    Calhypo and a cloudy pool.

Everything is top notch. The pool store had liquid chlorine, everything's clear, no CC, passed the OCLT. It just needed more time. Also added a skimmer sock, pretty impressive what that thing can catch. Kids have been in these last two days.

    Pentair CYA reagent.

    Awesome, thanks, ordered a bottle.

    Pentair CYA reagent.

Does anyone know if you can use this stuff with the Taylor kit? Pretty good price for Canada. https://www.amazon.ca/Pentair-R161596-Cyanuric-Reagent-8-Ounce/dp/B008HYOAFC/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=r-0013&qid=1621522655&sr=8-7

    CYA and Ph

My return is unfortunately stuck in its position. Kids splashing should work. Thanks, always appreciated.

    CYA and Ph

FC was below 10 when I checked, had to work 12 hours so it dropped quite a bit from 16, the sun and heat has been oddly potent for us at this time of year. Good to know on the Ph, can I still swim during the temporary drop to 6.8 ish?

    CYA and Ph

I'm just about done slamming my pool, hopefully I pass the OCLT tonight. My Ph is currently 7.3, Alkalinity 65, CYA 40. Anyways, I want to bring my CYA up to 60-70 once the slam is done. Adding approx. 650g of CYA will drop my PH 0.54. Is this a permanent drop or will the Ph slowly climb...

    Calhypo and a cloudy pool.

Perfect, at this point I think I just have to maintain, backwash and let the filter do its thing. How long can it take for sand filters to clear this stuff up?

    Calhypo and a cloudy pool.

I unfortunately didn't close my pool properly last fall and ended up with a beautiful dark green pool this spring. I managed to balance it with a Ph of 7.4, TA 65, CYA 40 and CH of 80. FC and CC were initially 0. I've been adding 73% Calhypo to bring up the FC to 16, the CC is now down to 0...

    Cal Hypo and testing Ph.

Is there anything else that is affected by high FC's when testing? Like your alkalinity and CYA, should you wait until the FC is below 10 for those too?

    Cal Hypo and testing Ph.

Alright, thanks. Just have to wait it out then!

    Cal Hypo and testing Ph.

I just opened the pool for the season. Father in law had given us some Cal Hypo shock left over from the pool they got rid of. I know, not the best idea to use it but just wanted to get rid of it. Prior to shocking, Ph=7.5 Alkalinity 65 CYA 70 FC 0 Calcium 80 I left the pool over night and...

    Taylor kits in Canada

In the end Ottawa Pool Works has all the reagents individually in 60mL bottles. So for 55$ I got what I needed and I'll be able to alternate them every year for about this price. Definitely the way to go if you're in Ottawa.

    Taylor kits in Canada

I think for this year I'll go for the k-1004 and cya combo, hope my cya is 0, shock and just stay on top of maintaining my FC and pH a little more frequently. Then hope for some normalcy with the pandemic next year. Mostly my fault for waiting so long hah. Ottawa pool works has all this...

    Taylor kits in Canada

Ya, I checked for the DPD-FAS kit on it's own and it's 85+tax, so almost 100$. The good thing with the winter here, the CYA is essentially 0 every spring when I open the pool. So shocking and opening the pool has never been an issue. It's usually a one time balance, shock, then maintain for...

    Taylor kits in Canada

Ya, I don't think border hopping is an option at this point. I can get the K-1004 for 45$ along with the R-0013 (60ml) for 15$. A K-2006 for 192$ tax in and a K-2006C for 145$ (but the reagents of this one expire September of this year).

Oof, 261$ shipped. I'll have to think that over. Thanks though.

    Taylor kits in Canada

Good to know. All I really need is the K-1515 then. Even that's a pain to find. May just have to make due with what I got and what I can get for this year and hope I can find something next year. I can get the k-1004 for 58$ shipped which I suppose is better than nothing for now.

    Taylor kits in Canada

Any other Canadians manage to buy any of the Taylor kits this year? I had ordered one from VMinnovations 2 years ago, but they're currently not shipping to Canada due to Covid. I've contacted Lowry and Associates a couple times and haven't heard anything back yet. Only things I'm finding are...

    Constant PH rise.

Finally got the kit, not expired and everything was pretty darn good considering I was using the pool store/strips/phenol/OTO. Only thing that seemed to be off from the store was the CC, I had none according to the K-2006 while the store always seems to find some. Honestly, I'd probably only...

    Constant PH rise.

The store I go to uses a Waterlink datamate 10 by Lamotte. These just not accurate? Or is it simply you can't trust the employees to be properly using it etc?

    Constant PH rise.

Just ordered one, so I'll keep an eye out for it! Thanks. I don't get why these pool stores give such inaccurate results. If they were honest, I'd be more apt at buying products from them and testing more often. Now, I buy a kit, get my products elsewhere and they lose my business entirely...

Hmmm, only seeing a two pack for 105$. Wonder if I contact them. Edit: Nevermind, found it a few pages over. I can deal with that price tag.

    Constant PH rise.

Ya, I've been looking at getting either or, but the prices to Canada or within Canada are insane. Cheapest I've found was 165$ (not free shipping) for the 2006 and 235$ (again, not including shipping) for the 2006C. TF100 is US only and unfortunately don't have my passport right now to even...

    Constant PH rise.

Hey folks, Only my second year of having the pool and I don't remember ever adding this much Ph Down, seems I'm adding some every 2-3 days to keep the PH below 7.8. We have a 5950 Gallon salt water pool (above ground vinyl) and I recently just discovered the recommended ranges on this site...

    Hayward Aquatrol chlorine generator

Alright, thanks. I'll definitely lower it then, ours is only a 15'x54'', so it's probably less than half of what yours is. Anyways, the whole thing is turned off for now and will remain that way for a couple days until the level of chlorine comes down. It never got overly high, but I was...

    Hayward Aquatrol chlorine generator

Hmm, the SWG is just plugged into the outlet, and the pump is on the other outlet. We currently don't have any timer setup. When I turn the pump off, it still says that it's generating chlorine (while on auto), and you can see it coming out of the return jet, it keeps puffing some misty white...

    Hayward Aquatrol chlorine generator

Thanks. Last reading we had from the store was 5.92ppm (free chlorine) and total 6.6ppm. The strips we have seem to be consistent with that (judging by the purple on the test strip). You can also smell it quite a bit. We were told to aim of 0.6ish to 1.

    Hayward Aquatrol chlorine generator

Just looking for some advice. We got a new salt water pool installed in the spring, did the whole balancing thing and started the chlorine generator. We set it to auto and adjusted between 40-50% as we were told by the store. Anyhow, since then, the free chlorine has been a touch on the high...
