Can ends of 6' hoses be replaced to shorten length? Have seen screw on ends for vacuum hoses, would they work here?

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

I don't like to use poison either. However, how does one live trap an underground dweller?

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

One problem...would have to catch one to find out if it has a star nose...outside of trapping, the other methods are deterrents, not poisons. Haven't read about other more permanent methods.

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

Thanks for reply. Yes, real moles. I caught one last year, saw ground moving and took shovel and slammed into area. Bingo! But that's a fluke. I have one of these traps and haven't been able to catch anything. I just need to figure out how to block them from doing damage to pool floor.

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

Live eastern coast NE NC. Have soil that is pretty much sand. Pool installed by previous owner, sand base, lined steel panels, cove padding. By the book. Now, we have been having problems with moles  devastating our yard with their tunnels, even trying to get under liner. Edges under pool...

    CYA loss from water evap?

CYA is not lost due to evaporation. CYA does degrade slowly in pool water and can degrade a bit quicker in warmer water. That and the test is +/-10 ppm to begin with. So a drop from 40 to 30 is not surprising. Liquid stabilizer is quicker to raise the CYA. I should have written CYA test dot...

Suspect a leak as well, can't find evidence - waiting for the gusher, I guess. Trying to keep things clean until then.

    CYA loss from water evap?

3 weeks 90+ temps, no rain, I have been adding water approx 2 inches per day. CYA had been 40, was adding gallon of bleach per day, testing 6-7ppm. FC numbers started dropping and rechecked CYA and found less than 30. Have my daily water additions caused CYA loss? Also read somewhere CYA loss...

    Cloudy Water

I wouldn't wait for overnite results. I'd start a SLAM. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Did you do a Combined Chlorine test?

Cannot locate any obvi leaks, use TFP method. We have been fairly dry this season and not terribly humid. Although we have...

    Sand coming out of return

Hi all - Need some advice. Neighbor and I have Hayward sand filters. She closed pool, I did not. Decided to do deep clean of filters several weeks ago.. Started with hers. Did not attach pump, just started by capping filter drain and started adding water using hose to gently poke around. Got...
