    400 gallons per day loss

yep, and today is a bit windier. similar temp and humidity in single digits at the moment. We live on a acre+ that is wide open to the elements. We feel the breeze far more than the average home in the area. I thought 400 was high also(which started the chase), but I've dug around most of...

    400 gallons per day loss

Just a follow up note, and a thanks for anyone who chimed in. I guess I've been chasing a ghost. I spent that past several days getting up and adding water to the pool at the exact same time, to the exact same level, then reading the water meter. I added about 400 gallons everyday on the...

    400 gallons per day loss

I tried using the dye prior. Around returns and light fixture. I did not see it being drawn out or any movement really. I'm in the process of doing the bucket test. Second day had almost identical # of gallons out. At least it's consistent. :)

    400 gallons per day loss

We did notice the drop rate declined when it cleared the returns last time drained. I guess that's why I suspect something. However as mk indicated out evap rate is high and I couldn't distinguish a significant difference looking at 3 years of water bills. Gonna do a bucket test and monitor.

    400 gallons per day loss

wow...that seems like a lot. Your signature indicates a 6K gal pool. Doesn't that get pretty warm this time of year? Evap faster? Our pool is a bit above 30K gallons. As the wife and I discussed, until she retired a couple of years ago she didn't pay much attention to the water bill. I...

    400 gallons per day loss

After doing some repair/patch work to a bench crack and some other annoyances, I'm still experiencing water loss. Filled pool back up this week to top of spa wall. Turned off water and waited 24 hours. Meter shows 400 gallons used to bring it back up to top of wall. We have a large surface...

    Hayward Super Pump Problem

Agree with earlier posts about capacitor. Experienced the same. I'm guessing, but could need a new shaft seal. I pulled my entire pump assembly apart a couple of times. Did replace that seal prior. Not that hard. Basically a chance to lube and check parts. Cheaper than a new motor for a...

Decking to tile to pebble...seap crack fix?

Thanks AJW. I did some prior research and read about the Vulken product. When you say structurally decouple are you suggesting removing the decking and reinstall? If I understand your argument, the decking is putting pressure on the pool wall itself?

Decking to tile to pebble...seap crack fix?

As MinerJason said, it's stamped deck, not other stone. Just large slabs of decking. However I thought the same about grouting to top. I would prefer a silicon grout/caulk on top to allow some flex and still seal. Not sure if that's the answer, but seems appropriate.

Decking to tile to pebble...seap crack fix?

This pool was originally built in mid 80's by Cameo Pools...if anyone remembers them. We bought property in late 2000. Remodeled pool in 2005. I Perhaps it's just old. Originally built in mid 80's by Cameo Pools...maybe you remember them? We'll find out more. Gonna put water back in...

Decking to tile to pebble...seap crack fix?

The deck is comprised of larger sections that extend to paver area or dirt. The expansion joints are perpendicular to pool. There is a joint at paver edge. The area of deck near pool area stamped for effect. Make sense?

Decking to tile to pebble...seap crack fix?

Thanks for responses. I can't say exactly what was done in 2005. I saw things intermittently. I was working and only witnessed certain days of work. No one brought a structural issue to our attention, so I assume they did a typical redo. We've done a bit of stuff in the back of this...

PB used Stonescape when contract was for Pebblesheen

ROC is registrar of contractors. I'm in AZ. Maybe other states refer to contractor licensing differently.

PB used Stonescape when contract was for Pebblesheen

What does your contract and bill of sale say. If it says Pebbletec...they are wrong and need to resolve. Heck, they acknowledged the error according to your post. Wrong pallet? Not your problem. That's on them. If you think it's worth 60%...maybe you call it a deal I'm no expert but...

Decking to tile to pebble...seap crack fix?

Help with proper fix/product. Started with a suspected pool leak. Did't intend to pull tile off, but hollow sounds made me suspicious and the loose tile coincide with the sidewall cracks in pebbletec. Above each of those areas is an expansion gap in the decking. I'm no pro, but it seems to...

    Loose tile and cracks

Sorry...replying to my own post but wanted to add something. I started digging out some of the top grout/elastic top line of the tile. Posted some more pics. Kind of curious why they used the cement grout to top and then covered with what I assume is a silicon grout. I would have thought it...

    Loose tile and cracks

Perhaps I'm wasting my time and should just have my pool resurfaced, but I'm not there yet. We had to drain the pool to fix a crack in a bench area. That has been done and patched. Not a perfect match but I can live with it for now. Wife says we'll die in this house so I'm fine with it. :)...

Is it bad? I use it as a shock. A bucket last over a year.

Chunk of concrete breaking off raised area

Thanks Jason. I'm not 100% sure how it was poured. I wasn't present at that moment. I did see some sandbags that were put in under a rebar framework before that occurred. I don't know what the proper method would be. I agree tearing out everything loose. Get a solid foundation and build...

Chunk of concrete breaking off raised area

This goes back over a year ago, so here's a condensed story. Pool was remodeled from plaster to pebble about 11 years ago. Steps, raised bench areas and spa were added at that time. Noticed a crack near spa area bench that slowly got worse. We also began to think we had a leak in the pool...

Cracks in 10+ year pebble tec

Not sure if age has anything to do with it, but seems I'm getting a number of cracks in my pool. We did a remodel in 2007. plaster to pebble. Original pool was built in 1987 if I recall. Most of the cracks are on the edges of submerged bench/beach areas and steps. All are on the edges that...

Trying to identify leak, decline slowed below returns

I did initially suspect the light, but the water stopped dropping at the same rate once it cleared the returns. The light is still another foot or so submerged. I'm actually digging around the area anyway and the conduit is tracking with the pvc pipes. Bad thing is it's a diving pool so there...

Trying to identify leak, decline slowed below returns

Thanks Jim. I did the bucket test. Water level was dropping about .5 inch per day. Typically it was closer to an eighth of an inch maybe. Our spa level did not drop at the rate of the pool, so it was kind of easy to identify. I think I'll plug and refill. Keep digging around. I really...

Trying to identify leak, decline slowed below returns

Trying to identify where a leak is most probably located...if possible Noticed pool level declining faster than normal about 6 weeks ago. Turned everything off and let water level fall on it's own. Rate of drop slowed considerably after it cleared returns. One caveat, and perhaps I should...

    Leak, stopped below return

Glad you were able to find it. My water level is still dropping. Just getting past the lowest returns. If it continues past, I assume the light fixture is the issue, which has been my suspicion all along since it quit working. Merry Christmas!

    Leak, stopped below return

Seems if you plugged all three and filled back above that return where the the leaking stopped, assuming level holds, it would suggest one of those returns. I'm uncertain how the water backfills into the other pipes off that tee. Perhaps start unplugging the lowest return first? if it still...

    Leak, stopped below return

So your drop stopped after it fell below return level? I'm thinking I should get some plugs as mentioned earlier in the thread. My pool is right at the height of the returns today. I couldn't detect any movement with the dye around them. I may put a ladder into the pool so I can get a good...

    Leak, stopped below return

Curious how you are doing. I'm in Mesa, AZ and experiencing similar. Our pool level just got to the height of the returns, so monitoring to see if stops or continues to light level. My suspicion is our light because it coincidentally stopped working, however not sure. I did just get my dye...
