    EasyTouch, ScreenLogic & Intellichlor

Hi Sorry for the slow follow up. My oldest just graduated high school so that's kept me pretty busy. Nevertheless, I wanted to close the loop on this thread. Jim - my apologies for not being clear. Sometimes the words in my head, don't make it to the keyboard. Not sure how that happens...

    EasyTouch, ScreenLogic & Intellichlor

Well I passed the wiring test you indicated. I was determining that cell was operating by observing bubbles in the pool return, however, I know I've read that bubbles can occur at low speeds so perhaps that is what I was seeing? Is there a way to tell if the cell is operating vs. just active...

    EasyTouch, ScreenLogic & Intellichlor

Allen/Jim - Thanks for the info. The info on running at lower percentage makes sense. For some reason my brain want's to think OFF = preserving cell life. But I get it thanks. My other intention there was to turn the cell off in the winter when the water is too cold. So I guess the follow would...

    EasyTouch, ScreenLogic & Intellichlor

Hello - My basic question is, can I control my Intellichlor separately with EasyTouch? Pool build was finished in January and I've been running on the program/schedules they setup basically since then. Essentially they set two schedules - the main schedule they provided was to run on "Pool"...

Correct type of plastic for "dosing jars"

TBH - pre measuring just seemed more coinvent to me. It would be a task I would own and would not have the kids do. My thinking is the smaller containers would be easier and safer for them to handle and eliminate the element of assessing volume. I would assume the risk of the additional...

Correct type of plastic for "dosing jars"

Hello - I put this here as it seems most related to chemicals, but if mods need to move it, no worries. I'd like to start getting my 14 year olds involved (trained) in pool care. They are both pretty capable so sweeping, testing, etc. isn't much concern. However I'm not quite ready to have...

New Quartz Finish - Quartz not really showing up

Thanks. That does look a lot like my finish. I'm only a few days in so I guess I need to be patient. How's it looking 6 years later?? Also - they gave me a nylon brush, but I read on a plasterer's site to use wire/stainless steel? Any thoughts?

New Quartz Finish - Quartz not really showing up

Hello everyone, (if this belongs somewhere else, feel free to move, or let me know to move) I haven't been very active here in a while as my last pool was not in good repair and I was just treading water with it, (pun intended). Well at the end of last summer we pulled the trigger on a full demo...

Ready to buy a robotic cleaner - What does everyone have and like?

Additional 2 cents - I have the cyclone filter and I'm not sure I'd do it again. It does catch noticeable dirt but I'm not convinced it was worth the additional resistance added to my flow for the filter itself and the additional bends - plus the plumbing clutter to add it to my equipment pad...

    My new automation system.

Thank you. That's really helpful. Now that I look at them they totally match. These are what I was looking at but for some reason they didn't look like the ones in your pictures. Perhaps from scrolling through HUNDREDS of relays on the Automation Direct site, everything blurred together. I'm...

    My new automation system.

Hi Cliff, @cmc0619 I may have missed it in your posts, but would you mind linking what 120 and 240 relays you are using. I've looked all over Automation direct and have found a very large variety of relays but haven't found the ones that seem to look the same visually. Just trying to make sure...

Where do you drain your pool TO?

In my city, you drain to the sewer. You have to call the city and let them know. No cost, no permit, they just want to know so they don't have too many people on the same sewer line draining at the same time. In my city, and most of So Cal (as far as I know), you can't drain to the...

    Disposing of test liquids

This feels like a newb question, but I don't recall seeing it anywhere. Where does everyone recommend we dump the waste from our testing? Down the drain? Is it OK in the sewer? What if you are on septic? In the grass? Somewhere else?

Will filter intake size be too restrictive?

Thanks Jason. Glad to know that. I'm in IT so bottleneck/chokepoint is what comes to mind first.

Will filter intake size be too restrictive?

Hi. I've posted a couple of things recently about my pad relocation and equipment refresh. Thank you all for you continued help. I hope others can learn from my challenges. As I was finishing up the connections for my equipment I realized my new filter, that advertised 1.5" and 2" connections...

Pool pad plumbing arrangement & thoughts on flexible PVC

I find it a bit interesting too. If I was coming off a pipe segment and needed to go up and about 4 or 5 inches left over about 2.5 feet of pipe, it seems like it woudl be less restrictive to do that with one gradually curving piece of flex then a 45 and two elbows. It seems as though the...

Pool pad plumbing arrangement & thoughts on flexible PVC

So these questions started in this thread, trying to figure out the right spot to put my SWG. I've settled on putting in the return branch that goes to the pool returns. I'll post pic of my pad later to help visualize. My questions now remain: 1. As noted in the linked thread, I decided to put...

    SWG Ahead of heater

Thank you all for the continued input. I'll get some pics of the pad in it's current state, which is a work on progress. I'm at a pause right now as I glued on one of my cell unions without putting the threaded collar on the pipe first  so I'm waiting on the replacement to arrive. I think...

    SWG Ahead of heater

Thanks for the input. That location is a challenge as well as there's not a lot of pipe there. I'd have to build a loop. I need to look at it again when I get home and see what springs to mind. I'm thinking the potential to have it isolated and explode is a no go.

    SWG Ahead of heater

OK. Now as I keep thinking about it I think I may have another problem. If I put the SWG in the bypass section, it will be fully isolated in a closed setctio of pipe when in "heater mode". While it should not be running and the flow switch will be in the same section as a fail safe to ensure...

    SWG Ahead of heater

Thanks for the reply. Those are additional things to thing about for sure. Just bought the house and currently spending a lot of money on remodel and and granny flat for mom. Sale is a ways off but your point is well taken. I'm not intending to seem like I'm disregarding advice or pushing to do...

    SWG Ahead of heater

That one did cross my mind. I do test regular so I *should* notice if the cell weren't running for a few days. I'm just tying to save some room on the pad for access and save some room in the pipes incase I need to modify or repair in the future. (i.e. cut into. Most of my fittings are pretty...

    SWG Ahead of heater

I think I know the answer to the question, but I'll ask anyway. Is it an issue to install a SWG ahead of the heater? I'm installing all new equipment (expect for heater) and the optimal place, from a routing perspective would be to install the SWG cell after the filter and before the heater. I...

Do I really need 2-1/2" spa return??

Thanks for the input. I'll most likely keep it 2.5. I just thinking in terms of bottlenecks/choke points, since it was only 2" going back. I know adding the length was going to have an impact so may as well minimize as much as I can. Thanks again.

Do I really need 2-1/2" spa return??

About 60 feet of the suction would be down sized to 2". The new pad will be about 2' higher elevation than the current. Which is about level with the water surface of the spa. So this is the collar and the 'eyeball' of the jets I have. The pipes behind the socket is 3/4" for each jet.

Do I really need 2-1/2" spa return??

I will be using the Circupool 180 SqFt cartridge filter and I have a 399BTU Jandy XL (XT?) natural gas heater. When the spa is on, yes it goes through the filter and heater. I have consider adding valves and and a bypass for when we are running the spa. Not sure on the jet nozzle sizes. Some...

Do I really need 2-1/2" spa return??

Thank you both for the reply. Clarification and couple of follow ups. First, I realize I said return twice. The SUCTION line for the spa is 2.5. The return for the spa is 2. It's a 6 jet spa. When we use the spa, the valves are switch to all spa, so it is essentially a dedicated pump at that...
