    Above ground pool heater

I have a 24 foot round above ground pool. Can I get recommendations for a reasonably priced pool heater? Is gas, electric or propane better? How many btus or amps or??? The pool would need to be heated from the end of May til probably the middle of June and then from the end of August until mid...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

So if I use liquid chlorine, I should aim to keep it between 3 and 7, I guess with 5 being optimal? Now I just wait til it gets to that level and then maintain it from there? Thank you for your help.

That's what we've been using the past 20 years lol. I'm not sure what the tablets are. Is there something else we should be using?

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

We've had many storms through here the past couple of weeks but finally the water is crystal clear, I didn't lose any chlorine overnight and there is no CC. So I guess the SLAM process is done. So now what do I do? Can I turn on the automatic chlorinator so my pool doesn't get green? Right now...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

So I ordered and received the new cya reagent and chlorine test powder. Even though the kit wasn't a year old, I think they were expired. I tested my cya today after a couple of days of heavy rain and it tested at 40. My chlorine is at 3. The pool water is clear though, but unfortunately that...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

No I didn't try the vit c test but we didn't use any algaecides. We tried scrubbing it but it's not really doing anything. We had a bit of leaves in the pool but nothing like in years past. Last year it looked like a swamp but once we got it cleaned there was no stain. My chlorine before I...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

It's from the covered water line down to the bottom. I'd have to drain the whole pool if I have to lower the water lol. Here are some pics. The water is near crystal clear. Thank you.

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

Ok. The Magic Eraser didn't really do much. Stain is still there plus I was reading that you shouldn't use the Magic Erasers in a pool because it can cause some toxic chemical to form between the pool chemicals and the eraser chemicals. I will take a pic and post. It's around the entire pool...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

I tried the magic eraser but it was getting dark and I couldn't see if it did anything. I will check in the morning. If not, is there anything else I can use?

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

Yes. Amazon is delayed til next week to ship. Do you think a pool store would carry it? My FC is holding around 6 to 8 each time I test. It's not dropping really low. I out in any 5 cups shock every 2 hours. Last night it only do about 2.5 overnight. I did test my CYA and that seems to have...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

Do you know where I can get that powder that is used for the chlorine test? I need more and I don't think it will get here in time. I'm not sure what kind of powder it is..has a number on it. It's from the 100 test kit. Thank you.

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

That's what I did. It soaked overnight and this morning I was out there making it ooze lol. The 2.5lbs should have brought me to about 20ish. So the for is supposed to disappear completely? The pool water is pretty good. I have the vac in there now but there's not a lot of dirt. Will start...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

So I have a question about the CYA test. I tested it yesterday and it was 0. Took it to the pool store to test it and it was 5. Put 2.5 lbs of stabilizer per pool math. Filter running for 24 hrs now. It wouldn't "melt" so I have to kind of grind it to help it along. Took it to a different pool...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

So I had my water tested at a local pool store just to double check my numbers. I'm attaching the results below. They said not to add stabilizer because that will only make the chlorine lock worse. So do I put the stabilizer in at the same time I do the SLAM or do I wait for the stabilizer to...

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

Thank you for your thoughts. Fortunately I'm the only one who uses the pool and it hasn't been consistently hot here yet so it's okay. Today is mid 90's and Thursday it's supposed to be in the 70s. Hopefully it will be all set to go soon and maybe next year we'll open it early to try to avoid...

Thanks Marty. Would that be around 2.5 lbs of stabilizer to raise it to 20 ppm?

Opening of Pool - Chemical Balancing

Hello everyone. We just opened our pool yesterday. It was a little green upon opening, which we believe happened because our cover had a rip in it over the winter and lots of leaves got into the pool. There is some dirt on the bottom which we know has to be vacuumed up. The liner has like a...

    "Chlorine Block"

This is the first year we've had this happen. So you're saying to put the superlube on the top and bottom of the cartridge?

    "Chlorine Block"

I check the FC addy night, around 11 and add the shock to bring it up to SLAM level. Then I check it in the morning and I have to add more shock becsuse it drops, usually to 7 or 8.

    "Chlorine Block"

Ok. Will try that. We'll be closing it in about 5 to 6 weeks. Hope it gets cleared up by then lol. Thanks for your help everyone.

    "Chlorine Block"

Yes. We can try that. But that still wouldn't account for the FC chlorine dropping sll the time. It's strange becsuse thrre water is crystal clear. It's so clear, you can see the debri on the bottom of the pool.
