Dark Stain on Plaster from Chlorine Puck

Nothing else added except a little acid every now and then to keep pH down. Pre-pandemic I used bleach but it's become expensive and sometimes hard to locate. CYA level is a little low so I've been using pucks lately. Pool was originally filled by truck in 2016 but since then the level is...

Dark Stain on Plaster from Chlorine Puck

Absolutely. The small stuff is just whatever debris, I hadn't swept yet. And, the spillway was running so a little turbulence on the water. Other than the 2 greyish blobs the plaster is fine. Thanks

Dark Stain on Plaster from Chlorine Puck

Part of a chlorine puck (Trichloro-s-triazinetrione) ended up in the pool for a day or 2. Once removed left behind is a dark stain on the plaster. I've read about vitamin c for iron. Is there anything that can remove the puck stain? Thanks

North Texas landscape with palm trees after 2021 record low temps.

Anybody's palms showing signs of life yet? Oak trees are finally sprouting new leaves. Never seen them so bare before. It's really opened up the view but in a sad kinda way. Catkins will be brutal soon. Pump filters getting cleaned today in anticipation.

    Southern Snow

Temps hitting the 50s today. Much of the snow has thawed. Water to the house is back w/o much damage. Pool heat pump didn't show any leaks. I didn't give it time to warm anything. Water temp is 40. The polaris pump is making an awful sound and the polaris itself isn't moving. If that's the only...

    Southern Snow

Just posted to the Pool Paradise thread too...I somehow missed this thread before... Water to the house froze maybe 4 days ago, can't keep track of the days we've been snowed in so long. Rolling blackouts for the last 3 days. Somehow the pool pump is still operable even after losing power for...

What does your pool paradise look like?

Water to the house froze maybe 4 days ago, can't keep track of the days we've been snowed in so long. Rolling blackouts for the last 3 days. Somehow the pool pump is still operable even after losing power for 3-4 hours at a time in single digit temps. Tree limbs falling all around us. Ready for...

Movement of Pavers - New Travertine Paver Installation

First post, cool! We've got a bunch of pavers (not travertine) that are dry set. They were installed 4 or so years ago. I don't remember the number but way over 1k sq ft. I can probably count on 1 hand the number that have settled lower than others. None have shifted higher.

Official 2021 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Mrs Salty cooked something over the holidays that didn't get smoked. (the horror, right?) Left an opportunity to smoke a side item....mashed potatoes! They were a real hit. Cube & boil them mostly like normal except pull them out of the water a little early. Smoke the cubes in a basket then...

    The absolute best granite sealer

Is the Idea Gold a water based sealant? We have cement countertops in our kitchen. The builder suggested a water based sealant that needs to be re-applied every 6 months (Cementone). Idea Gold looks much better product but I'm wondering if old sealant would need to be stripped first. Same for...

Another approach to getting more smoke from a Masterbuilt. I open the main door to remove ash and add more chips (and spritz). This allows you to add more chips than the side tube will allow. Leave the side tube cracked open a slight bit and the top vent all the way open. You'll get a more...

First time with a pork shoulder so a little 3 pounder test smoke. Homemade rub heavy on the pepper....guajillo, ancho, chiles de arbol, etc. I like mixing different woods so used apple, mesquite and pecan. Electric smoker for about 10 hrs. Pulled it at 190, wrapped and put it in a cooler for...

Where'd you score that from? Cooking gadgets look so tempting but storage is always a problem. Will you leave the griddle on the grill when not in use?...or you have somewhere it will fit?
