Have you checked the ORP dosage limit? Normally it will not dose if that limit has been exceeded in a 24 hour period. The limit can be manually cleared as well.

Yup. Neither the MasterTemp or the IntelliChem call for the red wire. Both specifically say only black, green, yellow.

I had a service technician here yesterday on another issue. He advised that for the IntelliCenter RS485 connected devices only the green and yellow wires are needed. That is the case for my VSF pumps, but my MasterTemp heater and the IntelliChem use the black wire too. The installation manual...

It is quick. 5-10 minutes.

For me, the power to the IntelliChem is connected to the load side of the pool/spa pump power relay. I power off the pool/spa pump at the sub-panel breaker to ensure no power to the IntelliChem is possible while cleaning.

Do you have a picture to show where it is touching. Normally the cover can be adjusted (toward the left or right) to avoid it being a problem.

I have 2 VSF pumps and both use FW v2.11. I’ve not had any issues after the IntelliCenter 2.017 upgrade. I believe the issue only applies to FW v3.03 and v3.04.

Thanks for the feedback. I had just read of the possibility in the Electrical Surge Protection - Further Reading and did not realize that this might have been more specific to EasyTouch. I will hold off on surge protection for the RS-485 comms. Much appreciated. Tony

Brief update: I’m in direct communication with a Pentair technical manager. They are investigating this issue further. They suspect it might be an issue with the MasterTemp firmware, but not confirmed. More to come!

For me, 2.017 has been very stable, especially RS485 comms. I’ve not yet had a loss of comms between IntelliCenter and IntelliPro VSF pumps (pumps have FW version 2.11) or MasterTemp heater. I still would like to see more from Pentair on what they enhanced or fixed. They clearly put much effort...

I think we also had @KevMo advise use of MasterTemp FW 2.0. Also - I believe - that the MasterTemps don't have a path to a FW upgrade without replacing the control board. I've not seen any documentation on MasterTemp FW updates.

Agree. I installed 2.006 to check on enhancements and then returned to 1.064 as it is easy to switch between firmware versions.
