    CYA loss from water evap?

CYA is not lost due to evaporation. CYA does degrade slowly in pool water and can degrade a bit quicker in warmer water. That and the test is +/-10 ppm to begin with. So a drop from 40 to 30 is not surprising. Liquid stabilizer is quicker to raise the CYA. I should have written CYA test dot...

Suspect a leak as well, can't find evidence - waiting for the gusher, I guess. Trying to keep things clean until then.

    CYA loss from water evap?

3 weeks 90+ temps, no rain, I have been adding water approx 2 inches per day. CYA had been 40, was adding gallon of bleach per day, testing 6-7ppm. FC numbers started dropping and rechecked CYA and found less than 30. Have my daily water additions caused CYA loss? Also read somewhere CYA loss...

    Cloudy Water

I wouldn't wait for overnite results. I'd start a SLAM. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Did you do a Combined Chlorine test?

    CYA sock hack?

You want it to dissolve really quickly, place in knee high nylon and tie in front of return. 10-15 min max. I do this with borax, baking soda as well as stabilizer.

Lower pH with solar cover on?

Overshot Borax trying to bring up pH from 7.0, ended up at 7.8. Need to add muratic acid to lower slightly. Solar cover cause any problems? Time of day matter? Thanks.

    Muriatic acid scares me

Also do not combine in any manner with bleach. Even suggest you store away from each other. I forgot to rinse glass measure cup used for bleach and almost used to dose with MA. Fortunately, I sniffed the cup and rinsed thoroughly.
