    Ascorbic Acid Treatment Issue

Thanks again Texas. Strong backs indeed! Actually, no algae problems and it has been 70's and even low 80's. Early spring will be high 50's when open and zero chlorine so glad I bought 8 lbs AA! Still have at least 4-5 lbs left! Looks like I'll get back to it early spring and go for small...

    Ascorbic Acid Treatment Issue

Thanks Texas! What if I close as is and deal with it in spring? I have my sons home to help today in a few hours and am travelling next week - do not want to wait until Oct with leaves falling here. Is there a likelihood of more permanent stains if I leave them for 7 months? I'd also consider...

    Ascorbic Acid Treatment Issue

Hi All, I had some staining and used a vitamin C tab to test and it came right off. So, I read all the articles here about ascorbic acid treatments of stains and followed closely. Worked so fast and amazingly well. Really impressive. I kept PH at 7.2 and slowly raised chlorine over a couple...

Why 4-6 ppm FC for SWG?

Keep my CYA in that range. Just wondering about the liner fade most of all. Seems from what others write here. older liners used pigment that would fade. Maybe that is all. Although my previous liner of 12 years did not fade this quickly and my current liner is when i started SWG and FC 4-6...

Why 4-6 ppm FC for SWG?

See here for suggestion of 4-6 for SWG - Water Balance for SWGs - Trouble Free Pool

Why 4-6 ppm FC for SWG?

Hi All, Been part of TFP for years and have a good degree of mastery of chemistry. I'm wondering the rationale for recommending 4-6 ppm for a pool with SWG? It definitely seems to take color out of my liner quicker than when I kept levels of FC at 1-3 ppm. Wondering the reasoning so I can...

High PH - low Alkalinity -- SWG

Thanks Richard! Very helpful. I need something which will decrease TA without much effect on PH and 1/4 of the price - can't beat that. Perfect. Is there a good substitute for dry acid? For the record - I have definitely read about this in the past in the past on Pool School - it is definitely...

High PH - low Alkalinity -- SWG

Hi All, I've been smooth sailing for some time and am now in a tricky spot with my SWG. TA has been hovering around 50/55. not too bad but a bit lower than I'd like. PH hovering around 7.8. not too high but near the top of range. Yesterday PH went to about 8.0 and I used Leslies Dry Acid to...

Liner Lock failing - need a solution

I posted above about the little wedges for tile work - just opened pool in NJ and first time in many years all liner is in place! Can't go wrong - 500 for $5.95.

Liner Lock failing - need a solution

Amazing! This solution exceeded expectations. I used these tile spacers as shared above: QEP Tile Wedge Spacers for Alignment and Spacing of Wall Tiles (500-Pack)-10285Q - The Home Depot - $5.95 for 500!!! Pics below show tools and the wedges after they were installed. I used needle-nose...

Liner Lock failing - need a solution

I plan to pull out a foot at a time since liner lock is not too tight and reinsert with these simultaneously. Hope to do with fingers and maybe a light rubber mallet tap at the end once they are mostly in. 500 for $6 - worth a shot. Also, I only need to do this for about 25 linear feet. The most...

Liner Lock failing - need a solution

Thanks again. I'm really hoping for plastic and white to match liner lock and blend in and handle weather/chemicals but your shim idea is helpful. Look at this at Home Depot - might be perfect: QEP Tile Wedge Spacers for Alignment and Spacing of Wall Tiles (500-Pack)-10285Q - The Home Depot...

Liner Lock failing - need a solution

Thanks for the reply. I need pieces about the size of a dime. Can these be cut that small? Also, is the thinnest part of these things a bit thinner than a dime? Even a dime is too thick. Appreciate your answers to these follow-up questions if you can.

Liner Lock failing - need a solution

Hi All, I've posted before about this but still no solution. My liner is three years old and all liner lock was replaced at that time. Liner lock pops regularly around pool in several spots, especially where pool curves outward. My pool is 16 years old and I wonder if the track itself (into...

    Liner out of track

Thanks for the info. What makes this different than the usual liner lock? Also, they seem to have several types (standard vs. thick and straight vs. notched). I'm wondering since my current liner lock seems to not be snug enough if the thick version of this will do the trick. Not sure about...

    Liner out of track

Thanks! That looks like pieces of liner lock cut from a long strip into little pieces. Is that correct? Also, my library does have a 3-D printer and I may print out little plastic circles the size of a dime or penny and use that as someone suggested.

    Liner out of track

Liner is generally fine and only small sections pop out over winter. No pop outs over summer. Liner lock (white strips which hold liner in track) keep coming out and I want to get them in snugly. Pretty sure track is too wide. I have several suggestions for items to use as wedges to add to...

    Liner out of track

Thanks. Won't the pennies rust or give off some kind of discoloration onto the liner lock or the top of the liner? If not, that is certainly the easiest solution. I am pretty handy and actually take a small screwdriver with a wide, blunt tip and a rubber mallet to the liner lock. It is in as...

    Liner out of track

Re: Liner out of track A-B-Cs zea3 - that is very interesting indeed. I may try it. I thought of flat washers at home depot but the color looks awful against the white liner lock. Thanks!

    Liner out of track

Re: Liner out of track A-B-Cs M3power - thanks for replying but I think you might have done too quick a read of my post. I have liner lock (and all the way around) but the liner lock is popping out. I'm looking for ways to better secure it in the track. If you take another look at my post my...

    Liner out of track

Hi All - my liner lock keeps coming out. 20'x40' in ground and replacement liner is 3 years old. Liner itself stays in all season even when liner lock pops out but over the winter (pool is closed from Oct-May) I get liner lock pops and some liner too. With my last liner (original) I knocked some...

    Mud stain - vinyl liner

Update - the stain had been there for about a month before I posted. I took the suggestion above and raised chlorine levels and brushed 3 times per day. Helped somewhat. then I bought a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and with a few good strokes (a few more in some places) it is gone.

    Mud stain - vinyl liner

Hi All: I recently had some renovation work done and my pool had to be pumped out into holding pools. While the work was being done in the deep end a bit of water leaked into the shallow end from the steps. The water was reddish brown presumably from the ground water under the liner and behind...

Is it possible to remove and then replace the SAME liner???

Thought I'd update on my original post. Turns out that the pool construction company WAS able to empty the pool (33K gallons) into temp holding pools and remove the liner from the entire deep end of the pool (20x40 free form). They removed 2 deep end drains, a skimmer, a wall return, a light...
