Tricks for draining the last 5-6 inches of water...

I have this pump that attaches to my shop vac for this purpose. I never thought of submersing my utility pump into the shop vac, though. That would be just as easy, I suppose! https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Quick-Connect-Pump-Accessory-for-RIDGID-Wet-Dry-Vacs-VP2000/100496507

    How much CYA to add?

The 300 gal was added because I had under filled to pool so that my nieces could touch bottom, so CYA has definitely been diluted a little bit. I did go ahead and add 10 PPM CYA. I figure it can’t hurt to border on 40 anyway. Thanks for the responses.

    How much CYA to add?

I’ve looked in pool math and the forum but can’t figure out what I should do. I just added about 300 gallons of water to my pool. My CYA was at 30 before I added the water, now it is obviously less but my test kit only goes as low as 30. How much CYA should I add to get it back up? I am nervous...

    Intex eyeball adapter

I upgraded my pump, and the new eyeball for the return is too big to fit through the original hole in my pool. Does anyone know if Intex makes an adapter for this? I figure they must, but I would rather ask here than deal with one of their customer service reps or sift through a gazilion bits...

    HELP quick please!

Well, nothing worked while it was gushing. The opening was so big that everything I tried just kept getting sucked out through it due to the high water pressure. My entire pool drained into my backyard. Thankfully my FC was close to zero because I had been out of town for a few days. So I...

    HELP quick please!

It’s a good 5”. I’ve tried everything, including getting in and nothing is working. OMG, this sucks.

    HELP quick please!

Will that work to apply to the outside of the liner while it’s gushing?

    HELP quick please!

I was just going to pump out some water from my AGP to lower my CYA, and my sump pump put a hole in the seam at the bottom of my liner! I'm running to the hardware store, is there anything I can get there to stop the leak before I have 5k gal of water in my backyard! Gah!!!

    Skimmer issues

No, if anything, it is high. And it doesn’t take in air when I don’t have the opposer inlet throttled.

    Skimmer issues

I have an over the side skimmer on my pool. I have always used the little grey cap on the second inlet so that more water is forced through the inlet where the skimmer is attached. Well, last week, I added plunger valves to my lines, and now I get air in my suction line whenever I try to use the...

Just finished SLAM and leaving town

Thanks for the quick reply! I am so paranoid that I will lose all my progress, after SLAM-ing for two weeks! This is only my second summer with this pool, and my first summer using the TFP method, so still learning a lot.

Just finished SLAM and leaving town

I literally just finished my SLAM this morning, and we are leaving town for a few days this evening. My CYA is currently at 30. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to throw a puck of dichlor in my skimmer to keep the FC up and also increase my CYA a bit, since I planned on doing that anyway...

Newbie about to start first SLAM

Great, thanks! Aside from the bit of debris on the bottom of the pool, things are looking really good. I would take a pic, but it’s raining. Passed the OCLT this morning (did not lose a single PPM of FC, and CC was .5), so once this new pump arrives, I’ll be able to vacuum and I think we will...

Newbie about to start first SLAM

My water is looking really good! There is some debris settled on the bottom, but I’m pretty sure it’s sand/leaves. My pump is fubar, so I don’t want to get the vacuum out before the replacement arrives tomorrow. Speaking of the new pump, I’m wondering if it would set me back a ton on my SLAM...

    Can this be fixed?

Yeah...I ordered a whole new pump. Of course the one thing that can’t be repaired is the one thing that breaks. Just my luck. I have no clue how this even happened! Thankfully it’s limping along well enough so far to clear out a ton of algae.

    Can this be fixed?

Thanks for the replies. Good idea to check the manual. I just looked and didn’t see this part listed anywhere, what a bummer! I sent a message to intex, just to double check. I wonder if some kind of putty could stop it up...

    Can this be fixed?

Anyone? I got a better pic, if this helps. I’m right in the middle of a SLAM, so I don’t want to unhook more than necessary to play with it.

    Can this be fixed?

I just opened my pool last week. It’s been really rainy lately, and my yard tends to run really wet at baseline. So I didn’t think anything of it when the side of the pool near the pump has become a muddy mess. Well, this morning I happened to notice a little trickle coming from underneath my...

Thank you, this is super helpful! One follow up question: Before you responded, I was poking around Pool School and found this, where it states that the number closest to the water line is the CYA value to use. Is it just for SLAM purposes that you recommend to round up...

Newbie about to start first SLAM

I’m back with more questions. 1. When I went back out to add bleach after testing this afternoon, I came back inside to find that my FC test had turned pink again. Normally I dump it out right away, so this is the first time I’ve seen this. Normal, or no? Am I reading the results too quickly...

Hmm...even though it is clearer, I just compared yesterday’s and today’s pictures side by side and we are definitely greener today...is this normal? Also, the sun is coming out this morning for the first time during this SLAM.

Newbie about to start first SLAM

Good morning! My FC held steady at 12 overnight, and before I brushed this morning, I could just make out the squares on the bottom of the pool. I didn’t remember to check CC before I dumped my sample, and I’m running low on reagent, so I guess I’ll wait on that. But I’m seeing definite...

The game plan is to run outside between cloudbursts. Of course that one just backfired on me and I got drenched! Ah well. A little rain never killed anyone.

Cloudy. Rainy, actually. Will that affect things at all? I’m so pleased with the progress so far. Wish I would have come here first!

Newbie about to start first SLAM

Good morning! Last night at 11:00 before I went to bed, FC was 11 and CC was .5. I added about a cup of bleach, and woke up to FC of 11.5 and CC of .5! Water is looking SO much better!!! I brushed a little bit just now when I went out to take my sample. Gonna rinse my filter in a bit. How often...

Newbie about to start first SLAM

7:00 was 11.5, so I added a little more than 3 oz. 8:00 was 12.5, what the heck? Wondering if maybe my filter needs a rinse. I stirred things up just now and will rinse the filter when I go out to take a sample at 9:00. My 6-year-old even commented that it looks better already. He came out to...

Newbie about to start first SLAM

As of 6:00, FC was down to 5.5, so I added bleach to get me up to 12. It’s nice and cloudy, so that’s a plus. We are officially SLAM-ing!!! :kim:
