    Losing Jet Pressure

I can give it a try. Although I just put a brand new filter in 5 days ago. Is it harmful to run the tub without the filter?

    Losing Jet Pressure

No. Do you mean pull out the filter and turn on the jets?

    Losing Jet Pressure

I have noticed over the last year that the jets of my hot tub seem to be lacking the pressure they once did. I'm still getting water flow through all the jets, is just seems weak and there's not as much water-churning as there used to be. The hot tub came with the house when I bought it 2 yrs...

    Concrete pool deck shifted

Hello all; My concrete deck has started settling/shifting away from my vinyl coping, creating a small gap. I've had a pool installation company out to look at it and he said the concrete slab will need to be replaced, as jacking it up will only temporarily fix it, and the slab will likely...

    Backwashing sand filter always necessary?

I'm only backwashing for less than a minute, but there's still a large volume of water that comes out & I don't want to saturate my lawn (already had an incident where I washed away topsoil and new grass seed....but that's another story). After reading the ins & outs tutorial on sand filters I...

    Backwashing sand filter always necessary?

I just had new sod put in my yard and I don't want to keep saturating it with the high volume of water that comes out when I backwash my filter. Plus I'd rather not keep adding water to my pool each time. I was wondering if it's necessary to backwash every time I vacuum the pool? The sight glass...

Closing hot tub for the summer

Hello, I tried a search but nothing came up but there may be a thread already posted. I didn't use my hot tub at all last summer, so I decided rather than waste hydro to keep it warm, I will close it for this summer. I used a jet cleaner then drained the tub and cleaned it. Is there anything...

Inground winterized pool water level high

Yes I have a small pump that I can attach a garden hose to. Should be able to fit it in the skimmer opening so I don't have to take the cover off. It won't be a fast drain though, but the water is still 2.5" below the top of the pool. Any ideas of how low I should drain it?

Inground winterized pool water level high

It might not rain enough to overflow the pool, but I was just wondering worst case scenario if it does. I also read somewhere that you want to keep a liner pool full to keep the liner from "floating"? Not really sure what that means

Inground winterized pool water level high

Hello community! I have had my 16x32 inground pool closed for the winter by a professional company. I have a safety cover (I think people call it an "elephant cover"?). It's permeable so it allows water to seep through it. The water was drained below the jets when it was closed, but over the...

Sand deposits on lawn from backwash

The previous owners of the house left a note with pool instructions and it said the sand is new so it shouldn't have to be replaced for a while. I assumed they replaced it because it was due to be replaced

Sand deposits on lawn from backwash

So if I continue normal operation will it eventually drain the sand out?

Sand deposits on lawn from backwash

The previous owner said 15psi is normal. I don't know if they had sand coming out of the drain or not. It's a Jacuzzi laser 225-6/D filter, flow rate 20 gpm/sq ft, filter rate 53 gpm. The pump is a Jacuzzi Magnum 1hp. If it is excess sand in the filter do I need to do anything or will it stop...

Sand deposits on lawn from backwash

This may be a stupid question, but I'm a new owner of a house with a pool. I've been regularly backwashing my sand filter after vacuuming (as per the previous owner's instructions). I've noticed that where the water comes out onto the lawn are small mounds of sand deposits. The sight glass is...

Cloudy pool & water level question

I have to have the water level 2/3 up the skimmer to have a bit of water covering the top step. When I took a sample in the pool store tested it as 2ppm TC, pH 7.4, TA 100ppm, Calcium hardness 200ppm, and CA 60ppm. They had me add a bag of alkalinity. I ran the pump overnight and still a bit...

what is the best product to clean walk-in steps?

I'm not sure what you mean by dry acid. I used a jug of stuff that says pH minus, and supposed to be used to lower the pH. There's no ingredient list, so I'm not sure what it is

what is the best product to clean walk-in steps?

Do you think the high pH levels could be what's causing the cloudiness? Never had a problem all summer until the day after I used the magic eraser to clean the steps. I'm assuming that had something to do with it

what is the best product to clean walk-in steps?

I used both test strips and a water tester where you add drips to tubes to check for pH & FC. Both were high, but I have a hard time judging the color compared to the color scale on the side. I took in a sample to the pool store, they had me add alkalinity. I can see the pool bottom but it's...

what is the best product to clean walk-in steps?

I used a magic eraser to clean my steps...it worked pretty good, but required a lot of scrubbing to get the yellow out. However the next day my pool looked ever so slightly cloudy. The test strips haven't changed in weeks, but after using the eraser my alkalinity dropped off as did my...

Cloudy pool & water level question

Hello, I read that the proper pool level is around 1/3 to 1/2 way up the skimmer opening. However when I have the pool at this level the top step doesn't get covered in water. My top step had a yellowish tint to it, and I read on another post that a Magic Eraser would clean it off. I used it...

    Debris on the Bottom

I have considerable tree cover too...along with a Hickory tree that squirrels love to drop the half eaten nuts in my pool. About every 2 days I have to vacuum debris from the bottom of the pool and from the seams in the liner. It only takes a 1/2hr so I can live with it

    Skimmer/Plumbing Question

I have the exact same set up in my pool. I have been leaving both ports uncovered thinking I was circulating water through both the skimmer (to clean stuff from the top of the pool), and the drain (to clean stuff from the bottom). However I don't feel any suction from the drain port, so I don't...

    Going on vacation

I use liquid chlorine from a local pool store. They told me to make sure the chlorine level is above 5ppm because the pool is not circulating. I've just been adding chlorine and trying my best to mix it around with the leaf scooper-thingy. I have the strips and a water tester. Both say the...

    Going on vacation

Hello, I'm new to the forums and also a new pool owner. Little background: I just bought a house with a 16x32 inground pool in the winter, it was closed by the previous owners. I know nothing about pools. We had it professionally opened, and the water was pretty black. After a couple of weeks...
