Sand and Dirt At Bottom of Pool

"To make matters worse, when it rains, the dirt just flows from the roof into the pool." In so far as I say, the roof drainage must be redirected. I get monsoons and I do not allow the roof drain into my pool, to many additional issues if it does.

    Time for A New Filter?

My Triton II sand filter started to "bleed" water from the tank after 18ish years but I live in the desert. Are the slide valve O rings need to be replaced? I can't answer some off the input questions but thought I would bump it.

    Sta-Rite Filter / Bleeder leaking

I got tired of dinking with mine over time. Off to Home Depot with the parts and built this from brass pipe fittings.

    Skimmer parts assitance

No, there is no port on the bottom. I thought it supposed to have an O ring on it tho. thus my questions. Sounds like all I need to do is adjust the diverter valve and claim success. Thanks!

    Skimmer parts assitance

I hate it when I learn things on this site... There are no O rings on the skimmer equalizer. There is no flap on it either. I am pretty sure that that is a Pentair 506160 equalizer (most of my hardware is pentair), which I intend to replace the equalizer if I am correct on the part number. I...

Can the ends of a Vacuum hose be replaced or do you need to replace the entire hose?

I cut the ends off and screwed on the new pool vacuum hose cuffs

    Rant: Missing Bleeder O-Ring

Yup, I got tired of driving around to find the needed O ring. Bought one of this and found I could use it for other projects.

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

As a side note. I just broke a lateral (stupidly) and decided to replace the sand since it is all coming out anway. Depot, Lowes and some Ace products are carrying Pool Filter Sand. The bags had no real information on them other than they are pool sand. I went to their web site and I noticed...

    Triton II TR60

Short Story: I think I have a broken lateral line(s). Long story: Cleaning out the 8 million mesquite leaves today. Vacuumed, empty the Caretaker bag, clean the 5 port screen. Everything was fine. 5 port screen filled again so I cleaned the screen and back washed again. Almost immediately...

    Caretaker Leaf Bag

I have a Caretaker clean system. It has a Caretaker/Zodiac Leaf Bag 4-4-400 with some tears on the bottom. Is there some method to repair/glue/? the tears without purchasing a replacement bag? Yes, I am cheap but the replacement bag is $60 - $120 depending on which site you look at. Thanks

Google for a snake stick. I have several gopher snakes (all named Doug). They can stay on the other side of the wall. When Doug comes in, I grab him with the stick and throw him over the wall. He usually doesn't come back. Doug likes mice, which is good, but I don't want to swim with him.....

Replaced Caretaker 5 port infloor assembly - only half pool cleaned.

Pull one pop up from each line and let the pump blow each line. The gauge could also be bad, my replacement guage was not that good (off by 4 PSI) so I just used the old gauge. Side note: as per the Caretaker Owners Manual "The operating pressure will vary depending on various factors such as...

    Existing In-floor cleaning system question(s)

I am pretty sure my pop ups do not move from shallow end to deep end, in a "straight line" (but my cover is on). I do know that my manufacture wanted that diagram reviewed so that the pop ups are placed in the correct/best locations and distributed evenly across the 5 plumping lines otherwise...

    Existing In-floor cleaning system question(s)

I have to assist my cleaners some times too. Primarily in the "corners". I would change yours to run twice a day as that worked better on mine. I run a 2 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening.

Korky Auto Fill Valves Don't Seem to Be Working

I forgot, yes but Phoenix doesn't do swampers. Mine is nothing but a 6 inch, horizontal 1/4 brass water float valve, nothing else. But I am horizontal.

Korky Auto Fill Valves Don't Seem to Be Working

AZ is a hard water feature. I would think a Korky is more towards total flush and refill kinda thing vs. a trickle fill. I am running a swap cooler fill valve. It gets stuck sometimes but I just smack it to knock off the calcium deposits and replace it every few years.

Need help with a pool that is new to us (Purchased a home w/ a pool)

Yup, odd positioning. 1st thing to do, when you start, is to take the line off the top of the 5 port. There is a stainless steel dome strainer on the top of the 5 port. I assume it will be choked with debris

    Caretake Leaf Trapper Lid Seal

I had the same kind of issue. I talked with the vender and they recommended to put the o ring in the freezer for 15 minutes (it will shrink the o ring) and then put it back on. That stopped the slipping when I put it back together. Worked for me.

Need help with a pool that is new to us (Purchased a home w/ a pool)

I agree with Richard320. If it used to have a 5 port (or something similar to the pic) and it was just cut off then I would think you have a bunch of still water underneath the pop ups. The other pic is the tool you need to twist the pop ups out.

What are all these valves for?

gonna need mo' pics. 1st pic has three black lines; 2 are coming out of the pool (skimmer and drain) the other is coming out of the spa. Joins together and heads into the pump and out of the pump. Into the filter (sand?) and out of the bottom. Next goes into the heater and looks like it has a...
