt needs to be added? I do nothing with the TA and CH? I assume lowering the pH will help with the TA. Thanks! (Any thoughts on the autocorrecting SWG? or the...

Drained pool - new results. Help

So all my levels were pretty good in the past except the CYA was 96-100. So I drained pool about 40-50% and refilled. Then there was a huge rainstorm for past few days. New results: FC: 3.5 CC: 0 pH: 8.0 (2 drops of R-0005 got it down to 7.6) TA: 100 CH: 300 CYA: 70 Salt: 1600 Also my SWG is...

    Help drain pool - newbie

Long story short: new house, first time pool owner, high CYA and need to drain pool. I have a ball valve that opens up to my out spout (not sure if that's the right term, and as per people on TFP it's a crappy valve). I had a lot of difficulty trying to open it and people here said to replace...
