Thanks for all of the great support. Newdude - Wouldn't I have to raise the FC level to at least 3 ppm before doing the OCLT? I can't do an OCLT with 0 FC....!!!! And if my CYA of <30 is correct, shouldn't I add stabilizer to bring it at least to 30???

Water temp is about 54 F on my thermometer which is only about a foot down on the deep end ladder.

Thanks for your reply. So if I let the chlorine drop to 2 or 3 - it's 8 ppm now, I can check adjust the pH and CYA. I think the pool may have 65 000 or so litres in it now. Why can't I SLAM it to get rid of algae? The water is circulating from main drain to returns. And it's MUCH better since...

Just checked my pool after 3 days away and FC is 3.4 Target is 8 due to 55 CYA. Algae present in corners and some on pool floor. Just added bleach to reach target - 4 litres. Brushed sides and Dolphin cleaner is in. Is SLAM necessary?

My pool is fine now, so I'll just leave well enough alone for now! Thanks for the Quebec source!

After 8 days my pool water is clear. CC is 0.5 and no overnight Chlorine loss. Upon starting SLAM is lowered the pH too much to 6.5 ppm. At what FC level do I add the soda ash ( mixed in a bucket and added to the skimmer) to raise pH and baking soda to raise TA?

We changed the sand in 2018. Backwashed yesterday. Brushing walls 3 times a day. We are using our Dolphin electric cleaner and the bag has had no signs of green algae for 2 days. I have kept the pool at FC levels at SLAM 20 -24 ppm FAC for 3 days now. No overnight loss FAC is 24 this morning...
