    Algae under bubbler cover

Pool has never had issues, always tests fine with TF-100. The water is clear, has been clear. But this afternoon, I noticed that there was algae under the Pentair bubbler cover. My guess is, the design doesn't allow for good water circulation. I don't run the bubbler that often, it's...

    Polaris cleaner needs sun block

Not even a season. Guess Polaris should use some UV sunblock on the robot. The blue on the brush is the original color. The cleaner works fine but I am surprised by the amount of fading.

TFP water is the only way to go

So I was randomly googling around and read some posts on other forums where people are actually mad at TFP and this forum. I thought, how silly! Look at my pool water! Sometimes I am amazed at how good it looks. Anyways. Happy Independence Day, and happy birthday America!

I am having a hard time...

I probably have slight ocd. Maybe not clinical but you know I am sort of anal about certain things. The good news for me is testing the pool each day and cleaning it etc is good for it. I know what the pool condition is and I like it. I don’t find the daily testing or skimming a problem...

    She likes high pH

So the pool has been done for about six months now. Everything has been good. Tests are good. But I noticed two observations. 1) The pool seems to want to settle around 8 for pH. I know new plaster will drive pH up. But no matter how aggressively I drop the pH, within a few days it comes...

    My pool likes high pH

So for the past 4 months or so I have been TFP'ing it. Everything is good. Only thing that comes to mind is that my pool seems to want to settle on a relatively high pH or 7.8-8.0. TA is at 70. So, any concerns about staying at 8.0? thx. -S

    stuff on pool surface...

So, the surface of the water looks like it's got dandelion seeds all over it. I have skimmed the surface twice today, but I am losing the fight! I guess this is the join of spring time. I don't think my net is fine enough... What's the finest mesh net that's available out there? Any other...

    Is it time?

Is it time to raise the CYA? The pool was finished in December. Brought CYA up to ~30 over the winter and have been TFP’ing it. Now the water temp is generally around 70*, I am thinking it’s time to raise the CYA?

Coldest temp you will swim in?

Our pool was finished in Dec. But even in Houston, it was too cold to swim. We are now breaking out of our strangely cold winter. Pool temp is up 67*. I stepped in today, all the way up to the knee, and while it was cold, it was tempted to swim. So, what is the minimum temp you will jump...

pentair intellichlor and easytouch expected behavior

In the settings for my EasyTouch, I have the "Chlorinator present" set to no/off. Because I've done that, I don't have that menu option in app to adjust % etc. But when I go out and take a look at the IC60 itself, it appears the unit is operating: the % lights are flashing where I last set it...

    pH question... which is better?

I was curious, all else being equal, is it better to have water that is higher in pH or lower in pH as far as pool longevity goes? My pool is new (water in November) and it tends to like to settle in around 8 ish for the pH. I add acid to bring it back down each week. I probably should do it...

    When the color changes

Question: when testing the water and we are looking for color to change from x to y... are we talking about when it changes and stays changed, or just when it flashes? For example: the TA test says from green to red. If it's green to flash of red (but then goes back to green), I am getting TA...

    Polaris 9350

When our pool got built, the contract included a 9350. To be honest I have never researched pool robots. I frankly thought it was cool enough to have one. Ha. I know Polaris is not as popular here and I haven’t looked into the issues. But I did want to just give a quick review of it, in...

    Loose aggregate on new WetEdge

So the Polaris picked up some loose aggregate in the pool. It’s not a lot at all but just enough to see some in the muck. I assume through out normal brushing on a new finish some lose stone is bound to come off. The robot did not get dropped in the water until well after 30 days has passed...

Air temp sensor for Pentair EasyTouch 8 and shed

So I have a pool equipment shed built as part of our pool build out. The Pentair is in the shed. The air temp sensor is in the shed. Now the shed has pretty good airflow but when it’s really cold out, the air temp in the shed a few degrees warmer than outside. Not sure what’s gone happen in...

    Over flow drain pipe

So i have an overflow drain pipe that is coming out the side of the pool. The pool is a good 18”-24” above the rest of the yard. The pipe was never properly finished by the PB. I am curious what’s the best way to deal with it? Should I bring it down to grade and install a pop up on it...

    Pentair IntelliFlo VS vs VSF

So when i had the pool built, the contract specified a Pentair IntelliFlo VS pump. When the pump got installed, it was actually an IntelliFlo VSF pump. Currently in EasyTouch 8 it is set up as the VS. A couple of questions please. 1) does it hurt to leave it this way? 2) any advantages or...

    Left TF100 outside

So i left my test kit outside over night and didn’t see it until the afternoon. The temp probably go into the high 30’s and the high yesterday was probably in the low 70’s. The kit got a few hours of morning sun but was otherwise in the shade. Any issues with the test kit? Thanks.

Don't laugh: water features during freezes

Don't laugh because I am in Houston... those in real cold weather climates might be like "freeze, what do you know about freezes"... :) So, if you have water falls and other water features, if one is to run the pump over night to prevent freeze issues, I assume I should go ahead and run the...

    A General pool discussion forum?

Perhaps a suggestion. Most of the forums are specific. There doesn't seem to be a general pool discussion? So for example: I want to ask about freeze protection, if I have water features, should I turn them on while I run the pump at night. But I am not sure where it should go... should it...

New pool - seeking suggestions on where to go with chemistry

New plaster (Wet Edge finish) pool - water has been in about 4 weeks now. I am about to take over the care of the pool. I have been testing the pool about once a week with TF-100 kit. Latest results below: FC: 2.5 CC: 0 pH: 8.2 (was 7.5 a four days prior) - I added a little muriatic acid to...

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

In another thread I posted that I wanted a Cowboy Cauldron fire pit in the back yard. I commented that it was silly expensive with the largest one costing north of $2,000. One night I randomly was looking for other options and came across palletforks.com. They make and sell two sizes a...

    Connecting Pentair IC60 to EasyTouch8

In the EasyTouch without with SWCG Option there is a single com port (J20). Right now my screen logic wireless kit is plugged in to it. The instruction seems to suggest I can plug multiple things into this com port. Can anyone confirm please? Thanks.

Furniture to go with the pool... what a pain

Here I thought, picking the color of the Wet Edge was a process... trying to find backyard furniture is even more annoying. First, why is everything SO expensive. It's crazy to think that real teak anything is a thousand here, a few there. Then... you have to find the right colors and style...

    In ground enclosure

I have asked the pool builder to stub out plumbing and electrical before they poured the deck because I want to add an outdoor kitchen in the future. The question is: how do I cover up the stub outs? I was thinking about using an NDS valve box and just pour the concrete decking around the box...

    It's going down for real....

Been lurking on TFP for a few weeks... bought my test kit Saturday. The start of the process was really annoying, but it was no fault of the pool builder. It was mostly logistics stuff on my side. We started this discussion in the early parts of June. We finally got the go ahead from the HOA...
