Can you run a pump off a generator?

Does liquid chlorine ever go bad? I have a bottle from a year or so ago that was never opened.

Can you run a pump off a generator?

First of all I wasn't sure if this was the right location to post this in or not so mods please move it as needed. So with a potential hurricane approaching (1st one ever since owning a pool) it got me thinking about what I would do with the power out. It got me thinking and I had a couple...

    Intellicenter stick on pool mode

I'll have to check but I don't think so. One thing I forgot to mention (not sure it makes a difference) is that the green status light for the pool in on during all this but if I touch it it won't turn off even though the pump is not running.

    Intellicenter stick on pool mode

Thanks I'm not sure if it's nodejs or pentair but I was thinking pentair but I don't know the detailed workings of what turns the chlorinator on and off.

    Intellicenter stick on pool mode

I'll try to grab a screenshot tomorrow as it apparently has dropped off my network again. I do have the pool circuit setup on there and this only happens sometimes. I should mention I also run nodejs pool controller due to issues with the pentair system that drove me crazy. I attached a...

    Intellicenter stick on pool mode

So I've noticed a couple times now that when my scheduled pool run time ends for the day the "pool" will still show active. The pump will stop but the chlorinator will still have power and everything and I have to reboot the panel to fix this. Has this happened to anyone else?

    Green tint to pool?

I did not know that I was told to always do it. Unfortunately I let it go too long so my salt is at 2600 and the generator has shut off so it's probably safer to shut it off right?

    Green tint to pool?

Nope not on a well... We've had some pretty bad rains the past couple days though. I need to add salt in the pool today so I'll have to shut the cell off the 24 hours with that. Thanks

Yeah I'll post a pic shortly. My CYA is always and issue and seems like to be at 50

    Green tint to pool?

Pool water looked great yesterday but I woke up today and the pool seems to have a hazy green tint to it. I don't know of this is from the bad storm we had roll through last night. I ran a full test and everything came back good (although I need to adjust some stuff). I was hoping it was...

Ok thanks for the response so this is completely normal for the area it sounds.

    CYA loss a concern?

I have the salt test kit I just don't use it often (part lazy and part spendy reagent). Good to know on the cell life (luckily mine is only a year old). I'll try to start doing the CYA test outside to see what level I get and I can monitor it for a few weeks to see if I get the same drop. I...

    CYA loss a concern?

The pool doesn't have an auto fill. Water loss doesn't seem excessive maybe an inch every week or two (haven't been tracking) I suppose I could have read them differently but I do my test inside in the same location at about the same time each week. I'll be honest I normally don't test salt...

    CYA loss a concern?

I'll try to keep this simple and sorry if it's a silly question but at what point should you be concerned about CYA dropping? It seems like everytime I raise the CYA it drops quickly. I added 91oz of dry stabilizer 22 days ago and my CYA had dropped from 70 to 50. I just want to make sure I...

Best way to clean waterline tile?

We have a large amount of 1 X 2 glass tile that is showing some white scum on it. I tried to Mr. Clean Magic Eraser but it didn't take everything off. Does anyone have a cleaner recommendation for cleaning tile? I was hoping some spray chemical with a drill driven brush would work but I don't...

Would you run your pool differently if you had unlimited electricity?

We intentionally went large because with a growing family and everything (also didn't exactly know how much power the pool would consume) it's easier to consume more power than it is to reduce consumption. At the time it was something we were completely OK with because how everything worked out...

Would you run your pool differently if you had unlimited electricity?

We have some on the Tree's and want to add more around but we're using the phillips Hue lights so they're super low power consumption also

Would you run your pool differently if you had unlimited electricity?

Yeah during the summer I probably wouldn't heat it overnight but right now it's 59 so I was thinking during the winter months heat it up and then during summer let it drop off overnight (we also have a small chill mode on the heat pump)
