No end to my pool woes - now filter (Hayward Swimclear) problem!!

Since it was clean break, I tried J-B Weld to re-attach the broken piece to the manifold. After 24 hours of curing, it is good as new. Perfect join, no leaks. So making do with it for now.

No end to my pool woes - now filter (Hayward Swimclear) problem!!

My motor died, so bought a new motor. When I opened up the pump, found that the mounting plate is cracked, so had to buy a new mouting plate. While waiting for the mounting plate to arrive, I thought I'd clean out the filter cartridges. I have a Hayward Swimclear C4025. Opened it up this...

Hayward Super-II Pump Impeller Size for 3HP VS Motor?

Yes, that was one reason I decided to get the 3HP VS motor (over the 1.65 hp). Better flow at lower speeds along with lower noise and, hopefully, lower power consumption. Got the SPX3025CKIT Impeller Upgrade Kit that includes SP3026C IMPELLER, SP3021 DIFFUSER and SP3021R IMPELLER RING. The kit...

Hayward Super-II Pump Impeller Size for 3HP VS Motor?

Thanks for confirming. That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Ordering it now, will arrive on Wednesday. So that's 2 more days for the pool to stagnate and turn a darker shade of green. I gave up on trying to mix it manually. Will just SLAM it after I get the pump running.

Hayward Super-II Pump Impeller Size for 3HP VS Motor?

Update: Got the mounting plate off, the penetrating oil worked. The plate is in bad shape on the side facing the motor, lots of calcification and surface cracks all around (pics attached), So I have to get a new plate now, guess I won't be installing the motor today.

Hayward Super-II Pump Impeller Size for 3HP VS Motor?

I have a Hayward Super-II pump (Model SP-3015X20) with a 2HP motor that died a few days back. So I purchased a 3HP (3.5 SFHP) VS Motor to replace it on the same pump. Opened the pump today and was wondering if I should I up-size the impeller. Here is what the pump has now: Seal Plate: SP3020-E...

May need a new pump—pump has been loud, seized up today

I am new used-pool owner too and had my pump die on me last week. Here's my form post about it. Based on the advice & inputs I decided to replace it with a new variable speed motor as I was convinced that it'd save me money on the long term and give other benefits like low noise, lower flow...

    Variable Speed Pump Recommendation Please

The favorite pump on this forum is the Pentair Intelliflo VS. Looks like it costs about AU$1500 - Pentair Intelliflo VS Variable Speed Pool Pump I am a new pool owner, so I don't know much. But yes, I believe your filter works more effectively if the flow rate is lower and within the filter's...

Which Motor - VGreen 1.65HP or Ecotech EZ 3HP

Well, I ordered the Ecotech EZ 3HP Variable Speed Motor. I called their store (Perrys Pool Pump | and Electric Motor Repair) before ordering, and they were quite helpful and answered all my questions. When asked about the reliability of the motor, he was honest about it and said that the...

Any idea on the reliability of the 3HP motor? I couldn't any detailed specs for it. Know any pump that comes with that motor?

Which Motor - VGreen 1.65HP or Ecotech EZ 3HP

The motor on my pool pump died last week (old thread here), and I've decided to upgrade to a variable speed motor without disturbing the plumbing. I've narrowed my choices to: a) Century VGreen 1.65HP VS Motor (Model: ECM16CU) - Seems well reviewed/tested and considered a reliable motor - Costs...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Well, according to these specs from InyoPools, my pump (SP-3015X20) already has the SPX3000BN Diffuser and the SPX3005R Wear-Ring. Only the Impeller is different, the pump has SPX3015C and you are recommeding the smaller SPX3010C. So, looks like I need to change only the impeller, get a new seal...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Oh man..... and here I thought I got it all figured out. I wanted to avoid cutting the pipes and re-plumbing. Also, trying to keep the cost low as possible. I will consider moving up to the 2.7 HP version (Model ECM27CU). Would you mind giving your opinion on the the following motor & pump...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Thanks, yes I think it would fit too. But, as everyone is recommending, I am sold on the benefits of a Variable Speed Motor and decided to go for it. Was all set to order the Pureline 1.65 HP model # PL2605, but after a bit more research, decided to buy just the motor from that model: The...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Thanks. I searched the previous threads on the forum for the Pureline Pumps and looks like the owners are happy with them. I am leaning towards the Pureline VS pump, will call InyoPools on monday and see what they recommend.

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Yes, downloaded the warranty card from Pentair web site and checked the details. 60-days warranty and owner has to pay for shipping to & from Pentair for any warranty claim. Doesn't inspire much confidence. Any opinion on the PureLine VS Pool Pumps sold by InyoPools? I am considering the...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Thanks, looks like I will be going with the Superflo VS. Just got back from Leslie's pool supply. They have it for $970 + taxes and $99 for installation only if I put in the order today (8/31). They say the $99 installation offer expires today, and it is $250 from tomorrow. I asked about...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Thanks for confirming that the motor is dead. I will replace it. The pump is Hayward SP3015X20AZ Super II Inground Pool Pump. Serial no. starts with 21110601 (so, manufactured in Jan 2006?). Might as well replace the pump along with the motor. Would the SuperFlo VS with 1.5 hp be a good fit...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Sorry, forgot to post - No ohm reading between L1 and L2 - reads O.F (Open or Out of Range). The 218V reading was with load (wires still connected to the motor). I measured now with the wires disconnected and it reads 243V. I don't have a stove element or anything similar to do the load test...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Between L1 & L2 - 218V Didn't measure L1 & L2 individually, but I am sure power supply is good as there is a booster pump next to it for the pool cleaner and it turns on fine. Good to know there is no centrifugal switch, so it must be the windings then. Here are the readings: L1 to C1 = 1.5 Ω...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Thanks for the reply. Here is pic of the lable on the motor: The centrifugal switch is the only item I couldn't check, and it is bothering me. Maybe I should go get that bolt extractor set from Harbor Freight and open the back. Atleast that'd confirm if the centrifugal switch is the problem...

Pool Motor hums but won't start - please help!

Hi All, I am new here, and this is my first post. Last month we bought a house with a small pool (about 15,000 gallons by my estimate). The pool has a Hayward SP3015X20AZ Super II Inground Pool Pump driven by a US Motors EB130 2HP Motor. I thought motor ran loud & rough, but the pool guy said...
