    Intellichem install updates

I've decided to use ORP as my metric and I've also decided it doesn't make sense to be controlling ORP on an hourly basis throughout the day. I plan to set the IC60 at 50% under my control, and just monitor ORP. So long as ORP is consistent at a particular time of day, I will go with ORP set...

    Intellichem install updates

Some pictures from the install. Couldn't post it to the original message.

    Intellichem install updates

I've been debating whether or not to get the Intellichem and decided to take the plunge and wanted to share some info about the install and settings - Just finished the install this weekend and I haven't had a chance to have it "take control" of my chemistry yet. Will update with that...

Intellicenter app not showing heat set point

Turns out I needed to set the schedule to "Don't Change" on the Heat selection. Previously, I had it to "Off". I also noticed that with the new firmware, I can update the schedule on the iOS app, and it correct updates the schedule. Previously, the schedule wouldn't get updated from the iOS app.

Intellicenter app not showing heat set point

I recently updated my Intellicenter firmware and I noticed that when I use the iOS app to turn on my heater in pool mode, I no longer have a menu to control the heat set point in the app. See attached pictures. Any setting I need to update due to the latest firmware? I can’t remember if the...

    Liquid CYA

I used 4 gallons on this stuff and it raises my CYA exactly as specified. I like it way better than powder, mixes so much easier

    IntelliPh opinion

I am considering adding a Intellichem or IntellipH as well for pH control. One thing I've tried recently is the WaterGuru water monitor. I've had it for 2 weeks now, it's pretty accurate in pH and about 0-2ppm low in FC (I have a SWG and have about 50-60 CYA, and usually have about 7-8ppm FC...

How much free chlorine is safe?

I'm curious why the recommended target FC is so close to the minimum level then? Why not have a larger offset and set the target at say 15 ppm to give headroom?

Intellichlor salt levels/cleaning & Intellicenter alerts

Thanks. Further searching found some old threads that said these Intellichlor error message emails are bogus. I guess I'll disable the alerts. I wanted to use the min amount of salt so that no one in my family complains about the taste!

Intellichlor salt levels/cleaning & Intellicenter alerts

Hi Just finished installing an IC60 and connecting it up to my Intellicenter. Salt level is around 2900 per Taylor test kit and Intellichlor is reporting via Intellicenter that I'm around the same (2950 - 2900). The Salt level light is green and Cell light is green as expected (per the...

best way to install IC60 and IntellipH

Thanks for the suggestions Jeff. I didn't realize there might be an incompatibility between IntellipH and the IC60. I believe my pool is between 22 and 25K gallons. Originally, i thought it was closer to 30K and thought the IC60 is the best choice, but maybe IC40 would be ok.

best way to install IC60 and IntellipH

Hi - I've decided to convert to a SWG system and will be installing an IC60 along with an IntellipH. I'm not sure if I really need the IntellipH, but since I'm going to cut up the plumbing, I figure might as well do the IntellipH at the same time. I also like the fact that the acid will keep...

Central Coast California Pool Build Thread

Did you choose an out of area builder? Just curious as you mentioned trying to find someone in the central valley. I'm in the bay area and just finished a remodel. It's difficult to get bids around here, and if the communication isn't good before the contract is signed, it won't improve after...

    Is this a copper stain?

Thank you @mknauss and @ajw22. I will monitor it and try Vitamin C when I get a chance. Good to know it's most likely not metals. I didn't see any new spots and the existing ones are the same or slightly lighter (e.g not getting worse)

    Is this a copper stain?

There are more than one such spots, some bigger but lighter. So it’s probably not a piece of metal that fell in. thanks for the vitamin c suggestion. I will try it but wondering if I should add the sequestrant

    Is this a copper stain?

Just had my pool replastered and it's been filled 4 days ago. I didn't add any sequestering agent as I though my fill water was low in minerals (and hence metal). But I'm noticing some light green stains showing up. I don't think it's algae as the water temperature is probably mid 50s - I...

replaster with StoneScapes mini-pebble, check my fill water readings

Thank you! You're right, the pool math app is matching my pool. The web page doesn't make sense. It says PH 8.0 needs 214 oz of 14.5% acid to lower PH 7.2. There's no way 214 oz of acid will bring the PH down based on what I see from adding 128oz of acid.

replaster with StoneScapes mini-pebble, check my fill water readings

NPT recommended getting TA to 80 on Day 1, so I added acid to try to bring it down, but it hasn't moved much. I added 128oz in 3 batches and waited 2-3 hours with some brushing before testing. Since 128oz only moved TA by 10 ppm and barely moved PH, I'm wondering how much acid I'd need to...

replaster with StoneScapes mini-pebble, check my fill water readings

Good suggestion on checking the water meter. I calculated that one hose would fill at a rate of 9 GPM, so I'm estimating 50 hours to fill the approximately 30K gallon pool. I might be off on the 30K gallon estimate, so the meter could help check, though I'd need to subtract the roughly 300 GPD...

replaster with StoneScapes mini-pebble, check my fill water readings

Thanks so much! I just got chlorine, muriatic acid, and stabilizer at homedepot. Ordered calcium and sequestering agent from amazon. My remodeler said they would fill and monitor for every day for 5 days. I'll keep an eye on everything and then take over thanks to all the help here. They...

replaster with StoneScapes mini-pebble, check my fill water readings

Hi - my replaster will be tomorrow with StoneScapes mini-pebble and I just checked my fill water readings with the TF100 kit. FC 1.0 CC 0 PH 8.0 CH 100 TA 120 CYA 0 NPT web site says to adjust TA to 80 first with muriatic acid on day 1 and then adjust PH between 7.2 and 7.6 with muriatic acid...

    Ground Rod

You're correct, I shouldn't have said no current can flow. It would flow from the source of higher potential and be sinking current from that higher potential. You're safe so long as no potential difference exists across you.

    Ground Rod

Sorry to belabor this point, but this isn't totally correct. The bonding grid being equal potential is a necessary but not sufficient condition to be safe. Why? Because if the bonding grid is at a potential voltage X relative to ground/earth, if one foot were on earth/ground and the other...
