Gunite was done yesterday, 11/6. Regrettably, I'm traveling for work, but my surveillance camera got some of the action:

It was a quiet week, we had a few days of storms and that delayed the Gunite. The plumbers came back a couple of times to do some small work. Here's a shot of the main plumbing all coming together: 10/28:

Need urgent help with cracking/leaking pool on a hillside in Austin, TX!

Thanks for coming back to tell your story. I appreciate you responding to my note as well. I'm impressed with what your house builder did to make that right. It's such a gorgeous home and pool! Cheers!

Saltwater Pool - Travertine with Concrete Coping or Porcelain Tile to Edge

I pretty much found the same thing regarding the temperature. We are more or less set on Ivory travertine in 12x24. Thanks!

I plead the 5th !?! We really wanted to buy a house with a pool, but I think I trivialized what a pool would cost and how much hassle it was. In our area, which is a very specific area of Austin with a particular school track, we did observe homes with pools, particularly nice ones sold...

Thanks, I have no reason to be concerned other than ignorance, but from everything I've read and researched, it's directly inline with best industry practices. I'll keep everyone posted as this thing progresses.

For what it's worth, and taking walkinpool's advice, I reached out to my pool builder. Given the detailed pics from that build are no longer available, I just explained about it and asked him to fill in some details in addition to confirming the engineering. His response is below. I'll try to...

Thanks, yeah we got the bubblers in, and I had him add two plumbed parts so we can have fountain-bowls. As far as the standard pool pump systems, I have to trust he knows what he's doing because I wouldn't be able to tell if it's over or under plumbed, but the vanity stuff/features we all wanted...

I think I found it, was it this one: https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/need-urgent-help-with-cracking-leaking-pool-on-a-hillside-in-austin-tx.175162/ It's a bummer we never heard back, and regrettably for me, the Dropbox link is bad, so I have no idea how bad it was or any comparison in...

Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone where I got the funds for this. I should’ve asked for more. The first post has the 3D images attached (not embedded)

Thanks for confirming and asking. It’s reassuring. If you recall the thread about the pool that had a leaning wall, I’d like to learn from that. Please share if you know where it is.

Honestly, that's a good question. Thanks for posting. Looking at this zoomed in version, it certainly looks like the rebar is bent all the way across the ground and up the entire walls. This is on all four sides consistently across, but this image is from the backwall (the largest part). Am I...

If cost were the same, would that change your opinion on porcelain? Do you have any pictures of your setup?

Looking for any more porcelain people to chime in (or anyone with knowledge/opinion on the subject).

Saltwater Pool - Travertine with Concrete Coping or Porcelain Tile to Edge

Just tested it, it's really hard to tell. At first, it still feels like there's more traction on the porcelain, but I feel the travertine actually has a tiny bit more traction despite how it feels. My wife feels otherwise, but I think the porcelain gives you a sensation of traction because you...

Saltwater Pool - Travertine with Concrete Coping or Porcelain Tile to Edge

No, but I took it home so will try. The porcelain was notably stickier than the travertine.

Saltwater Pool - Travertine with Concrete Coping or Porcelain Tile to Edge

This is the porcelain we're looking out. The sales person as well as another site that seems to sell it says it's Made in USA. Whether that's good or bad, I don't know in this context: https://www.mastertile.net/product/aimtragri-24x24/ Our PB only uses decking/copying from Master Tile...

Saltwater Pool - Travertine with Concrete Coping or Porcelain Tile to Edge

Correct, it's a concrete base. To clarify the statement of $300K pool, that was what she said, basically to try and make emphasis on the porcelain being so great. Effectively, it's a comment like, "people with no care of money and building $300k or $500K are doing porcelain." That said, as you...
