    Vinyl Pool Bid....

I will have him do the dummy cell. Great idea! im sure he will do it no issue. He said he would do a SWG, he just doesnt recommend them. on #7, why are you against vermiculite? I thought that was pretty standard. - - - Updated - - - most likely true, as are the ones who talk down the...

    Vinyl Pool Bid....

trucking the dirt? No. Not needed. Yard is sloped a bit... about 2 feet slope over 20 feet. Not too bad. he will be using most of the dirt to put on the slope side of the pool as I do not want a retaining wall. The remainder, if any, he will dump on my gun range berm on property. It could...

Can't dig to level yard due to utility lines buried across entire yard!!! What now???

dang... that stinks. what I would do: 1. Call utility companies 2. Be the nicest, sweetist booty kissing person you can be (dont be ashamed, its how the world works, you get more flies with honey, its a game learn to play it and you would be surprised at what you can get done) I once got...

    Vinyl Pool Bid....

So, my PB, who im liking, as he seems down to earth and straightforwad, despises SWGs as he claims they are horrid on the pools and equipment, comparing it to road salt on cars. I told him about the TFP method, and thst ive used it for 6 years no with no issues. He replied that using bleach is...

    Vinyl Pool Bid....

Im out in the country. I plan on going with a tropical theme. Im going to plant some banana trees, needle palms and other tropical like vegetation that is oklahoma friendly. I cant afford to vacation in the tropics every year with my 8 kids....so im going to bring the tropics here. ;)

    Vinyl Pool Bid....

Thanks! Yes padding on top of steel step kit before liner. I also liked that PB said the liner would be a bit thicker there and very slightly ribbed on the steps so they arent slippery. Good idea about the gcfi outlets! Ill do that. Im going to run some conduit myself to the landscaping for...

    Waterfall questions....

We are planning a new build. 18x42 inground vinyl 3.5' to 7' deep. We would love a faux rock waterfall in the deep end but due to current budget, its something we would have to add later, and in fact, something I believe that I could do myself as most of these faux waterfalls come in kits and...

    Vinyl Pool Bid....

Thought I would see what you guys thought of this bid I got on our pool. I dont want the ozonator. Im gonna stick with the TFP method that has worked for me for so many years.......at least at first and then I might switch to SWG. maybe. undecided on that, but for sure TFP method to start...

    high pH....

no sir. 10% bleach from Walmart. I have never used a puck, not once. When I bought my first pool, I luckily found this site...being a BBB'r from the start. :p

    high pH....

yeah, it normally will come back down. usually it goes higher after a top off with the hose or rain. once in a while it will dip to 7.2 for a day. 90% of the time its 7.4-7.6. Thats with a TA of 80.
  13. G

    high pH....

tested today on our little 14 ft intex at 8.0... I thought that the rule was that for vinyl its not as big a deal to have high pH unless you are running a SWG. So do you vinyl guys do anything about a pH of 8.0 or just wait to see if it comes back down? This was after a top off of water...

    Another filthy swamp story

hey, I had a very reputable pool builder in my area just the other day when he was giving me an estimate on a new pool tell me that SWGs are horrid and that baqua with an ozonator is the only way to go..... lol he asked me which system I wanted and I told him neither.... I do "liquid...

    Will this ever get easier!

sounds like you need to SLAM it. I dont know how your set up, but ive had a pool for 6 years now, about to build another one at a new house we built last year. I have opened to crystal clear pools every year. here is how: 1. open early. Dont care where you are at right now unless its...

Pricing out new pool... SWG questions...

yeah... I think some of these "extras" im going to do myself later, like the SWG. seems after talking to several of these places they mark up all this stuff, so if its something I can do myself, ill save some coin. 1800 for a SWG that it appears I can get everywhere else for 800-1000 is a bit...

Splashing in pool making swimmers cough.

I like to set the goal high.... :p keep the focus on keeping it at slam level as much as possible... yes, unless you are a robot and dont sleep, its impossible. but if one strives to keep it at slam level at all times, you will have a more successful slam. I never meant to advocate going...

    Outdoor TV help please

Black Friday 50 inch special. I have had it outside for 3 years now mounted 8 feet up on the wall. Winter time I put a garbage bag over it just to seal out condensation. As long as its far enough under porch, a regular TV is fine. NO WAY would I pay the insane price for a "outdoor" TV. I...

    Grass is NOT low maintenance!

thats crazy $$$ for turf. I was considering some on our build, but not at that price. wonder if I can DIY it... :p as far as weedwacking your pool fence, I HATE weedwhacking with a passion... dont mind other yardwork but hate weed whacking. So I popped $40 for a back pack sprayer and...

Splashing in pool making swimmers cough.

Yes you need to get it up to slam level ASAP and hold it there. You don't let it drop below slam level for even a second until CC is 0ppm water is crystal clear and it passes an OCLT. I seriously would have bought like 15 jugs worth of bleach because that's probably what it's going to take...

Pricing out new pool... SWG questions...

after being a BBBer (Troublefree pool method) for so many years, I im considereing a SWG on this next pool, 18 x 42 vinyl inground. We are shopping around with pool builders. First, I know to start out a pool it will take several hundred lbs of salt, but after that, will I need that much...

Increase FC prior to swimmer load?

absolutely. Welcome to advanced pool management... 8-) like the other two said, either bring it to just under shock level or to highest FC target level. I split the difference and just go about 5ppm above target level. Then test again once everyone leaves. As long as you dont go over shock...

    Testing CYA with Taylor K-2006

FWIW, I always do the CYA test 3 times. (Meaning, I fill up til I cant see the dot, then dump it back in the little squirt bottle, and do it again.) I do 3 tests under different light conditions just to triple check. That CYA test is one I want to make darn sure I get correct.

Starting over again.... couple of questions....

its amazing how much of this you forget in just year and halfs time of not doing it. We had to sell out last house and build a bigger one (our family keeps growing) :D So we dont have the doughboy buried 16 x 32 anymore..... man I miss it......:( Its going to be a few years before we can...

Should I even bother with CYA...

but since CYA is strictly "suncreen for pools" (words from the link) then I would think it wouldnt be necessary if the pool is in the shade 95% of the time and the other 5% is indirect sunlight. but I guess, erroring on the side of caution, rather than invest in a test kit just for cya, ill...

Should I even bother with CYA...

We just sold our house with our lovely doughboy pool that we already miss. We are renting a house right now until we finish contstructing our new house. My little ones have to have something for the summer so I bought a 49.99 intex summer scapes pool. 10ft x 2.5 feet ~1500 gallons and...
