    Chlorine consumption and water temp

I don't think it's because there's more people in the pool. Like Dirk says, I test without pool action. When the temp is cooler I get readings around 3 to 5, and when I crank up the heat (brand new pool, brand new heat pump, brand new pipes etc) to around 29 to 30 (that's celcius people!)...

    Chlorine consumption and water temp

When I test my chlorine level, it's typically around 3 to 5. I have a SWG and don't really need to adjust it. And the water temp in summer without heating is around 25C. Maybe plus or minus a degree or two but 25 is the ballpark. That is just a bit cool for my wife who likes the water temp...

Salt water chlorinator not making any chlorine

Hi sroberts, as mgtfp says above you should be able to observe the chlorine gas getting generated. In your photo you'd be looking at the right hand side of the clear plastic cell. Although I don't have an Astral (I have a Henden) it works pretty much the same way. I can watch the chlorine...

    HY-CLOR Calcium Chloride impurities

And I was just about to buy a bag of Bunings Hy-Clor calcium increaser but swung by my local Swimart (my Swimart is closer than Bunnings) & paid around $9 more for the same quantity. Although my wallet is lighter, so is my comfort after reading this! Let us know what Hy-Clor say.

New heat pump arrived with possible transportation damage (Aust)

Thanks for all your responses. Sorry for the delayed getting-back! I had got in touch with the heat pump manufacturer and they basically said if there's no external damage to the exterior cardboard box then all should be OK. And I also double checked with another guy and they also confirmed...

New heat pump arrived with possible transportation damage (Aust)

I've just taken delivery of a new Evoheat pool heat pump. On the packaging box is a tiltwatch sticker which has turned red, indicating that the box has not been kept upright. One of these stickers: TiltWatch XTR | Tilt | SpotSee I haven't unpacked it yet as I am hoping the vendor will accept...

Heat Pump what's the best way to run it

Fiesta, I'm also about to drop a wallet-load on an Evoheat Fusion. If you're querying the best way to run it, I suggest giving Evoheat a ring. Their customer service is pretty good. But seeing as you have a blanket, it makes sense to run it during those cheaper rates (I am also on TOU tariff)...

Brand new pool. No chemicals for 6 weeks?

Thanks aussieta. I recognise your username from Whirlpool. I know this sounds wierd but when I search for sequestrant in a few pool supply shops, nothing comes up. No doubt my builder has all this under control but I just like to know the background of whats going on. Should I be looking for...

Brand new pool. No chemicals for 6 weeks?

To reply to my own thread, I've done more googling and research and can see now what he means. Even here on TFP I found this link which I think basically covers my question https://www.troublefreepool.com/blog/2019/01/18/start-up-new-plaster/ My pool builder is well recommended and experienced...

Brand new pool. No chemicals for 6 weeks?

So I am getting a new pool built (Sydney, Australia) concrete with a pebblecrete type surface - its actually glass beads called Jewels 4 Pools. And SWG. Is this what American's call plaster? I had cause to ring my local pool shop today and explained I was having a pool built right now. He...

    Best Value Robot in Australia?

I am also in a similar position to the OP. Looking for recommendations for a robotic cleaner for in-ground concrete pool with glass beading (Jewels 4 Pools to be exact). Whilst the recommendations I see here (that is, on these forums) is generally the Dolphin S200/Pentair Warrior SE I'd like to...

Newbie question (AUS). What is start-up and closing?

Ahhh, that explains it. I doubt there is anywhere in Australia where water turns to ice in the winter. Maybe in our alpine region? That's why I've never heard of it!

Newbie question (AUS). What is start-up and closing?

I saw this topic about pool startup and closing. What is pool closing? From what I gather, its preparing the pool for winter when there's no swimming? And startup is getting the pool back into shape for summer time? A few years ago I owned a pool for 15 years or so but moved out of that house...
