Thanks. Definitely not passing OCLT yet...i just figured it was more related to lack of CYA is all. Will raise it and keep SLAMing. I had to SLAM last year and it was one day and done.

As I said. I haven’t passed OCLT. you say clear doesnt matter. Yet it is one of the three reqs. The two that matter the most are cya and FC. Both posted. Ph 7.4 TA 120 CYA 10??? FC as above. Depends when tested. Chlorine age won’t make it drop faster. Chlorine age will make it weaker...

that's my point. I was SLAMing. sorry i didn't include it. With such a low CYA, isn't that causing the quick loss? " SLAMing an outdoor pool is most effective when CYA is around 30 to 40. Below 30 you lose too much chlorine to sunlight." I can't imagine algae is eating this when the pool is...

Another CYA and FC Loss thread

All summer I battled with FC dropping faster than last year and the occasional small patch of algae. Water has been totally clear as always. since we are getting ready to pull the ladder I wanted to ensure there truly was no algae. Jacked FC to 19. Morning it is 12. Pool ia covered with...

    human PH

Lots of conflicting studies on this. Softened water tastes bad too. just tested ph of softened well water 7.2 and distilled is 6.6. Ouch he doesn't drink soda but is a picky eater. No filters out there that leave minerals apparently.

    Thank you!

CC testing, 0.x vs 0.0x vs trace

New to this and loving the site. So I test for FC, then do the CC test. ALWAYS turns the slightest shade of pink and one drop returns it to clear. So by the instructions, that is 0.5 1) is it really? I always say "trace" as I doubt it is 0.5 2) is it worth diluting to be more accurate? FC...

    PH and TA "issue" (???)

they even checked the computer, both are out and not carrying the rest of the year...probably too many dummies (like me for now) buying in paint section. Off to Ace and Runnings. TA is now 130 and pH at 7.0

    PH and TA "issue" (???)

is adding acid part of normal routine? I know my TA is still high and I need to try some MA instead of dry acid (been through 16 pounds of that and the pH just goes back up to 7.8+. dropped to 7.2 (didn't want to go lower as we still swim) and TA dropped from 240 to 200 with dropping pH and...
