Poolsmith CO2 injection for pH control

In my area, buying a full tank without an exchange from Airgas was not much different in price than buying a new tank and getting it filled at the fire safety place, and Airgas's exchange price was about the same as the refill price. I didn't find the cheaper exchange price at another place in...

Poolsmith CO2 injection for pH control

Around here, the only places I've found that will do refills are fire safety companies. Welding supplies will only do tank exchanges. The cheapest refill price I've found is $45/tank (20 lb. tank). Cheapest exchange is $25 (most are higher). I did a refill because I have nice new tanks and I...

Poolsmith CO2 injection for pH control

Update: refilled the tanks this morning, so three 20 pound cyclinders lasted just short of 5 months.

Poolsmith CO2 injection for pH control

A point worth mentioning about the Poolsmith controller, it has some idea of elapsed time (so for example it knows when approximately 24 hours have passed since the start of the last injection cycle), but it doesn't have a clock (so no concept of date and time). This is relevant because if you...

    Hayward OmniLogic schedule issue

So the app and the controller agree, which means there is no communications problems between the app and controller. If I'm understanding your problem, whatever speed you have manually set (regardless of whether it is from the app or the controller directly) is the speed the pump runs at when...

    Hayward OmniLogic schedule issue

The app is essentially a wireless remote for the control panel. The app communicates with Hayward servers over the internet, which in turn communicates with the control panel, which then communicates to the equipment. The app does not directly communicate with the equipment. Thus, whatever...

    Hayward OmniLogic schedule issue

I would start with verifying that your pump is configured properly in the controller. I don't have the PL controller, but on my Omnilogic there is a Configuration Wizard on the control panel where the pump parameters are set up. For example, type of pump (which should be variable speed), the...

Poolsmith CO2 injection for pH control

Switched over to the third tank this morning, so adjusting for the time the system was off-line, the second tank last just over 7 weeks. So I expect I'll be needing to refill the tanks around labor day, which would be right around five months since I first turned the system on. So far, so good.

Poolsmith CO2 injection for pH control

The best local price for CO2 refills I have found is $25 for a 20 lb tank. For my pool, that translates to a yearly cost of about $175 for CO2. At my previous acid demand rate, I needed about 25 gallons of acid each year at about $6/gallon, about $150. So pH control using CO2 is slightly more...

Poolsmith CO2 injection for pH control

Update: my TA rose back up to 80 pretty soon after I had lowered it to 70 using MA. It has stabilized there, and I'm just letting it be. We have been getting much more regular rainfall since the drier conditions ended a few weeks ago so there probably hasn't been much water added via the...

Hayward OmniLogic R4.1.0 MSP Released - Remote Internet Update - No release notes at all

It is on the website now, that's where I've been checking. Really not much unless you have a heat pump or solar. Think I will skip this one.

OmniLogic 4.1.0, but can’t find release notes

No release notes yet that I can find. I haven't read about anyone who has upgraded having issues, but I also have not read anything about what the differences are compared to 4.0.1. So I decided to wait for more information before upgrading.

    Advice on pH readings

I also have this Apera meter, works well. I got one because I switched from using acid to doing pH control with CO2 and wanted to measure easily a couple of times a day as I got the system dialed in. I'm not colorblind, but still had difficulty distinguishing the color shadings at the higher end...

Hayward OmniLogic R4.1.0 MSP Released - Remote Internet Update - No release notes at all

It's weird they would make this available for over-the-air update without also having it available for download from the web site with release notes. Guess I will wait for documentation to become available before updating.

Intermittent ignition failures on Hayward 400FDN heater

Since last night we are finally in a period of damp, rainy weather that has lasted for more than an hour or so. Test fired the heater twice today, both times without any problems. I feel safe now to say that the issue is resolved. It was not a problem with the heater itself, but with the high...

    Backwashing

It sounds like you may have a sand filter, and you don't like the idea of wasted water when your backwash. If that's the case, it doesn't make sense to backwash into a cartridge filter to "recycle" the water. Just replace the sand filter with a cartridge filter that doesn't need to be backwashed.

pH going up a normal amount?

Yes, MA will lower the TA as well as lowering the pH. It would be helpful to post a complete set of numbers tomorrow when you get some help with the tests.

pH going up a normal amount?

Your water features, SWG, and TA (if it is high) would all contribute to your pH rise. There are folks here who understand water chemistry way better than I do, but my understanding is that there is some value of pH at which your pool will settle for a given set of operating conditions. So it...

pH going up a normal amount?

With a SWG and all those water features, you should expect pH to rise, particularly if your TA is also high.

Trouble with my Hayward 250FDN throwing LO error code

I have a H400FDN, which requires a minimum of 30 gpm (yours is 25 gpm). If my filter is clean, the minimum speed I can run the pump is 40% (1380). I normally run at 50% (1725), but when the filter gets a bit dirty the heater will throw an LO at that speed. Worth making sure you have sufficient...

Trouble with my Hayward 250FDN throwing LO error code

When you increase the pump speed, what are you increasing it to? Also, is it possible that your filter is restricting flow so that the input is marginal?

Tristar Pump, can I bypass Control Panel?

If you have a Hayward Tristar, here is the manual: https://www.hayward-pool.com/assets/documents/pools/pdf/manuals/TriStarVS.pdf To bypass the controller and operate the pump from its user interface, you don't need to change the wiring. After removing power from the pump, remove the two screws...

Which Pool Blaster for fiberglass pool under enclosure?

I am in a similar situation where I don't feel a robot is worthwhile. I have been using an old school vacuum, but it is a pain dealing with the hose and I would vacuum more often if it was more convenient.

    OmniLogic SWG Schedule?

I don't, although I do know the firmware was upgraded at one point after the date of the release notes you linked to previously. I later upgraded to 4.0.1 after I had to switch out the MSP due to some sensor issues I was having. Prior to that upgrade, I used to leave the chlorinator on at 0% by...

    OmniLogic SWG Schedule?

It is worthwhile to update to the latest firmware. Things just seem to work better, and you will no longer need to use a USB to update the firmware in the future. Regardless of what the release notes say, I could not turn my heater on/off via a schedule until I updated (I could only change the...

    OmniLogic SWG Schedule?

After I updated to 4.0.1, I can leave the chlorinator and heater both turned off by default, then when the schedule runs it turns them on. When the schedule expires, they turn off. The switch in the app accurately displays the on/off state of both devices.

No, you are not on the latest MSP (4.0.1). Here is a link to the page where you can get the firmware (click on the Support tab and scroll down). https://www.hayward-pool.com/shop/en/pools/omnilogic-i-auomni--1
