use Intex SWG with a different pump?

We are upgrading our pump for our Intex pool and I'm curious if I can still continue to use the Intex SWG and disconnect the Intex pump to use a bigger pump. Has anyone done this with success?

Upgrading our Intex 12x24 Ultra pump, filter, heater

My neighbor is saying we can use our current Intex SWG with the new pump I linked above. Do you know if that's correct?

Upgrading our Intex 12x24 Ultra pump, filter, heater

Thank you. Yikes. This is getting expensive quickly! Not sure I can convince my husband to spend over $1500 on a new pump, filter, and SWG for a pool that cost less than that in the first place!

Upgrading our Intex 12x24 Ultra pump, filter, heater

Ahhh, yes, I forgot about the fact that the Intex system is a pump, filter, and SWG all in one. So if I buy this pump and sand filter, I'll also need to purchase a new SWG! Ugh!!!! Now I'm really not sure what to do!!!!

Upgrading our Intex 12x24 Ultra pump, filter, heater

We are entering our third season with our Intex Ultra 12x24x52 8400 gal saltwater pool. This summer we plan to add a deck, upgrade the pump/filter, and hopefully add a heater. We already added the Hayward through wall skimmer and upgraded the piping to 1.5" last season. We are in coastal...

Recommendations for replacing OEM Intex Sand Filter pump combo

Do you have any specific pump/sand filter recommendations? Also, we installed the Hayward skimmer and updated to 1.5" pipe last season, but we didn't add any jets. Do you have any advice on this? Thanks!

Recommendations for replacing OEM Intex Sand Filter pump combo

We already did the Hayward skimmer and 1.5" piping last season. Which pump/filter did you order?

Recommendations for replacing OEM Intex Sand Filter pump combo

Do you have the 12x24? I see you have a 18x9 cover, so I'm assuming you have the smaller version of this pool?

Recommendations for replacing OEM Intex Sand Filter pump combo

Did you make any decisions or find any more info on this? I'm so tired of fighting to keep up with our pool. I've heard to buy a 1.5" HP pump and a 19" sand filter and to upgrade pipe to 1.5 in and add another jet. No idea if this is good info or not!

Recommendations for replacing OEM Intex Sand Filter pump combo

I have this same pool and came looking for the same answer. The Intex pump and filter just aren't enough for coastal Alabama and under a bunch of trees (also lots of pine pollen!). We want to add some additional jets and upgrade the pump/same filter. Hopefully you get some good advice. We...

Hurricane Sally and our swamp--suggestions for winter? Please HELP!

We live in coastal AL and were hammered by Sally. Not only did our pool become completely FULL of leaves, branches, and an enormous amount of debris, but we also lost power so there was no way to filter (which wouldn't have worked anyway since there was too much debris). We now have a horrible...

I was afraid of that. Thank you!

    install filter timer on Intex?

We have the Intex Ultra 12x24 with SWG and a sand filter. Right now in coastal AL we need to run the filter 24/7. The problem with this pool is that the timer kicks on the SWG and filter together and runs them for a set time. And then it turns both of them off. I want the filter to continue to...

    Algae help

Thank you so much for the help!!! It's been so stressful dealing with this while trying to get ready to go! The overnight test was a lot better last night dropped from 24 to 19, much better than the previous days. What a bummer to leave in the middle of it! Anyway, sure appreciate all the advice...

    Algae help

Thank you!!! I'm sure they will add 5ppm chlorine each day. My husband is going to come back for a week in 2 weeks so he can try to deal with it more then. Two questions: CYA of 60 is ok? It says not recommended. Also, should we leave the SWG off while we are gone if the neighbors are adding...

    Algae help

That is the problem. We planned on the neighbors checking in on it but they don't have time to maintain this process. I'm running out of time. This morning we still saw a drop from FC 24 last night to 14. So I'll try to keep SLAming through tomorrow and then I don't know what to do when we...

    Algae help

My husband and I have each performed the tests separately and both are getting the same readings. I get that the CYA amount isn't changing. But our methods when testing seem to be correct and consistent, thus my frustration with all of this because the action we are supposed to take changes...

    Algae help

So crazy. CYA reading 80 before adding (wrong) shock. That shock was supposed to make CYA go up, but it dropped the next day to 40. Started SLAM process and at then end of the day CYA was still 40. Continuing SLAM, and now, on 4th day, with no additions besides liquid chlorine, it is back up...

    Algae help

Currently doing SLAM to combat algae. I now understand the relationship between FC levels and CYA, and the SLAM process makes sense, and the Pool Math App is a great help. But I'm still struggling with understanding a few things. Please clarify: 1. When we first noticed the water turning...

    Algae help

Ok, nevermind, I see that the maintenance levels are different but the SLAM shock levels are the same for both pool types. I'll get FC up to 16 then. Thank you!

    Algae help

Thank you. So, don't add CYA (unless it's below 30, and since we are above 30 we are rounding to 40), correct? And for the shock level, you say to use 40. But we have a SWG pool, and the chart starts at 60, so I don't know what the SLAM FC goal is...

    Algae help

Really need some help moving forward. I read the instructions but am not sure which value to use to know what my SLAM FC level should be. Should I base on the CYA of 80 that we had before we added anything and when we first noticed the algae? Also freaking out a bit because we are leaving town...

    Algae help

Glad the algaecide isn't contributing to the problem at least. Ok so we used the wrong shock. Now to mitigate that, what do I do? I'm using the TF-100 test kit. We also thought it was wrong that the CYA would change like that, but we both tested and checked and that's what we got. It doesn't...

    Algae help

Oh, sorry! Here's a picture: My husband put one of the pool shock packets in one day and the algae cure in the next day. So my question is, the CYA was at 80 before we added the pool shock. It lowered overnight to 35 after he added that. To figure out what level to maintain for SLAM, do I use...
