I wish I never took a sample in to the pool store...

I purchased my CYA from Walmart in the pool isle under the Clorox name. Ingredients are listed as 100% CYA, $12-$13.

I wish I never took a sample in to the pool store...

Glad you are finding this site to be helpful...Loads of knowledge here! I too am from the Twin Cities, opened a few weeks ago while the water temp was still low enough to prevent any issues. Don't hesitate to shout out of you need anything. This is my third season with TFP and I wouldn't do it...

    Pool startup question

I use a pair of neoprene chest waders that have felt on the bottom of the boots so I can get in regardless of the temp or the lack of desire to get wet if needed....Just saying...

    Help! Cloudy water!

Welcome...sounds like your pool is about the same size as mine. It also sounds like you've got something going on that a SLAM might help you fix. Try not to add any more pool store chemicals...They just seem to help you throw your money down the drain...literally. Your chlorine and pH levels...

Another newbee. New 10000 gal Pool

Hello and welcome, glad you found us! Sounds like the pool was a good investment and your kids are going to enjoy it for quite a while. I should know, I have three of my own that beg to go swimming every morning at breakfast! I won't touch on all of the products that you bought as I don't have...

    An alternative to pool opening

I have a steel walled 24' x 48" deep ABG pool (13,500 gal) and drain mine halfway during the Minnesota winters so that the sidewalls don't collapse in when the snow flies. Minimal effort in the spring to get everything refilled and balanced properly.

Haha... I usually save that speech as my party trick, complete with photos of course. Sent from my mobile device.

What did you do to your pool today?

Thanks Pat!!! I have to agree with you, very simple once you learn and apply it. Like many on here, I acquired this pool two summers ago when I moved in, followed by that, "what did I get myself into?!" moment. This is my third season with TFP and I am not going anywhere. I especially enjoy...

Just simply admired the crystal clear water... ...and I may have turned the pump on for the day. ...and then I may have went back to admiring it some more... Sent from my mobile device.

What did you do to your pool today?

Opened the pool.... I don't use a cover on it through the winter months so it catches a little debris. The water is always clear, but the sediment on the bottom gets kicked up when I jump in and scoop out the large stuff and it turns that swampy green. My coworkers and friends are always...

    TFP has ruined me!!!

We are currently in Myrtle Beach. We were in the Charleston area for a family wedding and had a few beach trips then also. But we've always wanted to take the kiddos to Midieval Times so we are talking some time for ourselves and broke away early for a few days before heading home.

    TFP has ruined me!!!

My OCD is definitely unforgiving, but under the right circumstances I may have hopped in...I just can't bring myself to do it when the ocean is one block away.

    TFP has ruined me!!!

I know we see these on here from time to time, but this is my first venture away from my pool since I started using the TFP method... Now granted, I can see the bottom as this is a shot from our 5th floor balcony, the hotel's pool just has a haze and dirtiness to it that I just can't subject my...

    I hate cotton!!!!!!

No problem. These are the hair nets that I use as recommended by a few others on here...work like a charm! I actually use them every time I run my pump to save the wear and tear on my filter. Disposable Hair Net, Spun-Bonded Polypropylene, White, 100 per Bag: Science Lab Hairnets: Amazon.com...

    I hate cotton!!!!!!

I agree with you, I hate cotton!!! There's a big tree in a neighbor's yard a few houses down who's constantly dumping into my pool and it always looks like it's got a film on top of my water. However, instead of worrying about it getting in my skimmer basket I decided to actually push it in...

    Liner lasted only 5 years

Here is a classic example of the powdered dichlor shock being thrown in weekly, I'm assuming it was never brushed. The blue bucket in the lower left hand corner is the shock that the people who owned the house before me used, I just haven't thrown it away yet because I've been lazy, but I don't...
