New to Forums - Just signed to build a pool in The Woodlands, TX

You should check your contract to see if the builder or you would be responsible for running a line for drainage (gutters/decking/overflow). My builder made it clear that they would run the line 10 feet’ from the pool. If I wanted it run further, that’s on my dime. Glad you are making progress!

New to Forums - Just signed to build a pool in The Woodlands, TX

Gotcha - I'm a beginner myself in the 1 1/2 years we've had our pool, so there are far more superior members of this forum that will set you straight. However, my thoughts....does that water drain towards your equipment area? Seems like that might be the issue. You will want to run that to...

New to Forums - Just signed to build a pool in The Woodlands, TX

Is that pipe not the overflow that leads to nowhere, and does the water somehow lead to your equipment area? If that pipe is the overflow, then you need to either create a rock bed underground or run the pipe to your street (probably preferable).

Houston we have a (pollen) problem

This is our second spring with our pool. This year seems to be much worse than last for the pollen. Thankfully with the storm on the way over the next day or so, most of our pollen issues should be gone afterwards...hopefully!!!

Pentair Racer - Line Float question....

My racer over the last couple of weeks started to fall over to a side and go round and round, getting tangled on the hose. After looking everything over, tightening and such, it occurred to me that the line isn’t floating as much and maybe the weight of the hose is the issue. This afternoon...

More post-Harvey test results. I think it replaced 50% of my pool!

We also took it on the chin with Harvey. Goodness. In total, we received just over 40" of rain throughout Harvey's visit. I got nervous when we lost power Sunday. We finally were restored power this afternoon so it was time to get to work. FC 6 CC 0 Ph 7.2 CH 125 (yikes) TA 30 (yikes) Cya 20...

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain

Lost power for a couple of hours. Pool water wasn't contained any longer, but now started to drain again. Rainfall now at 27.56 since Friday night. I brought up my FC to slam level and was at 10.5 earlier this morning, so I'm good there. I'll check again tomorrow.

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain

I tested the water moments ago. Everything looks good except my ch. I'm now way low. Went from 275 a couple of days ago to 175 this morning. My csi is at -.72 so that's concerning but once my ph rises it should be within the -.60 to +.60 range I think. I have a 5 lbs bag of ch increaser but...

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain

Now at 19.76 inches. Pool water barely under coping. I don't know that I can't run off faster than the rain. I might run a second hose off of a water feature pump. This is crazy, but there are so many people that have lost everything. So sad.

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain

My water level is back to just under the coping as well. I'm in Spring, too (off of Riley Fuzzel and Rayford). I went ahead and started up the pump to start draining again, along with the overflow during this "quiet period" of the rain. I show that we've received 9.89 inches of rain for the...

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain I'm at 6 1/2 inches of rain since midnight, most of which took place from around 6 am to 10. I've got the hose hooked to the main pump and along with the overflow drain, the pool water has stayed just below the coping. I'm going to...

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain

Hi, Mknauss! Yes, I have three hose spigots after each of the three pumps that I have. I assume I will use the spigot from the main pump (the other two are water features). That seems easy enough! I'm concerned about high water and tall trees this go round, but not necessarily because of...

Texas Coast & Inland - Balancing pool w Lot's of Rain

I live in Spring, Texas and have the same concerns. I have an auto overflow, but I'm not entirely certain how to drain the pool otherwise. I just can't remember! I'm still a relatively new pool owner, so I'll have to do some research. Thanks for the tips!

    2017 Bleach Prices

According to the Pinch A Penny website, I have a Pinch A Penny "relatively" close to my house, an approximate 10 miles away. I live in Spring. This location will be at the corner of Kuykendahl and Louetta. I don't know if its open yet...will have to call.

    pH constantly rising

I have the same issue, DIY, and have just gotten used to adding acid once a week to knock the ph back down to 7.2ish. Within about a weeks time, I'm back up to 7.8, however, I have a spillover spa that does its thing when the pump is on. My TA is 80 by the way. Good luck!

Katy Area BBBers - Looking for 12.5% Bleach?

I called Napco a week ago inquiring of their product. They apparently sell car-boys or what not there, but I'd imagine you can purchase your own for a bit cheaper. (any recommendations on a car boy?) I live in Spring, so this location would be close. Unfortunately their hours aren't...

    RedStick's Pool Chemical Starting Thread!

Ha! Howdy Partner (needsajet). Thank you both, again. I just added a dose of bleach (34oz) as I lost 1ppm of FC from yesterday. An hour later I added 18oz of muriatic acid to get my ph down a bit. I'm also trying to figure out the scheduled speed and duration of my variable speed pump as I...

    RedStick's Pool Chemical Starting Thread!

I'll leave the door open to the garage to get a Texas summer breeze blowing in there. That should help ;). Thanks! I think I might set out to buy enough during the summer months to go 3 weeks and then supplement with some local bleach for a week. That way I'm only visiting Napco on a...

    RedStick's Pool Chemical Starting Thread!

Thanks, needsajet and kimkats. I purchased a couple of bottles of the Walmart Great Value 8.25% bleach for $2.94 per bottle this afternoon. I'll figure out how much I'll need per week and plan accordingly as we have a Walmart fairly close by to grab some on a weekly/every other week basis if...

    RedStick's Pool Chemical Starting Thread!

I finally decided today to make the change to the manual bleach chlorination method. I've been a testing fool trying to learn all about our pool and feel I've got it down now. As such, here are my current readings: Pool Temp: 66 Air Temp: 64, not a cloud in the sky now but we had 1.81 inches...
